복벽에 수술 기타의 원인으로 생긴 반흔형성이 없는 부인들 중에서 임의로 선택된 한국정상부인 500명에 대하여 제와의 위치를 계측한바 다음과 같은 결과를 얻었다. 1. 제와와 검상돌기첨단과의 길이는 제와와 치골상연과의 길이보다 일반으로 길며 347예(69.4%), 그와 반대로 짧은 것은 105예(21%)이었다. 2. 제와와 좌우 전상양골극간거리는 거의 동일하고 동일한 형의 분포도를 보였다. 그리고 신장과 제와일전상양골극간거리와의 사이에 약간의 상관관계를 볼수 있었다. 3. 제와가 검상돌기첨단과 치골상연의 중간에 있고 좌우 전상양골극으로부터 동일한 거리에 있는 것은 9예(1.8%)였으며 제와가 검상돌기첨단 치골상연 및 좌우전상양골극으로부터 동일한 거리에 있는 것은 5예(1%)였다. 4. 좌우전상양골극간거리는 평균 22.9cm였으며 그 분포는 중앙치에 집결된 정상분포 아닌 대선분포를 보였다. 그리고 신장과의 상관은 거의 없었다. 5. 검상돌기첨단과 치골상연간의 길이는 신장과 밀접한 상관관계를 보이고 있다. 6. 평균 신장은 163.4cm 이었다. 7. 평균 좌고는 141.6cm 이었다. The umbilicus is supposed to be located at the midst between the tip of the ensiform and the upper margin of the symphsis pubis and it is being commonly used as a marker of indicating the height of the fundus uteri by obstetricians in determinning the duration of pregnancy. In case of deviation of the position of the umbilicus, it is not reasonnable to utilize it as a marker in the obstetrical field. In order to clearify the anatomical position of the umbilicus the arbitrarily chosen 500 Korean women were biometrically examined and the following results were obtained. 1) The distance between the tip of the ensiform and the umbilicus is longer than that between the umbilicus and the upper margin of the symphysis pubis in majority. The distance between the tip of the ensiform and umbilicus is longer than that between the umbilicus and symphysis pubis in 69.4%; the former shorter than the latter in 21%, the same length in 9.6%. 2) The distance between the umbilicus and the left & right ant. sup. iliac spines were almost same and showed same type of distribution. 3) There were 9 cases(1.8%) in which the umbilicus located in the midst between the tip of the ensiform and the symphysis pubis and at the same distance from both the ant. sup. iliac spines. There were only 5 cases(1%) in which the umbilicus located at the same distance from the ensiform, symphysis pubis and both the ant. sup. iliac spines. 4) The average distance between the left & right ant. sup. iliac spines is 22.9 cm. The distribution showed a not normal, but symmetrical histrogram concentrating to the median. 5) The distance between the ensiform and the symphysis pubis and that between umbilicus and ant. sup. iliac spines showed close correlation to the body height. The distance between both the spines showed almost no correlation to it. 6) The average body height was 163.4 cm. 7) The average sitting height was 141.6 cm.
