일본 애니메이션 <하울의 움직이는 성>에 나타난 여신(女神)의 원형적 가치와 상징성 고찰

The purpose of this study is to discuss the work from the viewpoint of goddess culture with values of peace, natural vitality, equality, and inclusiveness through Miyazaki Hayao’s Japanese animation <Howl’s Moving Castle>. This value of goddess culture is closely related to female characters, flights, dreams and reminiscences, communities, and nature, which are the core elements suggested by director Miyazaki in his animation works. The value of <Howl’s Moving Castle> is that it suggests the need to restore the goddess culture that humanity has lost. The restoration of the goddess culture is more important in the possibility of transforming modern society into a peaceful atmosphere than in the way conflicts lead to war for mutual benefit. 본 연구의 목적은 미야자키 하야오의 일본 애니메이션 <하울의 움직이는 성>을 통해서 평화, 자연의 생명력, 평등, 그리고 포용의 가치를 지닌 여신 문화의 관점에서 작품을 논의하는 것이다. 여신 문화가 지닌 이러한 가치는 미야자키 감독이 그의 애니메이션 작품들 속에서 제시하는 핵심적 요소인 여성 인물, 비행, 꿈과 회상, 공동체, 그리고 자연 등과 긴밀한 연계성을 지니기 때문이다. <하울의 움직이는 성>이 지닌 가치는 인류가 상실한 여신 문화의 회복 필요성을 제시하고 있다는 점이다. 여신 문화의 회복은 서로 간의 이익을 위해서 갈등을 전쟁으로 연결하는 모습보다는 현대 사회를 평화로운 분위기로의 전환 가능성에서 중요하다.

Comparison of Action Observation Training and Visual Cueing Training on Walking Ability and Balance in Parkinson’s Disease Patients

Purpose: This study examined the effects of action observation training (AOT) and visual cueing training (VC) on the gait performance, balance, functional mobility, and quality of life in Parkinson's disease patients. Methods: A randomized controlled trial was conducted from June to August 2024 at C Hospital in Cheongju, involving 15 Parkinson's disease patients. The participants were selected based on Hoehn- Yahr stages 1–3 and a score of 24 or higher on the MMSE-K; those with a history of neurological or orthopedic disorders were excluded. The participants were assigned randomly to the AOT or VC group and underwent training five times weekly for four weeks, each session lasting 20 minutes. The VC group performed gait training using the visual cues placed on the floor, while the AOT group watched videos related to gait and then performed the same movements. The gait and balance abilities were assessed using the 10-meter walk test (10MWT), timed up and go (TUG), five-times sit-to-stand test (5STS), Berg balance scale (BBS), the Parkinson's disease quality of life questionnaire (PDQL), and G-WALK. All statistical analyses were conducted using SPSS version 24.0. Results: AOT induced greater improvement in TUG and 10MWT, indicating a positive effect on motor learning and neuroplasticity. By contrast, VC was more effective in enhancing the stride length and balance than AOT by strengthening the gait rhythm and stability. Conclusion: AOT helped promote motor learning and social engagement, while VC improved balance and gait rhythm.

강화의 샤먼문화를 통한 축제 콘텐츠 고찰

Recently, local governments are demanding creative cultural tourism contents that can effectively promote local image in order to revitalize the local economy and enhance the value of the region. Ganghwa Island is a place where the dolmen of the Bronze Age and the roots and the holy land of the Korean people are located. These cultural heritages of Ganghwa Island are very valuable in that they can plan local cultural contents with creativity and imagination. Therefore, if the shamans scattered around the world are used as festival contents in harmony with the Shaman culture and materials of the Ganghwa area and are suitable for the modern sense, many foreigners and locals who have visited Ganghwa area will be able to experience the essence of nature-friendly Shaman culture by escaping from the stiff urban space. 최근 지역자치단체들은 지역의 경제 활성화와 지역의 가치를 높이기 위해서 효과적으로 지역의 이미지 홍보할 수 있는 창의적인 문화관광 콘텐츠들을 필요로 하고 있다. 강화도는 원시 인류의 숨결이 살아 있는 청동기 시대의 고인돌과 한민족의 뿌리이자 성지라고 할 수 있는 마니산 참성단이 소재하고 있는 공간이다. 이러한 강화도의 문화유산들은 창의력과 상상력이 발현된 지역 문화콘텐츠를 기획할 수 있는 소재라는 점에서 매우 가치가 있다. 따라서 전 세계에 흩어져 있는 샤먼들이 강화 지역의 샤먼문화 및 소재들과 조화를 이루면서 현대적 감각에 맞는 축제콘텐츠로 활용된다면, 강화지역을 찾는 많은 외국인들과 내국인들은 답답한 도시 공간을 벗어나 자연친화적인 샤먼문화의 정수를 경험할 수 있게 될 것이다.

A Study on the Existential Meaning and Value of Modern People through The Fixer

This study intends to discuss the process by which individual persecution and oppression based on a Jewish background in Bernard Malamud's The Fixer is extended to all modern problems. Malamud's The Fixer effectively presents the problem of injustice and persecution experienced by Jews based on actual events. The Jewish protagonist in The Fixer realizes that attempts to evade Jewish traditions and identities, which are not properly recognized in Russian society, are a situation in which they are imprisoned in a mental prison. Malamud extends the problem of isolation and alienation experienced by Jews to the problem of humanity as a whole. In conclusion, Malamud reminds readers that in situations of pain and oppression, rather than sinking into frustration and helplessness, they should realize the meaning and value of pain.

영화 <마이 시스터즈 키퍼>에 나타난 질병과 생명윤리 고찰

The purpose of this study The purpose of this study is to discuss the existence of therapeutic means through genetic engineering, the right to bodily autonomy, bioethics, and the necessity of hospice care through My Sister’s Keeper, a movie directed by Nick Cassavetes about the sacrifices a family must make for a terminally ill patient. In the movie, the life of the female protagonist has existential value as a means to a therapeutic end. The heroine raises the issue of bioethics by being born as a custom baby. The movie My Sister’s Keeper also borrows the subject matter of a lawsuit between family members. The movie closely presents the principles of autonomy based on bioethics and human dignity that can arise during the treatment process of a sick family member. Basically, the positive aspects of ‘custom-made babies’ can be found in the prevention and treatment of diseases with medical limitations. On the other hand, the negative aspects can be cited as problems in the level of bioethics and misuse of commercial use beyond the function of prevention and treatment. The commercial aspect of ‘custom-made babies’ is that it can expand into a business of investment and sales to secure superior genes by modifying genes or traits according to the preferences of parents, separate from medical prevention and treatment. This distortion of the essence of ‘custom-made babies’ has the potential to infringe upon the value of human life. In the movie, the factor that makes the patient suffer is not simply physical pain, but the awareness of the family’s miserable life caused by him. In the end, the patient is faced with a time of choice for the happiness of his family as he witnesses the dedicated sacrifice. It can be said that the one-sided effort to extend life is rather the decisive factor that makes the patient suffer. The sacrificial efforts of families for the patients within the family have limitations. This is because the patients can experience regret, guilt, and physical pain toward their families. In conclusion, life extension without the patient’s opinion forces suffering, and the need for hospice services for a dignified death is required.

This study aims to examine the coherence of language input, from both lexical and syntactic perspectives, in a corpus of ten disparate high school English textbooks, curated in congruity with the 2015 revised national curriculum. Evaluative measures for the lexical stratum include vocabulary coverage, lexical diversity, and mean word length (MWL), all of which are juxtaposed for comparison, while divergence across textbooks is subjected to statistical investigation employing mean sentence length (MSL). Additionally, the Flesch-Kincaid Grade Level (FKGL) is utilized to gauge syntactic consistency. The findings suggest significant statistical variation. Specifically, differences in vocabulary level, diversity, and average word length precipitated statistically significant disparities in 2, 7, and 3 out of 10 textbooks respectively. Moreover, variances in average sentence length, attributable to syntactic peculiarities, induced statistical differences in 4 out of 10 textbooks, and FKGL contributed to differences in 2 textbooks. These outcomes indicate the imperative need to uphold consistency in linguistic input across high school English textbooks. The insights gleaned from this research are intended to guide the trajectory of future education policies.

『베오울프』를 통해 본 서양문명의 자연의 타자화 고찰

The purpose of this study is to analyze how the ethnic groups of the East Asian nomadic races are portrayed and the negative images are connected to Westerners through cultural origins and symbols in Beowulf, which is a combination of Christian values ​​and Germanic perspectives. Beowulf is a story about the heroes of the Germanic people, but it is a work with a Christian perspective in the process of describing in writing letters that have been passed on to the oral tradition of Christianity in the later years. Beowulf and Grendel form two distinct axes, good and evil, which are depicted in the work as images of light and darkness. In this work Grendel is an image of a wolf symbolizing an ancient East Asian nomadic ethnic group. The immigrants from East Asia who came to Europe along the pasture, where animals can be eaten, worship dragons as life of primitive nature and live according to the nature of nature. The fact that the emblems representing nature are perceived as objects of conquest and elimination can be said to provide an opportunity to constantly typify nature and identify objects of conquest. In other words, it can be seen that Christian civilization denies all pagan civilizations other than Christianity by worshiping nature, rejecting the horizontal relation between nature and man, and looking from a vertical perspective. In the beginning, human beings have tried to be in awe of nature and united with nature, and worship and awe of this nature were unacceptable in Christian worship of God alone. In conclusion, from a Christian point of view, nature is an object that must be destroyed and eliminated. Therefore, this Christian perspective can be said to recognize nature as an object of conquest and to connect with the viewpoint of the West.

정신분석을 통해 본 모험관광 참여 동기 고찰

The purpose of this study is to identify the essential factors of the desire for adventure tourism, such as risk and the possibility of death, by utilizing the psychoanalytic theories of Sigmund Freud and Jacques Lacan in the tourism field. The researcher viewed the motivation to participate in adventure tourism as originating from the desire to satisfy human deficiencies. The desire to satisfy deficiencies can be classified into three types according to mental symptoms. The basic motivation to participate in adventure tourism can be described as the constant pursuit of human desire to satisfy deficiencies. Basically, Lacan's stages of mental symptoms can be applied to various types of adventure tourism. The value of this study is that it not only identifies factors for immersion, passion, and active participation in adventure tourism while applying psychological symptom levels to adventure tourism, but also includes the possibility of healing. In conclusion, adventure tourism participants can experience more enjoyment and excitement along with increased risk and the possibility of death.

유진 오닐의 『황제 존스』에 나타난 인간 구원의 문제 연구

본 연구의 목적은 작품의 주인공이 아프리카 전통 종교에 대항하면서 내적 변화의 과정을 거치면서 구원을 받을 수 있는 가능성에 대해서 살펴보는 것이 다. 위대한 드라마 작가인 유진 오닐은 『황제 존스』에서 아프리카 전통 종교와 기독교 사이에서 갈등을 겪고 있는 주인공을 성공적으로 묘사하고 있다. 아프리 카 전통 종교는 신비로운 힘이고 영적인 개념으로 설명될 수 있다. 영적인 존재 인 살아있는 조상 혼령은 아프리카인들의 마음에 깊이 새겨져 있고 그것은 그 들에게 강한 영향력을 행사하고 있다. 극의 첫 장면에서 존스는 기독교 믿음의 핵심인, 그리스도에 대한 믿음이 그렇게 크지 않다. 예를 들어, 그는 은 총알만 이 자신을 죽일 수 있다는 아프리카 전통 종교의 신화를 만들고 있다. 비록 존 스가 아프리카 원주민들이 만든 은 총알에 의해서 죽임을 당함에도 불구하고, 그는 구원의 가능성을 부여받는다. 왜냐하면, 그는 자신이 내적 좌절을 경험할 때마다 무릎을 꿇고 그리스도를 향해서 기도를 올리고 있기 때문이다. The purpose of this paper is to examine the possibility of ‘salvation’ through the process of protagonist’s inner change against African traditional religion. The greatest dramatist, Eugene O’Neill describes protagonist’s conflict successfully between the African traditional religion and Christianity in The Emperor Jones. African traditional religion is mystical power and the concept of spirit. The existence of spirit, the living-dead has structured a place at the center of the African’s mind where it can reside and strongly influence. At the first scene, the core belief of Christianity, Jesus Christ, does not have a sufficient place in Jones’ belief. For example, he makes a myth that only a silver bullet can kill him. Thus, Jones uses the strong influence of the traditional religion which still resides in Africans’ belief. Although Jones is killed by a silver bullet Africans made, he is given the possibility of salvation. Because he prays toward Jesus Christ with kneeling down at every moment of his internal distress.
