A periodic inspection for facilities in operation is an inspection that is carried out regularly, in which inspection cycles are drawn up, and it is a series of tests to determine if the condition of all the equipment is maintained, and to identify whether they are to be used or replaced. Reliability should be enhanced, without a breakdown, by preliminary inspection and regular checks for each equipment item installed for equipment maintenance. It was noticed that there was a slight difference for the same facility, and for each organization in terms of inspection cycles and methods while preparing procedures of periodic inspection checklist, inspection methods and cycles for a related organization. Therefore, this paper reviews the optimal methods of inspection procedures for Seoul Metro.

Derail accident of train and motorcar through signal override causes such a huge obstruction in train service. To minimize such derail accidents, number of bills were examined such as installing normal and reverse position indicator on the switch. A indicator was necessary which does not affect current equipments and not to be confused as traffic lights. Normal and reverse position indicator is installed in the middle of the rail in front of front rod of switch. It is to prevent derail accident while manual handling of obstacle by ease of verifying normal and reverse position by attendants or motorcar driver. Also, it is a device that prevents accidents by indicating normal and reverse position of switch during night service of motorcar. Such a prevention accomplished through thorough maintenancework of equipment, precise handling of operators and exterior factors are eliminated or perceived and treated well.

This paper present investigation of interoperable process and interaction-facts between urban and new ATS signalling system for degrading improvement or replacement in wireless communication-based train control system of urban driverless transit. and investigate interoperable requirement from joint program of cooperation -"wireless communication-based train control system's standard process construction and performance evaluation on urban transit" of first year result.

Memory-device is one of the auxiliary components of point-switch machine; connecting front-rod and tongue-rail. The right side and left side of memory-device are different from each other. When there would be a derailing accident of rolling stock or motor-car, the memory-device properly bends and protects the internal of point-switch machine. Memory-device is one of the important site maintenance spare parts. Memory-device for each of right and left side should be secured so that they can be installed on correct side during an exchange work. This study suggests the development of memory-device with different left and right side and the performance test of it. The study intends to contribute in the convenience improvement of maintenance by improving the unification of memory-device.

The terms of track is a train-only line for a train service, in premises of station of a station, that the unit over the track for turnout the track from one track to another track, which it changes the course from the main track that is used for operating a train to the side track, is called a turnout The stick strength of tongue rail is adjusting uniform pressure on the both sides, the adhesion strength between a basic rail and tongue rail has to maintain over 100kg of power value to open over 1mm the ends. This study suggested developing a measuring instrument that can measure a basic rail and the stick strength of a movable rail in according with a switch, such as a switch point, and a performance test. This study ties to be helped that it improves measuring usability for the maintainers through improving quality in a stick measuring instrument, that it solves a technique in the site difficulties through improving a measuring instrument, with reducing the obstacles and expenses.

Railway signal facilities are very important because they are directly related to safe train operation. By the result of the unification of signal and station control, station control staffs have been having a hard time to grasp the knowledge about signal facilities and the fault restoration ability in a short term since the existing manuals were only made with text materials. To meet the growing demand to educate the maintenance work in actual and effective way, the maintenance manuals and periodic procedures was developed in the forms of video clips and animations with quality contents onto a DVD enabling not only to improve the maintenance works for signal facilities but to contribute budget saving and profit generating.

A lights-out detector, which helps the person in charge of maintenance make a quick judgment in the event of a failure of LED-type traffic lights, was explored/developed and installed/ tested, at Seoul Metro, after they developed a patented pilot product in 2005; and, a product improvement test was conducted to ensure reasonable maintenance of signaling facilities. Having better compatibility with existing circuit in use and displaying stable load current, the device makes the maintenance of lights-out detection and alert easier.

Metro Subway System is widely known as the leader of public transportation in a metropolitan area. The signal interlocking is one of the most important organs that plays a major role in the system. By improving the quality of signal lights on the traffic system and keeping its maintenance on a high level will not only repair the current state, but it will also let the LED type signal semi-permanent. The device, which underwent a process of fine manufacture ? establishment and a close examination, obtained a patented article (2004, as a new device). Utilizing the equipment with cautious preservation on the system will enhance the current state of the signal device. Especially, the test for improvement and development based upon the technique that decreases the frequency of defect produced will further precipitate its efficiency. With authorization of imposing the LED lights on production, installment, and investigation of the system, the newly made equipment will bring improvement to the signal technology and to the industry at largest extent.
