빅 데이터 시대의 도래와 함께, SSD(HDD) 도입 비용의 증가 등에 따라 최근 국내외 PC방 및 기관에서는 NDS(No Disk System) 솔루션을 도입해 오고 있다. NDS는 일종의 클라우드 컴퓨팅 기반의 스토리지 가상화 솔루션으로서 기존의 개별 컴퓨터에 설치되어 관리하였던 운영체제와 응용 프로그램을 중앙 서버에서 관리하는 방식이다. 본 논문에서는 NDS 환경에서의 사용자 행위 분석에 대한 방법에 대하여 알아보도록 하겠다. With the advent of big data and increased costs of SSD(HDD), domestic and foreign Internet cafes and organizations have adopted NDS(No Disk System) solution recently. NDS is a storage virtualization solution based on a kind of cloud computing. It manages Operating System and applications in the central server, which were originally managed by individual computers. This research will illustrate the way to analyze user’s behaviors under NDS circumstance.

사설 클라우드 환경에서 수집된 VM 데이터의 무결성 입증과 관련 포렌식 도구의 신뢰성 검증

최근 들어, 수많은 기업들은 IT 분야에서의 비용절감을 위하여 클라우드 솔루션을 채택해 오고 있다. 한편 디지털 흔적이 추후 법정에서 온전한 디지털 증거로 인정받기 위해서는 증거능력이 있어야 하는데, 그 중에서도 무결성은 증거능력을 갖추기 위한 여러 요건 중 하나이다. 이와 같은 맥락에서, 본 논문에서는 대표적인 사설 클라우드 솔루션(Citrix, VMware, MS Hyper-V)으로부터 수집된 VM 데이터를 대상으로 무결성 검증실험을 수행 하였으며, 그 결과로서 사설 클라우드 컴퓨팅 환경에서 수집된 VM 데이터에 대한 무결성 검증방법을 제안하고자 한다. 또한, 전세계적으로 널리 사용되는 Guidance사의 EnCase 도구가 대표적인 가상 디스크 파일인 VHD (Virtual Hard Disk) 파일을 제대로 마운트 하지 못하는 오류가 있음을 확인하였다. Recently, a large number of corporations are adopting cloud solution in order to reduce IT-related costs. By the way, Digital Trace should have admissibility to be accepted as digital evidence in court, and integrity is one of the factors for admissibility. In this context, this research implemented integrity verification test to VM Data which was collected by well-known private cloud solutions such as Citrix, VMware, and MS Hyper-V. This paper suggests the effective way to verify integrity of VM data collected in private cloud computing environment based on the experiment and introduces the error that EnCase fails to mount VHD (Virtual Hard Disk) files properly.

클라우드 컴퓨팅은 최근 IT 시장에서 가장 큰 성장을 보이고 있는 분야 중 하나로, 앞으로도 지속적으로 성장할 것으로 기대되고 있다. 특히, 최근에는 수많은 기업들이 비용 절감 및 효율 향상을 위해 사설 클라우드 컴퓨팅 서비스로 가상 데스크톱 환경을 도입하고 있다. 하지만 현재 이 분야에 대한 디지털 포렌식 조사 절차 및 방법은 학문적, 기술적으로 체계화되어 있지 않다. 이를 위해서는 클라우드 컴퓨팅 서비스 형태에 따라 법적 효력을 가질 수 있는 디지털 증거 수집 체계를 확립해야 한다. 본 논문에서는 사설 클라우드 서비스로 제공되는 가상 데스크톱 환경 및 전 세계적으로 가장 많이 사용되고 있는 데스크톱 가상화 솔루션(Citrix, VMware, Microsoft)에 대해 소개하고, 각 솔루션에 대한 디지털 포렌식 조사 절차 및 방법을 제안한다. Recently, cloud computing is one of the parts showing the biggest growth in the IT market and is expected to continue to grow into. Especially, many companies are adopting virtual desktop infrastructure as private cloud computing to achieve in saving the cost and enhancing the efficiency of the servers. However, current digital forensic investigation methodology of cloud computing is not systematized scientifically and technically. To do this, depending on the type of each cloud computing services, digital evidence collection system for the legal enforcement should be established. In this paper, we focus on virtual desktop infrastructure as private cloud computing and introduce the most widely used around the world desktop virtualization solutions of VMware, Citrix, and Microsoft. And We propose digital forensic investigation methodology for private cloud computing that is constructed by these solutions.
