      • MCH로 전처리된 혼합연료유의 디젤엔진사용 표준시스템과 연소특성에 관한 연구

        In 2005 as a part of a business supporting service of MOMAF, a study was accomplished on the chance of blended oil of MF30 to be used on fishing vessels with 3 kinds of pre-treatment facility models of Purifier, MCH and Purifier + MCH. The result of the study shows that MF30 blended oil, inspite of any kind of pretreatment applied, is possible to maintain the similar combustion state compared with MDO and save 30% of fuel cost as long as appropriate engine load, fuel temperature and filtering grade is kept according to users' manual. In a consequence of the study, fisheries industry afraid of increasing fuel cost demanded strongly additional research on limitation of using blended oil to the government. Therefore, in consideration by the government of the fisheries industry's situation, I comprised limitation of using blended oil, standard system of blended oil facilities, illegality of matter of giving off SOx, NOx and harmful exhaust gas in present regulation of international convention, development of simple fuel mixing equipment to reserve two kinds of fuel before being mixed in ship, installation expense of pre-treatment to compare with saving fuel cost following by using blending oil, shortened maintenance term and increasing the depreciation expense of engine, economical efficiency by analysis of total increased cost etc, under the name of the studies on the standardization for the system using blended oil in the fishing vessel through 2years of study based on policy of special research on fisheries from 2007 to 2008. I wish to describe here as it is summarized study-contents that related the title of this paper.

      • MCH로 전처리한 이종연료 사용시 디젤엔진의 NOx와 Soot 배출특성에 관한 연구

        The objectives of this study is to explore alternative ways of blending different fuel oils with mixing clean heater (MCR) as pre-refinery treatment for proper diesel engine operation. Two separate experiments were carried-out on two fishing / survey vessel with the main engine (MIE) and generator engine (G/E) which operated on marine gas oil (MGO). The first vessel (Mu-Gunghwa 24) was tested with five different samples of fuel mixtures, from marine diesel oil (MDO), Bunker A, MF15, MF60 and MFIOO. The second vessel (Toolees 79) was tested with only three different samples of fuel mixtures namely MF60, MFI50 and MFl80 as alternative for MGO. During both experiments, the MCH system was installed and different fuel oil samples were employed for the M/E and the G/E. Furthermore, the NO, emission and soot concentrations were monitored and verified with electronic instruments. The results confirmed the compatibility of some fuel oil types to the engines and meeting the emission standards. MDO, MF 15 and Bunker A can be used in place of MGO for the engines (M/E, GIE), but the results still needs further corrosion testing.

      • 연료의 성분에 따른 디젤엔진의 Emission 특성에 관한 연구

        Sulphur Oxides(SOx), Nitrogen Oxides(NOx), Carbon Dioxides (CO₂) and particulate matters(PM) are the main air pollutants emitted from ships. The NOx emission has been regulated by the 2000 NOx Technical Code and maybe further reinforced from its present level in 2008. Moreover, the fishing industry is equally faced by the increasing cost of fuel oils nowadays. Thus, it is a necessity for this industry to explore on some alternative fuels and, at the same time, comply with the different emission regulations. For this study, an experiment was conducted on a test vessel (fishery survey vessel) with the main engine and generator engine operated on expensive marine gas oil (MGO). During the experiment, two pre-refinery systems were installed and different fuel oil samples were employed for the MIE and the G/E. Other verified items include the NOx emission, soot concentration, mean effective pressure, and exhaust gas temperatures. The results confirmed the compatibility of some fuel oil types with the engines and meet the emission standards without having adverse effect on the mean effective pressure.
