Vol.56 No.1

Grounded in theory of planned behaviors(TPB), we developed the leisure education program to help middle-aged women become more physically active and healthy by increasing their beliefs―namely, attitude, subjective norm, and perceived personal control. To test the effectiveness of leisure education on TPB-based cognitive variables and behavioral outcomes, we assigned middle-aged women into either experimental group(n=28) or control group(n=29). Then, we provided TPB-based leisure education for middle-aged women in the experimental group, while we did not provide all of it for middle-aged women in the control group. We adopted three-wave assessments (at the beginning, at the middle, and at the end) and used repeated-measure ANOVAs in order to examine the experimentally-based longitudinal effect of leisure education on TPB-based variables and its behavioral outcomes. The result showed that middle-aged women in the experimental group perceived higher level of attitude, subjective norm, and perceived personal control than those in the control group. Following the effectiveness of leisure education. middle-aged women in the control group perceived themselves as more healthy and more vitalized/energized than those in the control group. In conclusion, we found that TPB-based leisure education increased positive beliefs(attitude, subjective norm, and perceive behavioral control) about physical activity and personal health and generativity in middle-aged women.

기대불일치이론 관점에서 2018평창올림픽 지역자원봉사자의 만족도와 지지도 관계

        김보람(KimBo-Ram),황향희(HwangHyang-Hee) 한국체육학회 2019 한국체육학회지 Vol.58 No.2

The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between their pre-expectation (expectation), perceived achievement, satisfaction, and approval ratings of volunteers in PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympic & Paralympic Games; hence, we believe that it helps promoting people volitional participation and increasing their interests into mega-sport events. Five-hundred thirty nine volunteers volitionally participated in this study, and completed the questionnaire, and the data collected by the end were analyzed with 20.0 version of SPSS and Amos. Specifically, we conducted all necessary analyses (descriptive and frequency analysis, reliability test, confirmatory factor analysis, correlational analysis, and the test of structural equation model) to test research hypotheses proposed in this study. Results demonstrated that volunteers’ pre-expectation positively predicted perceived achievement, which in turn predicted their satisfaction. At the same time, the pre-expectation had a direct positive association with their satisfaction which positively predicted the approval ratings of volunteers. Finally, the result showed that the perceived achievement was partially mediated in the relation between pre-expectation and satisfaction among volunteers. In conclusion, the pre-expectation and the perceived achievement of volunteers in PyeongChang 2018 Winter Olympic & Paralympic Games are further expected to contribute to the gains of their satisfaction and approval ratings. We further have no doubt that the findings in this study would be more likely to help promote peoples’ volitional participation and increase their interests into mega-sport events.

        천승현(CheonSungHyeon),김보람(KimBo-ram) 한국체육학회 2017 한국체육학회지 Vol.56 No.6

Grounded on Self-Determination Theory (SDT; Deci & Ryan, 2000), the purpose of this study was to examine the reciprocal relations between student leisure-time physical activity (LTPA) and self-determined motivation in physical education (PE) setting. Thus, this study tested whether students’ self-determined motivation at the early semester leads to changes of LTPA at the end of semester or LTPA at the beginning of semester leads the change of student’self-determined motivation at the end of semester. A two-wave longitudinal research design over the course of semester was employed. Study hypotheses were analyzed using the model of reciprocal effects grounded on OIT. To attain the aim of this study, middle and high school students (N=714) in Seoul and KyoungGiDo were asked to complete the questionnaire twice during the semester period. Following testing the hypotheses, data revealed positive relationship between LTPA and self-determined motivation in PE. Theoretically-aligned relationship between the change of LTPA and the change of self-determined motivation in PE were observed. That is, students’self-determined motivation in PE at the early semester positively predicted the change of LTPA at the end of semester; at the same time, students’LTPA at the early semester postively predicted the change of students’s self-determined motivation at the end of semester. In conclusion, students who are autonomously motivated in PE is more likely to involve in LTPA, while students who are participate in LTPA tend to highly engage in PE lesson. Such findings can provide insightful information to PE teachers or exercise instructors to effectively motivate their students in their practices.

Vol.56 No.4

This study aims to psychometrically evaluate and validate a measure of classroom engagement in physical education (PE) which was originated from the Classroom Engagement Model by Reeve (2013). Ultimately, our goal is to offer newly-developed classroom engagement scale in Korean physical education. Classroom engagement consists of multidimensional factors-namely, emotional engagement, behavioral engagement, cognitive engagement, and agentic engagement-which measure the quality/degree of student classroom engagement. For this study, 488 middle and high school students from Seoul and Kyounggido in South Korea were asked to complete the questionnaire. Based on confirmatory factor analyses, the results supported the reliability and validity of the Classroom Engagement in Physical Education Scale (CEPES). Each of four classroom engagement scales on the CEPES showed good internal consistency, and the scale as a whole demonstrated good factorial and predictive validity in physical education setting. In conclusion, CEPES will be useful for researchers and practitioners (PE teachers) to understand PE classroom engagement conceptually and to observe students‘ in-class engagement practically as well as to develop better motivational and instructional strategies to enhance students’engagement in PE learning activities.

This study investigated how objectified body consciousness of grown-up women participating in yoga training affects optimism and self-expression, and emphasized on importance of physical, psychological and emotional health of yoga training, hence aimed to set up the right appearance and a view of body, continuously develop and vitalize yoga, and at the same time provide base data that helps leading physical, psychological and emotional health for modern people. In order to achieve the above study aim, grown-up women aged over 20 who were taking yoga training at 7 yoga centers of commercial sports facilities located in Korea in 2015, were set as the population, and using convenience sampling method, total of 400 questionnaires were collected and 367 were used in the actual analysis. The results were as follow. Firstly, as higher the shame of objectified body consciousness of grown-up women participating in yoga training, pursuit of goal appeared to be low, and as higher the monitoring, subjective satisfaction appeared to be high. In addition, as higher the control belief, pursuit of goal and subjective satisfaction which are sub factors of optimism, appeared to be high. Secondly, as higher the control belief which is a sub factor of objectified body consciousness of grown-up women participating in yoga training, self-expression appeared to be affected. Thirdly, subjective satisfaction which is a sub factor of optimism of grown-up women participating in yoga training, appeared to affect self-expression. Based on this, on top of yoga that can approach modern people not only with a physical goal but also with psychological aspects, enthusiastic yoga vitalization is necessary, for diversity of yoga programs through emotional and psychological approach through physical aspects of a yoga program that grown-up women can approach easily, and for more active and continuous participation of yoga training participants.
