N/A Pheochromocytoma occurs at all ages but is most common in young to midadult life. In adults 10 percent of pheochromocytoma are bilateral. And bilateral lesions are common in the familial syndromes; within Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia (MEN) kindreds over half with pheochromocytomas have bilateral lesions. We report a case of bilateral pheochromocytoma firstly detected by ultrasonogram. This 24-year-old male was normotensive and had symptoms of dilated cardiorrmyopathy and elevated VMA level. CT and MRI were performed to evaluate the tissue nature and associated abnormalities. 131I-MIBG scan seems to be the imaging of choice in patients with suspected multicentric,/bilateral or recurrent or metastatic pheochromocytomas.

This study was carried out to elucidate the effective of some swelling agents on the soaking treatment of raw silk. The swelling of raw silk is commonly practiced by soaking in warmwater, However, it is not enough to weaving of raw silk. Therefore, the combination of some chemical agents were tested to improve the swelling ratio of raw silk. The pretreatment of raw silk in 0.4N sodium carbonate aqueous solution before soaking in the mixed solution of Emulon 1 g/l, Emanol 0.5 g/l and 0.04N sodium silicate increased the swelling ratio by 57%, compared to the nontreatment In SEM observation, the surface of raw silk soaked in swelling agents solution was swollen and smoothed.

It has been known that the silk degumming treated by hot alkali solution is easy to handle but is liable to yield poor-quality silk due to the degree of degumming loss, incomplete-degumming or over-degumming. Therefore, many studies have been carried out on the silk degumming by enzyme in order to improve the quality of silk. However, no attention has been paid to the physicochemical analysis of enzymatic degummed silk. In this paper, two different degumming methods, soap and enzymatic, are compared in aqueous solution state of silk fibroin. The results can be summarized as follows: There was no significant difference between two solutions on the bases of polarizing microscopy, TEM observation and SDS-PAGE. Spherulite of silk fibroin was not observed in polarizing microscopy, however the leaf·shape fibril structure was developed upon solidification. The size of spherulites of silk fibroin in TEM observation were 30~120 nm with a wide range of size distribution. The intrinsic viscosity of enzymatic degummed fibroin solution was lower than that of soap degummed solution. This can be explained that the silk fibroin was more degraded by enzymatic degumming method compared with the soap degumming method. SDS-polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis showed that the fibroin molecule was composed of large component of molecule weight above 50 kd and small component of molecule weight about 20 kd. There was no difference in crystallinity between two degumming methods on the bases of results of DSC thermograms and IR spectra.

This study was carried out to investigate the physical characteristics of stocking knitted with silk/nylon(S/N) compound yarn. In SEM observation, it was found that most part of S/N stocking was well interlaced between silk and nylon yarn. There was no difference between S/N stocking and nylon stocking in shrinkage at warm water and compressive resilience. The suction height and absorbability of S/N stocking was 4~8 times and 3 times higher than that of nylon stocking, respectively. According to the wearing test survey, most of wearers answered that the warmth, the hand and the feeling cool of S/N stocking were better than those of nylon stocking but reversed in elasticity, and they gave sprit opinion on durability responding good impression in total feeling of S/N stocking.

This study was carried out to investigate the characteristics of Habutae and Chiffon woven with silk and polyester (S/P) compound yarn. The S/P compound yarn could be produced by the automatic reeling machine with attachment of air jetting device, polyester yarn guider and tension control apparatus. The surface structure, tensile Property and dyeing fastness of S/P compound fabric were examined for the fabric properties. Electron microscopy revealed that most part of S/P compound yarn was well interlaced and some silk part of compound yarn were hidden by polyester on an examination of surface of chiffon fabric. By the one bath and two step dyeing of disperse and acidic dyes, the colour fastness of S/P compound fabrics were 4 grade above. The tenacity and initial modulus of the finished S/P compound fabric were lower than those of grey and degummed fabrics, but reversed in elongation.
