The results of water analysis for chemical oxygen demand (COD) in the Nam River Basin from May 1973 to April 1974 are as follows: The Nam River Basin was much contaminated and COD of water showed lower than standard quantity. Seasonal variation of COD showed that the value of COD turned out high in Sprint arid low in Autumn. It is clear that the seasonal variation of COD is influenced by the precipitation. The relationship between COD and population density increased COD value against population density. Average value of COD was 48.4~55.5O2mg/l in residental river water of four regional groups in Jin Ju, and Jang Dae Deng area are badly contaminated.

The rate constants for methanolysis of Ben3oylcyanide have been determined in Methanol -Acetone and Methanol-Acetonitrile binary mixtures. The reactivity and mechanism of methanolysis have been discussed in terms of solvent effect with varing the composition of solvent and the activities parameters, The results showed that the reaction rate of methanolysis are faster in Methanol-Acetonitrile solvent system than those of it in Methanol-Acetone solvent system. This behavior was considerably in agreement with the order of magnitude of solvent polar paramerer, Z and dielectric constand, D. From the comparison of the rate constands for the acid derivatives of benzene ring on variation of two different subitituents, benzoylcyanide has been observed faster than benzoylchloride.

In this paper, the signal loss by the Connection of optical fiber is studied. Fiber to fiber matching is meant by the word of connection here. The experimental result shows that variation of axial misalignment and degree misalignment make a large coupling loss and that variation of end separation makes a low coupling loss. It also shows that for the low coupling loss, the precise connection in both axial alignment and degree alignment is needed.

The results of water analysis for 7 regions in the Nam River Basin from May to October 1973 and 1974. The water quality of the Nam River basin is generally the first class of water, were dissolved in less than 100mg/ℓ as amount of the total ion of the main component. In comparison with river discharge, the amount of the total ion of the main component is decreased in June, July and September, because of the river discharge is increased in those periods. According to the measument of the conductivity and hardness, the better water quality is dislingushed by the following order : lower part of river, middle part of river, upper part of river. The variation of the concentration of chemical component in the basin is mainly spreaded by HCO3-, SO4-2, Cl-, Ca+2. The relationship between [K+], [Cl-] and [Na+], [Cl-] are [Na+]=0.5 [Cl-], [K+]=0.2 [Cl-] +1.6mg/ℓ.

This paper was carried out to evaluate the difference in the biological characteristics of the brown planthoppers of the insecticide resistant, susceptible strains and their hybrid progenies. The nymphal period was shortened in the susceptible strain as compared with the resistant strain and the F1. The adult emergence was lower in the resistant strain than in the susceptible strain and the F1, but the F1 was not significantly different as compared with the susceptible strain. The sex ratio was not significantly different between the susceptible and resistant strains, but low in the F1. The average body weight of the female and male adults was higher in the resistant strain than that of the susceptible strain and the F1. The preovipositional period was long in the resistant strain as compared with the susceptible strain, but the F1(S X R) was shortened and the F1(R X S) was not significantly different as compared with the susceptible strain. The average number of eggs laid by a female was not significantly different at the 1% level among the susceptible, resistant strains and the F1(S X R), but remarkably decreased in the F1(R X S). The average longevity of the adult was significantly shortened in the Fl than that of the susceptible and resistant strains, but not significantly different between the susceptible and resistant strains. The feeding activity of the female adult BPH infested for 24 hours was remarkably high in the resistant strain as compared with the susceptible strain and the F1, but the feeding activity of the male adult was variable.
벼멸구 生態型의 交雜種에 對한 水稻品種의 低抗性에 關하여 (Ⅱ)

This study was performed to evaluate the antibiosis of three different rice cultivars to the BPH biotypes 1, 2, 3 and their hybrid progenies, Nilaparvata lugens STAL. The rice cultivars tested were Chucheongbyeo, Cheongcheongbyeo and Milyang 63. The following characteristics of hybrid progenies were compared with these of their parents; Antibiosis. The results obtained were as follows; The nymphal period of the three BPH biotypes and their hybrid progenies on Chucheongbyeo were shorter than on another cultivars. The biotypes 2 and 2(♀)×3(♂) on Cheongcheongbyeo, and the biotypes 3, 3(♀)×2(♂) and 2(♀)×3(♂) on Milyag 63 were also shorter than another progenies. The adult emergence ratio of the three BPH biotypes and their hybrid progenies on Chucheongbyeo were higher than on another cultivars. The adult emergence was not only high on the biotypes 2,2(♀)×3(♂) and 3(♂)×(♀) in Cheongcheongbyeo but also on the biotypes 3, 2(♀)×3(♂) and 3(♀)×2(♂) in Milyang 63. High emergence of adult was not only shown heavy in body weight but also longevity of female adult was long. In addition, number of eggs deposited was many together with population build-up in next generation.
