From six surface sediment samples in Do-am Bay, Jeonanm Province, a number of sponge spicules, a few of silicoflagellates, and some diatom frustules occurred. Of those sponge spicules, monaxons mainly composed of oxea, styles and so forth are dominant but other spicules of triaxon, tetraxons and polyaxon are very rare. While above siliceous micro-organism remains are concentrated in the sites of innermost and mouth in the bay, other sites are relatively low in the occurrences of the micro-organism remains. In addition, a few of dark silicoflagellate individuals which are mostly dictyochids are restricted in the innermost site of the bay. Above results indicate that the bay is a warm littoral environment with the rearrangement of sediments connected with topography, and influences by open sea are very weak.

Extracting from diatomaceous mudstones in the Hakjeon Formation of Hasongri area, Pohang, 100 individuals of Archaeospaheridium pachyceros, archaeomonad, and of Actiniscus pentasterias, actiniscid, were studied in the aspect of morphological variations, respectively. From the results of the study, Archaeosphaeridium pachyceros individuals showed wide variations in spine development and cyst body and Actiniscus pentasterias ones presented variations in ray arrangement. So, it is considered that some morphological variations would be re-examined in specific or infra-specific classification levels.
포항시 송라 부근 신제3기층에서 산출되는 cruxoid와 septamesocenid 규편모류의 산출 특성

From the Neogene Hakjeon Formation in Songra area, 7 silicoflagellate species belonging to 3 genera occurred. Of the silicoflagellates, cruxoid and mesocenid individuals were studied in skeletal features with respect to classification aspect. In the results, Distephanus crux ssp. parvus and D. crux ssp. scutulatus were recognized. In addition, paleoenvironmental approaches were performed in the silicoflagellates in the area. In the study results, cruxoids and mesocenids of the area might have potential values in biostratigraphical and paleoenvironmental study. On the bases of silicoflagellate flora, it is inferred that sedimentary environments were highly energetic and scarcely influenced by surrounding landmass during the deposition of the formation.
포항분지 북동부의 신제3기 연일층군에서 산출되는 에브리디안의 형태적 특성에 대한 예비적 고찰

Three diatomaceous mudstone samples for the morphological study of ebridians were taken from the Hakjeon and the Duho formations of the northeastern area in Pohang Basin. Eleven ebridian species belonging to nine genera were identified in the samples. On the basis of ebridian assemblages, above two formations are correlated with Middle Miocene in age. And, the re-examination to some taxa of Ammodochium cf. A. rectangulare and Ebrinula sp. are necessary in time interval. Ebridian individuals from the samples show many varieties including double skeletal, hypersilicified and/or lorica bearing ones in skeletal morphology. Of these varieties, hypersilicification is remarkable in ebridian skeletons from the samples. But the distinct hypersilicified skeletons in the samples are mainly restricted to some taxa which are triaenes of Hermesinella and Hermesinum and a triode species of Ebriopsis antiqua. Other ebridian taxa are lowly or not in hypersilicification level. So, it is considered that hypersilicification in ebridian skeleton is a kind of taxa-related morphological features.

This study aimed at analyzing 113 activities developed for middle school science gifted students by Chonnam National University Science Education Center for Gifted between the school years 2003 and 2005. The analysis framework designed is consisted of 4 factors: number of activities, type of materials and activities, educational objective domains, contents of the program, cognitive thinking, and inquiry process. The results showed that all activities were written in the form of worksheet, consisting of introductory knowledge, questions and blank for answer. 70 percent of activities were classified as high school level, and 25 percent as college level. The most activities were type of activities in laboratory, role play and discussion method were rare. The most activities were basic inquiry type, and required convergent thinking rather than divergent thinking. Therefore higher inquiry experiments and creative activities should be contained and the contents for divergent thinking should be reflected more on the distance education materials. 과학영재교육을 하기 위해서는 과학영재 의 영재성에 대한 철학과 정의에 대한 이해, '과학영재 교육 프로그램의 목적과 목표 설정, 과학영재 교육과정과 수업지도안 등의 프로그램 개발, 과학영재 동정 및 선정, 과학영재 교육 프로그램에 대한 평가 및 피드백과 관련한 계획을 세워야 하며 이후에 여러 관련프로그램에 대한 정보를 수집하여 프로그램 에 대한 평가를 통해 영재아들에게 적절한 것을 준비해야 한다(심규철, 1994).

Considerable amount of unidentified siliceous microfossil individuals and fragmenfs were observed in the Hakjeon Formation of the Yeonil Group, Songra area, Pohang. They are maybe belonged to phytoliths and chrysophycean remains including cysts and scales in morphology, mostly. But some unidentified microfossils are of other taxa in possible. From the occurrences of phytoliths and chrysophycean stomatocysts, it is inferred that terrigenous sediments influenced the deposition of the Hakjeon Formation in the study area.
경북 포항분지 북부 지역의 연일층군(제3기)에서 산출되는 포낭류 화석을 비롯한 소수 규질 미화석군에 대한 연구

From the Tertiary Yeonil Group distributed in Songra and Cheongha areas, the northern part of the PohangBasin, nine archaeomonad species belonging to two genera, and other three types of chryophycean cysts considered asstomatocysts, five endoskeletal dinoflagellate species belonging to three genera and eighteen ebridian species belonging toeleven genera were identified. Based on above siliceous microfossil assemblages, the Yeonil Group is corresponded to(in Central Japan) by its archaeomonad cysts. And, the group is correlated with the intervals of Actiniscus elongatus toMiddle Hermesinella conata zones in Southwest Pacific region and of Spongebria miocenica to Middle Hermesinellaschulzii zones in Vøring Plateau, Norwegian Sea, based on the ebridian assemblages of the group. From thechrysophycean cyst including archaeomonad, endoskeletal dinoflagellate and ebridian assemblages in the Yeonil Group ofthe study area, it is inferred that cold water masses dominated during the deposition of the group with occasional warmwater. The upper part of the group might be somewhat colder than the lower one of the group in depositional condition.In addition, minute chrysopycean cysts considered as stomatocysts suggest the influence of fresh or brackish water duringthe deposition of the group..........
