A method for the direct current polarographic and spectrophotometric determination of metallic iron dissolved directly in organic solvent, acetylacetone, was established. The solubility of metallic iron in acetylacetone was also observed in this study. Aliquots of 100mg sample dissolved in acetylacetone to the total volume of 100ml were used to determined the amounts of iron by direct current polarography in the region of applied potential from 0.1 to 1.0 Volt vs. SCE after bubbling for 20min. with nitrogen was recorded. A reversible polarographic reduction wave was obtained and the reduction half wave potential was -0.44Volt vs. SCE Iron was determined by refering to the calibration curve. After the observation of the various effects a calibration curve was prepared for 0.025-0.4mg/ml of iron in acetylacetone. A method established for the spectrophotometric determination of iron was as follows. A sample was dissolved in acetylacetone and one part of the above solution was diluted properly and the absorbance at 443mμ was measured. Iron was determined by refering to the prepared calibration curve. In another method, after the sample was dissolved in acetylacetone with (NH_4)_2S_2O_8 and diluted by H_2O, the absorbance at 443mμ was measured at pH 6.8. Iron was determined by refering to the prepared calibration curve. The new method developed in this study is useful to the rapid analysis of iron-content without the complicated courses needed prior to determination, and has accuracies nearly comparable to those attained the conventional method by ashing, evaporating and drying of the sample.

Mangyung river is being contaminated by Jeon Ju stream, one of the major upstream of Mangyung river, which is being polluted by the sewerage of Jeon Ju city and the waste water from the plants located at Jeon Ju Industrial Area. In order to find out whether the water originated from MG river is harm, or not purpose of irrigation and home use, some indices such as PH, COD, BOD, SS, and DO were investigated at four adjacent regions of MG river. The results obtained in thisstudy are as follows ; 1. It is known that PH, COD, SS, and DO values of water of the upstream of MG river are 6.9ppm, 30.0ppm, 21.5ppm, and 9.5ppm, respectively. 2. The water originated from MG River was considered to be not harm for irrigation water, but harm for home use on the basis of indices regulated. 3. It is seemed to be desirable for the following countermeasures to be established to prevent water contaminations in these area. Firstly, it is desirable to construct sewers to seperate natural stream water from sewerage and waste water in these area. Secondly, it is desirable to construct more sewerage disposal plants and to expand the disposal facilities in these area. Thirdly, it is desirable to construct levees for Jeon Ju stream and Gosan stream to be separated.

DC polarographic behavior of lron-Acetylacetone chelate in the Acetylacetone and 0.3 M NaClO_4 supporting electrolyte was studied in detail. The electrode reaction was found to be a reversible polarographic wave corrsponding to one electron reduction and diffusion controlled, and reduction half wave potential was -0.47 volt was. A method for the direct current polarography of metallic iron dissolved dirrectly in AcAc (Acetylacetone) MIBK (Methyl lsobutyl ketone) was established. Aliquots of 100mg sample dissolved in AcAc-MIBK to the totoal volume were used to determined the amount of iron by dirrect current polarography in the region of applied potential from 0.0 to - 1 volt vs. SCE after bubbling for 20 min with nitrogen was recorded. A reversible polarographic reduction wave was obtained and the reduction half wave potential was -0.42 volt vs. SCE. lron was determined by refering to the calibration curve. The new method developed in this study is useful to the rapid anlaysis of iron-content without the complicated courses needed prior to determination, and has accuracies nearly comparable to those attained the conventional method by ashing evaporating and drying of sample.
Acetylacetone-N, N-Dimethylformamide를 金屬溶解性 試藥으로 使用하는 Cadmium의 물아닌 溶媒 A.C. Polarography

A method for the A.C. Polarography of metallic cadmium dissolved directly in organic solvent, Acelylacetone, as metal-solubility in Acetylacetone-N, N-Dimethylformamide and 0.2M NaClO_4 supporting electrolyte, was studied. A sample of 0.3M Cd was taken into a cell. After dried nitrogen gas was passed through it for 20min, the A.C. Polarogram in the region of applied potential from 0.0~1.0 volt vs. SCE was recorded and all experiments were carried out at 25.0±0.5℃ A reversible polarographic reduction wave was obtained and the reduction half wave potential was -0.46 volt vs. SCE. Cadmium was determined by refering to the calibration curve.
Salicylaldehyde-Acetonitrile 非水溶媒中에서 亞鉛의 直流 Polarograph定量法

A method for the direct current polarographic determination of metallic zinc dissolved directly in organic solvent, salicylaldehyde, as metal-solubility in salicylaldehyde acetonitrile and 0.2M LiClO_4 supporting electrolyte, was studied. The solution of zinc was taken into a cell. After dried nitrogen gas was passed through it for 20 min. the direct current polarogram in the region of applied potential from 0.0-1.0V(vs. SCE) was recorded and all experiments was carried out at 25.0 ± 0.5℃. A reversible polarographic reduction wave was obtained and the reduction half wave potential was-0.56V(vs, SCE). Zinc was determined by refering to the calibraton curve.
