After the transformation big cities in East Germany have many problems in various factors. With the suburbanization and selective migration into West Germany the number of vacant houses in cities increased and the downtown declined. Governors of cities and many communities tried to solve this problem. One of their strategies is to make the cities attractive to tourists. This paper clarifies how East Germans regenerated their cities using the urban tourism. The main results are as follows: 1. After the unification the city of Leipzig continuously tried to perform image campaigns for the place marketing. 2. With these image campaigns city identities of Leipzig emerged. 3. There was the hottest argument about image campaigns for Messestadt Leipzig(Congress Town) because of high public cost. 4. The development of accommodation sectors reflects that business tourism became important. However, the overinvestment in accommodation sectors will possibly disturb sustainable economic growth. 체제전환이후 동독의 대도시들은 다양한 요인들에 의해 어려움에 처하였다. 교외화와 서독으로 선택적 인구이동과 함께 도심은 쇠퇴하고, 도시 내에는 수많은 빈집들이 증가하였다. 이러한 과정에서 도시의 통치자들과 자치단체들은 이를 개선하기 위한 노력을 기울였다. 하나의 수단으로서 도시를 관광객들을 유인할 수 있는 목적지로 만들고자 했다. 본 논문에서는 동독 도시의 도시관광을 통한 도시재생 전략에 대해서 밝혀 보고자했다. 그 결과 통일이후 라이프치히는 지속적으로 장소마케팅을 위한 이미지 캠페인을 수행하였다. 이러한 이미지 캠페인과 함께 도시의 정체성이 형성되기 시작하였다. 이러한 이미지 캠페인 중 하나인 박람회 도시 라이프치히는 가장 뜨거운 논쟁의 대상이었는데 왜냐하면 그것은 많은 공적 비용을 유발시키기 때문이다. 숙박 부문의 발전은 비즈니스 관광의 지배를 반영했다고 볼 수 있다. 라이프치히의 숙박 부문에 대한 과잉 투자는 장래에 지속적인 경제 성장의 장애물이 될 수도 있다.

The main purpose of this paper is to understand very complicated housing situation in East Germanysince the German Unification. To this the housing policy in the former GDR must be investigated. In this it is clearthat the housing policy under the control of the socialist regime had many problems. After the political change thehousing market was built and especially the housing submarket was well developed. Since the German Unification,the transformation of housing market is classified roughly four periods and the regional housing marketapproximately five types. The main problem of housing market in East Germany is empty stock. This is caused bythe population decline by migration, employee reduction with industrial restructuring and suburbanizationaccelerated by uninhabitable housing in inner city and motorization etc. To prevent the loss of urban function, theagents try to improve residential environments and integrate vacant housing with urban renovation planning. Manyexperts forecast that the decline of birth rate in East Germany since the political change will be affected on thehousing demand from the years of 2015. 본 연구의 목적은 통일 이후 매우 복잡한 동독의 주택시장의 상황을 이해하는데 있다. 이를 위해 과거 동독의 주택 정책이 먼저 조사되어야했다. 여기서 사회주의 정권의 통제 하에서 많은 문제점을 가지고 있었다. 정, 특히 하위시장이 잘 발달되었다. 통일 이후 주택시장의 전환은 대략 4시기로 구분할 수 있으며, 지역 주택시장은 5개의 유형으로 구분된다. 동독 주택시장의 주요한 문제점은 빈집이다.이것은 이주에 의한 인구 감소, , 도심 내에 부적합한 주택과 자동차 보급에 의해가속화 된 교외화 등에 의해 야기되었다. 이로 인한 도시 기능의 상실을 예방하기 위하여 주체들은 거주 환경을개선하고, 빈집을 도시 재개발 계획과 통합시키려고 한다. 많은 전문가들은 통일 이후 동독에서 출산율 감소가 2015년부터 주택수요에 영향을 미칠 것이라고 예견한다.

The main purpose of this paper is to clarify the change of tourism in the Eastern Germany after the German Unification. To this the situation of tourism in GDR times was investigated. In those days the state-owned enterprises, institutions, trade union have mediated various travels. With the economic progress in the GDR, the demands of journey, recreation and tour were gradually increased. Thus the right to travel abroad was one of the leading demands of civil rights movement in 1989. After the political upheaval the tourism in eastern Germany has experienced transformation processes. Since the 1990s the accommodation capacity and infrastructure related tourism in eastern germany were remarkably progressed. As a consequence the new Laender have begun to compete with the traditional touristic areas in the old Laender. In spite of touristic environmental improvement, there are many problems in eastern German tourism sector to be solved(the low rate of foreign visitors, improvement of nominal statistical value by residents decrease, regional disparity between Laender). 본 논문의 주요한 목적은 통일 후 구동독 지역에서 관광 부문의 변화를 밝히는데 있다. 이것을 위해 우선적으로 동독 시절의 관광 상황에 대하여 조사하였다. 그 당시 국가 소유 기업(사업체), 기관, 노조들이 다양한 여행을 중개하였다. 경제적 진보와 함께 관광 및 여행에 대한 수요는 증가하였으나 이를 충분히 만족시킬 수 없었다. 그래서 해외여행에 대한 권리 요구는 1989년 시민운동의 주요한 요구 사항 중의 하나였다. 정치적 격변 후 동독 지역에서 관광은 체제전환 과정을 경험하였다. 1990년대 이래 숙박수용 능력과 관광과 관련된 인프라 시설이 두드러지게 향상되었다. 그 결과 신연방주는 서독의 전통적인 관광지역과 경쟁을 하기 시작하였다. 관광의 환경이 개선되었음에도 불구하고 동독 지역의 관광은 해결되어야 할 많은 문제점이 있다(외국인 관광객 비율의 저조, 인구 감소에 의한 통계 수치상의 개선, 주별 지역 간 격차).

Glomus jugulare is slow growing, highly vascularized, histologically benign tumor. The authors report the case of huge glomus jugulare tumor treated by skull base surgical resection via posterolateral approach with preopera- tive embolization of ascending pharyngeal artery. A 59-year old female patient presented with symptoms of right side pulsatile tinnitus, hearing loss and hoarseness. Magnetic resonance imaging demonstrated an approximately 5.7 cm mass along the right jugular foramen, extension to right cerebellopontine angle. Prior to surgical excision of tumor, the patient proceeded embolization in ascending pharyngeal artery. Next day, the patient proceeded a posterolateral approach to remove the skull base tumor. The purpose of this case report is to debate the effective- ness of preoperative embolization and posterolateral approach for the glomus jugulare tumor and its pathological result.
