한국기업과 선진국기업의 외향적 해외직접투자 특징 비교: 정부의 OFDI 지원정책을 중심으로

세계가 개방화되고 글로벌화 됨에 따라, 한국도 다각적 차원에서 적극적으로 FTA 체결을 확대해 나가고 있으며 이를 활용한 국내 기업들의 해외진출 지원 필요성이 증대되고 있다. 본 연구에서는 외향적 해외직접투자(OFDI, outward FDI)의 효과를 극대화하기 위한 방안으로서 한국기업과 주요 선진국기업을 대상으로 OFDI 수행 시, 고려해야 할 주요 네 가지 중요한 정부지원정책에 대해 실증분석을 수행하였다. 분석결과, 시장맞춤형 OFDI 지원, 해외 네트워크 지원, 규제완화 및 개선이라는 세 가지 부문에서는 한국기업이 다른 선진국기업에 비해 그 필요성을 보다 더 크게 느끼고 있었으며, 정부의 자금지원측면에서는 두 그룹 모두 필요성을 크게 인식하여 통계적으로 유의한 차이가 나타나지 않았다. Increasing the connectivity and interdependence of business caused by globalization, forcing institutional transformation to adopt open-door policy, Korean government has expanded the scope of FTA, while setting up various financial incentives for local firms to promote overseas expansion. This study employed four policy and institutional factors as key determinants of OFDI (outward foreign direct investment), and empirically analyzed their influences in different contexts of Korea and other advanced countries. Dealing with foreign firms in advanced countries as a comparative benchmark, the findings derived from empirical analyses suggest that more market adaptable OFDI support (conforming to market principle), more oversea network support, as well as relaxation of regulation and institutional improvement are prerequisites for Korean firms’ OFDI success. Regarding a government financial assistance-OFDI link, no significant differences between them were found in our empirical models.
