        요골 신경 염전: 증례 보고

        Peripheral nerve torsion is a rare cause of peripheral nerve palsy and its etiology is also unknown. It is usually misdiag-nosed as compressive neuropathy or radiculopathy of spine though the treatment and clinical result are different from them. Authors present a case of radial nerve torsion. The symptom was same with a posterior interosseous nerve syn-drome. However, the lesion is located not at forearm but at arm. 말초 신경 염전(peripheral nerve torsion)은 말초 신경 마비(peripheral nerve palsy)를 발생시키는 드문 질환으로 그 발생 원인도 아직 알려진 바 없다. 말초 신경 염전은 보통 압박성 신경 병증(compressive neuropathy)이나 척추 신경근 병증(radiculopathy)으로 잘못 진단되는 경우가 많으며 그 치료 및 결과도 다르다. 저자들은 상완부(arm)에서 요골 신경 염전이 발생하였으나 신경 증상으로 수지 하수(finger drop)만 발생하여 후골간 신경 증후군(posterior interosseous nerve syndrome)으로 오인되었던 요골 신경 염전 증례를 보고하는 바이다.

      • 마이크로파의 하수슬러지 건조 특성

        최근 하수슬러지의 고형연료화와 관련하여 건조 기술에 대한 관심이 높아지고 있다. 현재 산업용 건조 기술에는 여러 가지가 있으나, 일반적으로 대류 열전달 방법인 열풍 건조가 많이 이용되고 있다. 그러나 열풍 건조는 유지 관리 비용이 크며, 외부 조건에 영향을 받는 등의 운전상 어려움이 있다. 이에 비해 마이크로파 건조는 복사에 의한 내부가열 방식으로 건조시간을 단축시킬 수 있으며, 에너지효율 면에서도 뛰어나다. 그러나 국내에서는 적용 실적 및 성공 사례의 부족으로 인해 활용되지 못하고 있는 실정이다. Batch type의 lab-scale 1 ~ 4kW급 마이크로파 건조기를 사용하였으며, 하수슬러지 건조 시 피건조물의 최적 투입 두께는 2 cm 이하, 마이크로파의 최적 조사 높이는 조사너비의 70%로 도출되었다. 건조효율 평가를 위하여 2.4 kW급 열풍 건조기를 이용하여 비교 실험을 진행한 결과, 열풍 건조에 비해 마이크로파 건조가 동일 조건 하에서 건조시간은 2.7배 단축되었으며, 수분증발효율은 4배 높은 것으로 나타났다. 특히 수분함량 60 ~ 10% 구간의 수분증발효율은 마이크로파가 열풍보다 약 6배 높은 것으로 나타났으며, 피건조물의 초기 수분함량이 낮을수록 마이크로파 건조가 더 유리한 것을 확인하였다.

        CFD 해석을 통한 임펠러 형상에 따른 인라인 믹서의 혼화 특성 비교

        Inline mixer, mixing device combined mechanical and hydraulic mixing, has been demonstrated many times to be effective in mixing process for coagulation. But most of inline mixer are difficult to utilize in relevant domestic industry since it is a foreign technology. So the development of domestic inline mixer is strongly needed. In this study, we compared mixing characteristics through computational fluid dynamics(CFD) analysis with different shape of impeller for the development of domestic inline mixer. The shape of the flow field by velocity vectors and the concentration distribution of injected coagulant were analyzed for comparison of the results. We chose two shapes of impeller(plate and screw), the CFD analysis for them was conducted to simulate actual field conditions. The screw-shaped impeller showed more well-mixing characteristics than the plate-shaped impeller from the results. On the other hand, short-circuiting flow could occur when the shape of impeller was plate.

        Tariff barriers and industrial spillover effects

        Purpose – The purpose of this paper is to demonstrate that higher tariffs under protectionism will have significant indirect impact through industrial forward and backward linkages, causing greater economic losses to tariff-imposing economies than to exporting countries. Design/methodology/approach – The authors use partial equilibrium analysis based on unique multiregional input-output (IO) data in measuring the second-round spillover effects of higher tariffs, also investigating the scenario of plausible substitutability across import sources as well as sectors based on historical import intensity data. Findings – Higher tariffs do not only have a direct impact, but also a significant indirect impact—through forward and backward linkages. Indirect effects can be extensive across economies and sectors—both in forward and backward linkages such as in transport—when value chains are longer and more complex. When possible substitution effects between different import sources and sectors are considered, negative forward linkage effects can be smaller, while negative backward linkage effects become more pronounced. Nevertheless, both negative effects are still found to be much bigger in indirect impacts compared with direct impacts. Research limitations/implications – This implies that higher tariffs, including administrative trade measures such as anti-dumping duties and countervailing duties could ironically entail rather greater negative impact on the tariff-imposing importing economies by damaging their exports of domestic sectors using the targeted imports as intermediate inputs, which could be severe if the importing sector has a long value chain in particular through deep forward linkages. Originality/value – This paper uses unique multi-regional IO data covering 45 economies’ 35 sectors in analyzing the second-round spillover effects across countries and sectors and employs comparative statics under different scenarios.

        고형물 회수공정 결합형 신개념 음식폐기물 디스포저 시스템의 개발 및 성능 평가

        A food waste disposer is an electrically powered device installed under a kitchen sink. It is located between the sink’s drain and the trap which shreds food waste into tiny pieces so that they can go through plumbing. Use of this unit is convenient and hygienic for discharging food waste in kitchen. Nevertheless, this unit has been illegal until now in Korea because of both conflict with the government’s policy-resource recovery from food waste-and perceived threat to the city’s sewer system. An attempt was made recently to meet growing need to introduce this unit for advantage of using disposer and maintenance of sewer system, etc. So an attempt was made to introduce the food waste disposer system of ‘treatment type before discharging to sewer’, but it was inappropriate for conditions in Korean. In this study, we developed a suitable disposer system for Korea based on an innovative solid recovery technology. And continuous operating experiments were carried out to evaluate the performance of the system for 18 days. The amount of food waste fed into the system was equivalent to the daily amount of food waste made from 30 households living in apartment units, which was calculated to be 14.44 kg/day. After grinding, SS/TS of food waste was 60 percent and it was the maximum amount of solid that could be recovered using this system. In the system of solid collection type using screw press, more than 70 percent of suspended solids were recovered. And less than 20 percent of total soilds were discharged through wastewater and it satisfied the legal standard of Korea. This novel food waste disposer system will satisfy with both the government’s environmental policy and higher quality resource recovery from food waste in the facilities.
