As the function Ⅰ(hkl) of the X-ray intensity has a center of symmetry assuming anomalous scattering is negligible, Ⅰ(hkl) shows the symmetry of a centrosymmetric point group, i.e., a Laue group. The symmetry of each Laue group gives rise to its equivalent intensity relation, from which a scheme for identification of Laue group by means of oscillation and Weissenberg zeroth layer photographs has been obtained.

六方晶格子의 點群 3 ̄ml(H)와 6/mmm에 屬한 結晶의 a- 및 b-軸을 따라 撮影한 振動寫眞에는 零層線에 對하여 鏡面對稱이 있다. The existence of the mirror symmetry with respect to the zeroth layer line in the oscillation photographs along a- or b-axis of hexagonal lattices belonging to the point groups 3 ̄ml and 6/mmm has been shown.

32개 點群은 中心對稱(centrosymmetric)을 갖는 11가지 點群(Laue群)과 21個의 非對稱中心(noncentrosymmetric)點群으로 이루어졌다. 本 硏究에서는 21個 非對稱中心點群 各各의 等價回折面(等價逆格子點)들을 誘導하였다. The thirty two point groups consist of eleven Laue groups (centrosymmetric point groups) and twenty one noncentrosymmteric point groups. In this paper, the reciprocal lattice points equivalent under the operations of 21 noncentrosymmetric point groups are derived.

If electron density ρ(xyz) in a single crystal is known, structure factor F(hkl) can be calculated and, on the contrary, electron density map can be drawn if the structure factor including its phase is known. Therefore the functions ρ(xyz) and F(hkl) are said to be Fourier transforms of each other.

한 結晶의 構造는 唯一單位의 X-線 回折强度資料로부터 決定될 수 있다. Miller指數(hkl)의 函數인 回折强度Ⅰ(hkl)는 異常 散亂(anomalous scattering)이 無視될때 對稱中心點群 卽 Laue群의 對稱性을 나타낸다. 이 論文에서는 모든 結晶系에 對한 回折强度의 唯一單位를 Laue群들의 對稱性으로부터 誘導하여 놓았다. Crystal structures can be determined from the unique data of X-ray intensity. As the X-ray intensity Ⅰ(hkl), which is a function of diffraction plane (hkl), has a center of symmetry assuming anomalous scattering is negligible Ⅰ(hkl) shows the symmetry of a centrosymmetric point group, i.e., a Laue group. In this paper the unique data of the intensity for all crystal systems have been derived from the symmetries of Laue groups.

Single crystals of strontium barium metaborate, Sr/sub 1.36/Ba/sub 1.64/(B₃O/sub 6/)₂, were grown for the first time by the high-temperature-solution-growth technique, and a detailed structure analysis was carried out with the space group R3c. The metaborate (B₃O/sub 6/)/sup 3-/ anion planar groups in the title compound form infinite layers parallel to (001) plane, and Sr and Ba atoms are alternatively placed between the layers and are octahedrally coordinated by six O(2) atoms in the neighbouring anion rings.
