호흡기세포융합바이러스와 라이노바이러스의 단독 혹은 동시감염의 역학 및 임상적 특성: 강원 지역 단일 기관의 후향적 연구

Purpose: Respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) and human rhinovirus (hRV) are the most common causes of child respiratory viral infections. We aimed to investigate epidemiological and clinical characteristics of RSV and hRV single infections and coinfections. Methods: Nasopharyngeal aspirates of hospitalized children aged <5 years were tested using multiplex reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) from October 2014 to April 2017. Their medical records were retrospectively reviewed. Results: RSV or hRV was detected in 384 patients who divided into 3 groups: patients with RSV (R group, n=258); patients with hRV (H group, n=99); and patients with both (RH group, n=27). The R group (median age, 6 months) consisted of 248 (96.1%) patients with lower respiratory tract infection (LRTI), and 14 (5.4%) needed oxygen inhalation. Infants aged <12 months (63.2%) had respiratory difficulty and were supplied oxygen more often. The H group (median age, 16 months) consisted of 56 (56.6%) patients with LRTI, 4 (4%) required oxygen inhalation, and 1 (1.0%) required mechanical ventilation. Infants (40.4%) showed longer hospitalization compared to patients aged ≥12 months (5 vs. 4 days, P <0.05). The RH group consisted of 24 (88.9%) patients with LRTI, and 2 (7.4%) needed oxygen inhalation. Hospitalization days and oxygen inhalation and mechanical ventilation rates did not differ between single infections (R and H groups) and coinfections (RH group). Conclusions: RSV was detected more often in younger patients and showed higher LRTI rates compared to hRV. Single infections and coinfections of RSV and hRV showed no difference in severity. 목적: 호흡기세포융합바이러스(RSV)와 라이노바이러스(hRV)는 소아의 호흡기 바이러스감염의 가장 흔한 원인이다. 본 연 구는 RSV 혹은 hRV 감염으로 입원하는 소아의 역학, 임상적 특성, 혈액 검사 결과를 분석하고, 각 바이러스 단독 감염과 동 시 감염 간의 임상적 특성 및 혈액 검사 결과를 비교하고자 하였다. 방법: 2014년 10월부터 2017년 4월까지 매년 10월부터 4월 사이에 원주세브란스기독병원 소아청소년과에 호흡기 증상으로 입원한 만 5세 미만의 환아 중, 비강인두도말 검체로 다중 역전사 실시간 중합효소연쇄반응 검사를 시행하여 RSV 혹은 hRV 가 검출된 사례를 대상으로 의무기록을 후향적으로 분석하였다. 결과: 강원 지역 소아 호흡기 환자의 multiplex RT-PCR 바이러스 검출 패턴 상, RSV는 늦가을부터 초봄 사이, hRV는 연중 고 르게 분포하였다. RSV 혹은 hRV가 검출된 총 384례 중 RSV는 258례(R group), hRV는 99례(H group)에서 단독으로 검출되 었고, RSV와 hRV의 동시 검출은 27례에서 있었다(RH group). R군의 연령 중앙값은 6개월이었으며, 248례(96.1%)가 하기도 감염이었다. 산소치료는 14례(5.4%)에서 있었다. 12개월 미만의 영아가 반수 이상을 차지하였고(63.2%) 호흡곤란, 산소치료가 많았다. H군의 연령 중앙값은 16개월이었으며, 56례(56.6%)가 하기도 감염이었다. 산소치료는 4례(4.0%), 기계 호흡 은 1례(1.0%)에서 시행하였다. 영아(40.4%)는 12개월 이상 환자보다 재원기간이 길었다(5 vs. 4 days, P <0.05). RH군의 경우 24례(88.9%)가 하기도 감염이었고, 산소치료는 2례(7.4%)에서 있었다. RH군은 R군 및 H군과 비교하여 재원기간, 산소치료 및 기계 호흡의 비율에 차이가 없어, 동시 감염과 단독 감염의 유의한 중증도 차이는 없는 것으로 나타났다. 결론: RSV는 hRV보다 더 어린 연령에서 잘 이환되고 하기도 감염의 비율이 높았다. 동시 감염된 환자의 임상증상은 RSV 감 염의 특성이 보다 반영되었고, 단독 감염에 비해 중증도에 차이는 없었다.
Enhanced Carbon Materials with Physical Block and Catalytic Effects for Li-S Batteries

Nowadays portable electronic devices are used widely and these are indispensable part of everyday life. It makes secondary batteries important for future innovation. Li-S battery is becoming one of the promising batteries. It has high theoretical energy density and low cost. Also it is eco-friendly and safe. However, there is the primary problem to be commercialized, which is shuttle effect. It makes capacity decrease and internal resistance increase. To minimize the shuttle effect, we modified ordered mesoporous carbon(OMC) materials. OMC has high thermal and chemical stability, high surface area and high pore volume. First, we synthesized the OMC materials with micropore by introducing silica nanoparticles. We expected that polysulfides with long chain could be blocked due to the small pore size. In the second place, we loaded metal nanoparticles on the OMC. Nanoparticles of platinum could catalyze the reaction of polysulfides so dissolved polysulfides could be trapped.
Synthesis of Carbon Materials with Hierarchical Porosity and Catalytic Effects

Secondary batteries are becoming important with increased use of portable electronic devices. Li-ion battery is the most commonly used but it shows the limitation of capacity for electric vehicle. Li-S battery is a one of the promising alternative to Li-ion battery. It has high theoretical energy density, low cost, eco-friendliness and safety. But polysulfide anions are dissolved in the repetitive charging and discharging so it makes the capacity decrease, which is called shuttle effect. To minimize shuttle effect, we synthesized carbon materials with porosity and metal nanoparticles. Ordered mesoporous carbon (OMC) has high thermal and chemical stability, high surface area and high pore volume. We synthesized the OMC materials with micropores by introducing silica nanoparticles and loaded metal nanoparticles as the catalytic factor. The materials were characterized by X-ray diffraction(XRD), N2-sorption, scanning electron microscope(SEM), and energy dispersive X-ray(EDX).

In this study, the electrochemical characteristics of fuel cell were evaluated after applying a compressive load to the activation area of membrane electrode assembly (MEA) in polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cells. The effects of thepressed area under the compressive load were systematically investigated using polarization curves and electrochemical impedance spectroscopies (EIS) of the fuel cell. Interestingly, the performance of the fuel cell was improved as the pressed area of the MEA was increased from 25.2% to 100% of the active area. In addition, the increased pressed area led to a decrease in the ohmic resistance and the activation resistance of fuel cells.

OsREL2, a rice TOPLESS homolog functions in axillary meristem development in rice inflorescence

The morphology of the rice inflorescence,called the panicle, is determined mainly by the activities of axillary meristems including primary, secondary, and spikelet meristems. Recently, in maize, the RAMOSA1ENHANCER LOCUS2 (REL2) gene, orthologous to the Arabidopsis shoot apical meristem fate-determining TOPLESS,was shown to be involved in the regulation of axillary meristem determinacy. In order to investigate the function of the rice REL2 homolog, we identified and characterized the rice REL2 gene (OsREL2). Compared to other rice TPL homologs, OsREL2 gene expression stayed relatively low throughout panicle development. We characterized a T-DNA insertion osrel2 mutant that showed pleiotropic phenotypic defects, such as defects in panicle heading, sterile lemma elongation, and panicle development,suggesting the OsREL2 functions in multiple developmental processes. In particular, osrel2 developed shorter axillary branches and reduced numbers of lateral organs on axillary branches in comparison to the wild-type,indicating that OsREL2 is important in axillary meristem maintenance. Interestingly, osrel2 produced more primary branches and fewer secondary branches than the wild-type. These results suggest that OsREL2 is involved in branch formation regulation, presumably by suppressing primary branch formation and promoting secondary branch formation.
