Understanding Interactive behaviors in Story Reading Activities

This study aims to investigate interactive scaffolding behaviors between teachers and second language learners in story reading activities. Participants' reactions in this study are coded and named according to their functions and purposes throughout the study. The results are as follows: First, scaffolding behaviors were made by participants' initiative moves throughout the reading interaction. These supportive behaviors were predominantly used when more questions and errors were raised as a corrective feedback, especially to correct learners' phonological and lexical errors. In addition, learners' opinions of the story reading activities were collected and illustrated in order to present their learning experience. The finding suggests that in order to build up the comprehension ability or communicative ability of the student through the reading session, a teacher may need to have knowledge about what area students may face difficulties in carrying on the story reading session. In addition this study provides us with a general look at how much interaction strategy the teacher potentially can apply to different levels of the student in actual interactive story reading situations.

EGI system has severe problems of heavy HC emission generated by large fuel droplet and non-uniform air-fuel mixture. Therefore, various atomization techniques is being developed in order to reduce HC emission. The one among those techniques is air shrouded injector, which has better atomization ability and demand less power loss than other atomizers. Thus, the development of this air shrouded injector can be major topic to cope with international emission regulation. Nevertheless, there are few domestic and foreign studies which deal with air shrouded injector.<br/> In this study, the spray characteristics and atomization mechanism of representative air shrouded injector which was designed and manufactured was analyzed using PDPA system. And then, definite standards of air shrouded injector's spray characteristics were established.<br/>

Natural gas has been reported to have good potential for alternative vehicle fuel due to its economical and clean characteristics. Thus, we converted decrepit IDI Diesel engine into a dedicated natural gas engine to reduce the exhaust emissions in a retrofit of a diesel-fueled vehicle, and got a certificate of quality and emission form MOE(Ministry of Environment Republic of Korea). The objective of this paper is to clarify the combustion characteristics and emissions of prechamber type small class CNG engine. This paper presents combustion characteristics obtained from running a 2.5L, 4-cylinder CNG engine retrofitted IDI diesel engine with engine dynamometer. BSFC, emissions, fuel consumption and combustion pressure were measured under steady state operating conditions especially at partial load for CNG engine. From the experimental results, we found out that combustion characteristics of prechamber type CNG engine is quite different from that of normal CNG engine especially at low load - low speed condition.
초등 사이버 영어화상수업에서의 원어민 교사의 역할에 대한 연구

Entering the 21st century, the world continues to change into a more global community with the help of communicative technology. It allows students who otherwise would not have the chance, to meet and study with native English speakers. As a part of the English language education policy, the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology and the Education and Research Information Service in Korea have supported this study to make the cyber English learning business successful for elementary students recruited from 5 schools located in 4 English specialized education districts. The purposes of this study are to: 1) find the lesson format of cyber English language teaching 2) examine the main roles of native cyber-English teachers in conducting computer mediated language teaching and 3) explore the main motivations for students in order to encourage them to be engaged in cyber learning. The results showed that native cyber English teachers used a variety of teaching techniques in order to carry out the cyber English teaching programme. In order to draw students’ attention, cyber English teachers mainly used numerous images, video clips, a message board, communicative techniques, a white board, and online testing. Native cyber English teachers also provided technical support, student management, repetition drills, mother language help, encouragement, various types of questioning practice, feedback on the performance, modeling, visualization, and instruction on cyber courtesy for their students. As a result of the survey, native teachers showed various opinions on the use of cyber English learning, lesson structure, improvement of learners’ competence, teaching materials, and the role of Korean teachers in cyber English learning.
