The conventional aftertreatment systems to meet the stringent ULEV-Ⅱ emission regulation are usually composed of warm-up catalytic converter (WCC) and underfloor catalytic converter (UCC). However, those systems bring high cost, high back pressure, the limit of engine room for package design, and other side effects. The new optimized system needs to solve these problems and to meet ULEV-Ⅱ emission regulation efficiently. There are many technologies and design parameters in exhaust catalytic converter systems ; exhaust manifold structure, exhaust gas flow distribution, location of catalytic converter, PM coating technologies, substrate characteristics, and volume of catalysts. It is a key factor to make a optimized robust system with those parameters and technologies described. The new optimized exhaust and Integrated Close-coupled Catalytic Converter (ICCC) system can meet ULEV-Ⅱ regulation and can solve those problems of conventional system by a robust design. This study was focused on the optimization process of exhaust and ICCC system to determine robust design control factors, which are durability of catalyst - aged and/or fresh - , by vehicle evaluation, FTP-75.

Common rail system for small diesel engine has bee successfully developed and generalized for better performance, drivability and reduction of NVH. Many people have big interesting of common rail system and study it. But almost study was focused on only High Pressure Circuit, which is directly concern with injection. HPC is not sufficient to meet good result. When HPC match with LPC, common rail system is optimized. LPC aid optimized fuel delivery, cold start ability, cooling of fuel, and so on. so, this study would like to review LPC and suggest method to determine LPC in view of fuel pressure depression and fuel temperature.
전동식 액추에이터의 위치 선형성 개선을 위한 C-TYPE 자석 대한 연구

A magnet and hall effect sensor is adopted for a precision position control to electric actuators of vehicle. The magnet for detecting the rotation angle is positioned on axis of actuator’s lever and is rotating while lever is rotating. The hall sensor of actuator changes from the position data of magnetic flux density to the voltage and transfers a position information to ECU(Engine Control Unit). ECU controls the position of actuator’s lever using the output voltage of hall sensor. Therefore, the linearity error of output voltage should be reduced for the precision position control. The position linearity of actuator depends on the linearity of magnetic flux density because the hall sensor changes from a magnetic flux density to voltage. It is possible to improve the magnetic flux density by changing a magnet shape. In this paper, to improve a position linearity of actuator that has C-type magnet, the linearity of magnetic flux density is discussed according to the thickness, length and sector angle of Ctype magnet, and the validity of this study is verified through the simulation.

A rapid prototyping is one of the most economical techniques which shorten the development cycle of the control system. It is easy to design and simulate the controller. But the automotive company must pay attention to production as well as design. Therefore, the automotive software developers need the platform which enables seamless development from concept to production level codes. This paper describes the platform which has the structure with hardware-specific layers and hardware-independent layers. The development of electronic throttle controller will be introduced as a practical application based on this platform.

This study is focused on the nano particle emission characteristics from a side mounted GDI (Gasoline Direct Injection) and LPG-DI (Liquefied Petroleum Gas Direct Injection) engine and vehicle. The fuel supply system of commercial GDI vehicle is reworked to a return type liquid phase LPG fuel injection system. The LPG tank with low pressure BLDC pump and pressure regulator were installed in the test vehicle. Engine operation variables of GDI engine were calibrated to optimal value for LPG fuel. Nano-particle number concentration from the GDI and LPG-DI engine were analyzed with DMS500. Regulated emission (THC, CO, CO₂, NOx) and nano particle number concentration from GDI and LPG-DI vehicle were analyzed of vehicle certification mode.

An actuator is heated by the motor current which is built. If the motor is overheated above the guaranteed temperature, the motor is damaged and the actuator will perform the Fail-safe function. This paper proposes the control logic in order to prevent overheating to reduce temperature under the position deviation condition. The validity of the proposed method is verified by an experiment.

As the demand time to market in the automotive industry is decreasing, a lot of automotive companies have been using the on-target rapid controller prototyping technology. But, this kind of automatic code generation on target needs lots of time and costs for production code. This paper describes the automatic code generation platform using an efficient production compatible process using Matlab Simulink through 32-Bit Engine Control Unit as on target. This proposed automatic code generation platform supports all kinds of interface units including CAN Calibration Protocol and validated through DCVVT(Dual Continuous Variable Valve Timing) control of gasoline engine test.
