Purpose: This study was to investigate patient safety perception and patient participation, and to provide basic data for the development of patient participation education programs. Methods: The subjects of this study were 183 patients with at least one experience of the Hemato-oncology Department at a tertiary hospital in Seoul. Data were collected from April 11, 2019 to May 7, 2019 using structured questionnaires including patient safety perception and patient participation. Results: The patient safety perception score was 4.23±0.48 out of 5. The patient participation score was 4.30±0.53 out of 5. Patient safety perception was significantly different according to age (p=.008), education (p=.045), employment status (p=.031), marital state (p=.037), medical department (p=.004), comorbidity (p=.046), and patient participation education (p=.010). Patient participation was significantly difference in age (p=.020), education (p=.004) and employment status (p=.005). The correlation between the patient safety perception and patient participation was statistically significant (r=.75, p<.001). Conclusion: It is necessary to improve the system for medical staff, patients and medical institutions in order to enable patients to communicate with medical staff in a satisfactory manner and participate in patient safety activities.

본 연구의 목적은 초보 미술치료사들이 조기종결을 통해 무엇을 경험하며, 그 경험의 체험적 의미와 본질은무엇인지 이해하기 위한 것이다. 연구참여자는 임상경력이 5년 미만인 7명의 미술치료사였으며, 2017년 2월부터2017년 5월까지 인터뷰를 통해 자료를 수집하였다. 자료는 van Manen의 해석학적 현상학 방법으로 분석하였다. 자료 분석 결과 26개의 의미단위와 7개의 하위주제 그리고 <어느 날 갑자기 찾아온 이별>, <흔들리고 아픈시간들>, <어둠이 있기에 더욱 빛나는 별> 3개의 본질적 주제를 도출하였다. 본질적 주제를 바탕으로 한 경험의 의미는 다음과 같다. 첫째, 초보미술치료사는 조기종결의 책임이 자신에게 있다고 생각하는 동시에 조기종결에 대한 책임을 부모에게 돌리는 모순적인 태도를 가지고 있었다. 둘째, 초보미술치료사는 조기종결을 통하여 원가족과의 자신의 미해결된 과제를 직면했다. 셋째, 초보미술치료사는 아동미술치료에서 부모와의 치료동맹의 실패는 조기종결로 이어지고 있음을 발견하고 부모교육의 중요성을 재인식하였다. 넷째, 초보 미술치료사는치료를 종결하는 과정에서 좌절과 장애물을 극복하면서 치료사로서 성장할 수 있었다. The purpose of this study was to understand therapists' subjective experience of early termination of therapy and to explore the implicit meanings of the experience. The participants were seven art therapists with clinical experience of less than 5 years. The data were analyzed using van Manen's methodology of hermeneutical phenomenology, 27 meaning units, seven sub-themes, and three essential themes were identified. The essential themes were “unexpected sudden parting,” “the hours of mental confusion and pain,” and “stars shining brighter in the dark.” The conclusions of the study were as follows. First, it was found, while novice art therapists felt responsible for early termination of therapy, on the other hand, they simultaneously had a desire to protest the termination and a contradictory attitude of attributing the premature termination to the parents. Second, novice art therapists encountered unresolved tasks with their families of origin through early termination of therapy, which affected the premature termination. Third, it was found that the failure of treatment alliance with parents in art therapy for children led to early termination of therapy, and the importance of parent counseling was again recognized. Fourth, it was shown that a novice art therapists can grow up as a therapist while overcoming the frustrations and obstacles encountered in the course of the premature termination of therapy.
