Corrosion fatigue tests were carried out to clarify the influence of acid fog as environmental factor on the fatigue strength of SM55C using rotary bending fatigue tester. The fatigue strength of acid fog specimen extremely decreased about 80% compared to that of distilled water specimen. In acid fog environment, a number of cracks commenced at corrosion pit and coalesced with the adjacent cracks during they propagate, and they formed a single non-propagating circumferential crack under the endurance stress of N=5$\times$10$\^$7/ cycles. Also, the depth of the crack is smaller than that of normal fatigue crack, so the crack has a veil small aspect ratio. The reason of this peculiar crack growth characteristics is that the crack opening-closure behaviors are hindered by corrosion products on the surface crack faces, and hence it is thinkable that the strong corrosion action like anodic dissolution for crack growth in depth direction is weaker compared with surface, resulting from faint pumping action of crack during loading-shedding processes.

Rotary bending fatigue tests were carried out to investigate the influence of artificial defects on fatigue limit in annealed and austempered ductile iron. Obtained main results are as follows : (1) Artificial defect(micro hole type, dia.<0.4 mm) on specimen surface did not bring about a obvious reduction of fatigue limit in austempered ductile iron(ADI) as compared with annealed ductile iron. (2) According to the investigation of $\sqrt{area}_c$ which is the critical defect size to crack initiation at artificial defect, $\sqrt{area}_c$ of ADI is larger than that of annealed ductile iron. This shows that the situation of crack initiation at artificial defect in ADI is more difficult in comparison with annealed ductile iron. (3) One of the reasons for the low rate of crack initiation from artificial defect in ADI is that the resistance of matrix to crack initiation is higher than that of annealed ductile iron. (4) In case that the $\sqrt{area}$ of artificial defect and graphite nodule is the same, the rate of crack initiation from graphite nodule is higher than that from artificial defect. This reason is that the serious ruggedness around graphite nodule is formed by austempering treatment.

To examine the effect of acid fog on the corrosion fatigue behavior in structural steel, fatigue tests under acid fog atmosphere were carried out in comparison with distilled water. The corrosive c omponents contained in acid fog pile up the corrosion products on crack face and show a crack branching and crack tip blunting. Therefore, due to these workings crack growth rate was reduced by decreasing the effective stress range in crack tip rather than under distilled water. Also the effect of sulfuric acid, which is the main component of acid fog, and testing speed on fatigue crack growth were examined. It was found that corrosion behavior was remarkably dependent upon pH and Hz rather than components of acid fog. According as pH and testing speed decrease below a specific value, crack growth was accelerated in comparison with distilled water. This reveals that due to liquid having strong acidity and slow speed of test the crack face dissolution was promoted, so crack closure was disturbed in the process of stress descent.
적응적 비디오 스트리밍을 위한 WiMAX 환경에서의 신호품질 분석

본 논문에서는 WiMAX 의 신호세기(CINR: Carrier to Interference + Noise Ratio)의 변화와 예측 방법에 대해 연구한다. WiMAX 와 같은 무선 네트워크에서는 신호세기가 불규칙하게 변화하기 때문에 비디오 스트리밍시 에러나 지연이 발생할 수 있다. CINR 은 클라이언트 측의 가용 대역폭을 결정하는 중요한 요소이다. 하지만 기존의 RTCP(Real-time Transport Control Protocol)를 이용한 비트율 제어는 RTT(Round Trip time), PLR(Packet Loss Rate) 등의 정보를 사용하기 때문에 부정확하거나 지연이 발생될 수 있다. 이를 보완하기 위한 CINR 을 직접 비트율 제어에 사용하는 방법에 대해 연구하기에 앞서, 본 논문에서는 CINR 을 분석하고 미래의 값을 예측하는 방법에 대해 연구한다. 본 논문의 분석을 통해 CINR 의 예측을 비교적 정확하게 수행할 수 있다면 앞으로의 가용 대역폭을 비교적 정확하게 예측할 수 있고 효율적인 비디오 스트리밍 시스템을 제안할 수 있다.
MAC/PHY 정보를 이용한 실시간 멀티미디어 서비스의 QoS 제어 방식의 표준화를 위한 연구

In this paper, we study QoS(Quality of Service) control protocols and the effect using MAC/PHY parameters of client device in mobile network. We proposes the way of controling the bit-rate by estimating the channel condition of the client with measured MAC/PHY parameters which is sent from the client. With the proposed method, more accurate available bit-rate can be estimated compared to conventional protocol, RTCP(Real-time Transport Control Protocol). The accurate bit-rate estimation can decrease wasted bit-rate and transport delay. In the result of the advantages, the transported video quality can be enhanced. In this paper, we show the effects of enhancement using client’s the field data measured in WiMAX.

N/A Effect of nitriding on fatigue crack initiation and growth rate has been studied in NI-Cr-Mo steel. Specimens were nitrided at 860C for 15 hr. The fatigue limit of initrided specimens were superior to hose of annealed(860C, 15hr) specimens. Based on detailed observations of slip band and micro crack initiation, it is concluded that the excellent fatigue limit of nitrided specimens is attributed to improved slip initiation resistance by nitriding. The characteristic of fatigue crack growth rate of nitrided specimens was investigated by comparing with those fo annealed specimens. It was found that the crack growth rate was markedly decreased and the threshold stress intensity factor range was improved by nitriding. It is concluded that the excellent fatigue limit of nitrided specimens is also attributed to improved fatigue crack growth rate and threshold stress intensity factor range by nitriding.

Rotary bending fatigue tests were carried out to investigate the fatigue characteristics of high performance ductile cast iron experienced super rapid induction treatment. The influence of super rapid induction treatment on fatigue limit was experimentally examined with the special focus on the variation of surface microstructure and the fatigue crack initiation and propagation through fractography. Main results obtained are as follows. By super rapid induction treatment in FCD500, the martensite structure obtained through conventional heat treatment was confirmed on the specimen surface. The fatigue crack initiation in the hardened surface layer was restricted by the martensite structure and compressive residual stress. Thus, it could be interpreted that the initiation stress would be increased by improved structure in the surface. The fatigue crack propagation in the hardened layer was retarded by the presence of the globular shape martensite around the graphite nodule and compressive residual stress and the crack propagation behavior has zigzag pattern in the hardened surface layer.
