Purpose: The purpose of this study was to examine the relationship between pigmental reaction and blood components, such as white blood cell (WBC), lymphocyte, monocyte, red blood cell (RBC), hemoglobin, mean corpuscular index (mean corpuscular volume (MCV), mean corpuscular hemoglobin (MCH) and mean corpuscular hemoglobin concentration (MCHC)), hematocrit, platelet and neutrophil segment, after Cupping Glass Therapy (CGT). Subjects: Twenty-five healthy adults participated in this study; Methods: Subjects had undergone CGT for 5 days and were divided into two groups (dark color (DCG) and light color (LCG)) depending the level of pigmental reaction. Blood was collected from each subject at the beginning of this study and recollected after 5 day s'CGT. Results: The percentage of lymphocytes was higher in LCG than in DCG after CGT (p<.01) and was significantly increased in LCD after CGT (p<.01), The number of RBC was more in DCG than in LCG both before (p<.01) and after CGT (p<.05). The amount of hemoglobin was more in DCG than in LCG both before (p<.01) and after CGT (p<.01) and was significantly increased in LCD after CGT (p<.01). Mean corpuscular index showed that both MCH (p<.05) and MCHC (p<.01) were higher in DCG than in LCG after CGT, but only MCHC before CGT (p<.01). It also showed either decreased MCV (p<.01) or increased MCHC in LCD after CGT (p<.01). Hematocrite was higher in DCG than in LCG both before (p<.01) and after CGT (p<.01). The percentage of neutrophil segments was higher in BCG than In LCG after CGT (p<.01) and was significantly decreased in LCD after CGT (p<.05). However, neither the number of WBC and platelets nor the percentage of monocytes was significantly different between DCG and LCG either before or after CGT. Conclusion: Pigmental reaction was significantly related to the changes of blood conponents after CGT. The results of this study suggest that CGT may have an effect on the components of blood cells.

Proprioception can be defined as a specialized variation of touch that encompasses the sensation of joint movement(kinesthesia) and joint position(static joint position sense). Several types of joint and muscular mechanoreceptors provide proprioceptive information for joint stability. Joint mechanoreceptors have been classified into four types based of activation characteristics : Ruffini endings, Pacinian corpuscles, Golgi tendon organlike endings, free nerve endings. The paper review the morphology, distrubution, function of mechanoreceptors in shoulder joint.

Objectives : The purpose of this study was to identify the effect of electro-acupuncture stimulation regarding restoration of range of motion on patients with frozen shoulder. Methods : Experimental group measured with shoulder flexion and abduction angle at pre and post electro-acupuncture stimulation. Results : There were statistically significant difference regarding change of flexion angle of electro-acupuncture stimulation(p<0.01) and the testing value of all levels had a significant difference with the value of final post-test(p<0.01). There were statistically significant difference regarding change of abduction angle of electro-acupuncture stimulation(p<0.01). Conclusions : Electro-acupuncture stimulation of distal part increased range of motion of frozen shoulder. Therefore, application of electro-acupuncture should be developed as a therapeutic method in treatment of frozen shoulder. Also, it can contribute as one of good therapeutic methods offered to patients through approach of oriental rehabilitation medicine.
The Effects The Type of Canes-Handle Affects in Recovering-Balance of Hemiplegic patients

Purpose: We compared T-type and I-type canes on postural balance in 28 hemiplegic patients. Methods: Subjects were allocated randomly into two groups: a T-shape cane group (n=14) and an I-shape cane group (n=14). Before the test, subjects were trained by a physical therapist to walk with a cane for 6 weeks. The Main Outcome Measures were measured as maximal sway velocity, sway path, sway area, and partial weight bearing using a Balance Performance Monitor (BPM) and ambulation velocity using a 'Timed up and go test'. We also measured the maximal ambulation velocity. Results: The distribution of weight bearing on the affected side without the cane was 35% in the I-shape cane group and 36% in the T-shape cane group. After training, weight bearing on the affected side increased by 45% in the I-shape cane group and 40% in the T-shape cane group. With the cane held in the hand, weight bearing on the affected side in the T-shape cane group decreased by 3%. Conclusion: The I-shaped cane increased static standing balance, including hemiplegic side weight bearing. Therefore, I-shape canes can improve the balance of hemiplegic patients.
