메타버스를 통한 디지털 스토리텔링에 대한 기독교교육적 연구

코로나 팬데믹으로 인해 사회 각 영역에서 가속화되고 있는 디지털 전환은 기독교교육의 실천에도 지대한 영향을 미치고 있다. 디지털 전환을 대표적으로 보여주는 것은 메타버스(metaverse)로 명명되는 디지털 세계의 출현이다. 본 연구는 메타버스를 기독교교육이 실천될 수 있는 신앙교육의 확장된 공간으로 이해하고, 구체적인 방법으로서 디지털 스토리텔링 접근을 탐색한다. 디지털 스토리텔링이 메타버스 공간에서 실천될 때 참여자들은 자신의 이야기를 성찰하며 그것을 디지털화된 시청각 재료로 함께 하나의 디지털 스토리를 구성하고 공유함으로써 이야기의 의미를 발견하고 변화를 경험하도록 안내하는 실천의 가능성을 갖는다. 이러한 디지털 스토리텔링은 상호작용성, 주도성, 시청각성, 사회성, 개방성의 특징을 지니며, 이것이 기독교교육 방법으로 활용되기 위해서는 재개념화가 요청된다. 이를 위해 이야기 연결하기를 통한 자유와 소명의 발견과 열정적인 경청의 공동체 형성을 강조했던 앤 윔벌리의 방법론을 고찰한다. 또한, 디지털 스토리텔링을 신앙형성의 한 방식으로 이해하며 권위와 진정성 있는 신앙, 그리고 주도성을 중심으로 디지털 공간을 기독교교육의 장으로 해석한 메리 헤스의 접근을 고찰한다. 이를 통해 메타버스에서 기독교교육이 변화와 소명 형성을 위한 기독교교육의 장으로서, 상호적 디지털 공간에서 하나님의 은총에 대한 인간의 적극적 응답이 실천되는 공간이 되어야 함을 주장한다. 이는 참여자가 메타버스라는 디지털 공간 속에서 하나님의 주도성에 응답하며 놀이와 만들기의 형태로 실천되는 체현적, 관계적인 교육에 참여하는 것을 의미한다. 본 연구는 메타버스를 통한 디지털 스토리텔링이 신앙형성의 한 과정이 되기 위해서 확장된 세계 속 하나님 나라의 이야기에 참여하는 참여자의 이야기로 연결하고, 환대와 경청을 통해 상호적인 공간을 지향하며, 몰입적 참여와 전인적 성찰을 증진하는 실천이 되어야 할 것을 주장한다.

Neurogenic muscle hypertrophy: a case report

Muscular hypertrophy is caused mainly due to myopathic disorder. But, it is also rarely produced by neurogenic disorder. A 74-year-old woman complained of right calf pain with hypertrophy for several years. Recent lumbar spine magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) showed central and lateral canal narrowing at the L4-L5 intervertebral space. Lower extremity MRI revealed fatty change of right medial head of the gastrocnemius and soleus, causing right calf hypertrophy. Electrodiagnostic examinations including electromyography and nerve conduction velocity testing demonstrated 5th lumbar and 1st sacral polyradiculopathy. Integrating all the results, the diagnosis was neurogenic muscle hypertrophy. Neurogenic muscle hypertrophy is very rare, but we recommend that clinicians consider this problem when a patient complains of lower limb hypertrophy and pain. (Korean J Pain 2016; 29: 270-3)

There have been controversies regarding the taxonomy of Prorocentrum donghaiense, however Zhang et al. (2016) recently developed a probe with a quantitative real-time PCR (qPCR) assay that targets the D1-D2 region of the large subunit (LSU) rDNA of this species. We used this qPCR assay to determine the spatial distribution and abundance of P. donghaiense along the East China Sea (ECS) and Korean coastal area. During 15–22 May 2017, surface water samples were collected to extract genomic DNA and subsequent qPCR at 29 stations of the ECS and Korean coastal area, and the water temperature and salinity were also recorded at the time of sampling. The morphological features of P. donghaiense collected from the study area were identical to those of P. shikokuense and P. donghaiense reported in previous studies. Higher cell densities were recorded at water temperatures of 14.8 to 19.3°C and at salinity of 32.3 to 34.0, indicating that P. donghaiense can grow in a broad range of water temperatures. In addition, relatively higher cell densities were generally observed within stations that are affected by the Changjiang Diluted Water and Taiwan Warm Current flows, and low cell densities were prominent near the Japanese coast that is affected by the Tsushima Current flow and in the southwest coast of Korea. These results suggest that P. donghaiense occurs throughout a broad area of the ECS and Korean coastal area, and the current flows in the ECS may stimulate P. donghaiense blooms.

Poets use symbols because they have realized that our common language is inaccurate in describing the inner reality. The symbols and the myth are used to expand our minds and give us a deeper meaning in life and belief. In A Vision, Yeats presents an elaborate symbolic pattern which he applies not only to history, but also to individual lives. His basic symbol is a pair of interpenetrating whirling cones or 'gyres' signifying the world of change that move within a sphere emblematic eternity. The gyres, with their points at the bases of each other, represent the oppositions and reciprocity of human existence; one expands as the other diminishes. The two gyres stand for two contrasting forces―the primary or objective and the antithetical or subjective. There is a state of perpetual conflict between the gyres. The gyres, according to Yeats, are 'living each other's death, dying each other's life. The sphere is the symbol of perfection, Unity of Being. These symbols of sphere and gyres are equivalent to another set of symbols, in which a circle or 'Great Wheel' is marked off into 'phase' that correspond to the waxing and waning of the moon. There are twenty eight such phases, with varying degrees of moonlight and darkness. They can be applied to human personality and to the incarnations of the soul. Whether expressed in terms of gyres or phases of the moon, Yeats's opposing principles are called the 'primary' and the 'antithetical'. The primary denoted by the moon's degree of darkness is a principle of relative passivity, of objectivity, rationalism, materialism, external morality, democratic equalitarianism, while the antithetical denoted by the moon's degree of darkness is a principle of activity, of subjectiveness, imagination, idealism, personal will, aristocratic distinction. The result of the mixture of these principles at any one phase must be measured in terms of 'Four Faculties', which usually are at odds with one another. 'Will' is the faculty that determines the phase of the individual. In other words, it is his basic character, what distinguishes him from others. 'Mask' is the image of what we dream of becoming or that other self to which we give our reverence. 'Will' and 'Mask' are the 'Is' and the 'Ought', while 'Creative Mind' is imaginative power and 'Body of Fate', the intellect and the environment. 'Will' and 'Mask' are contraries, as are 'Cerative Mind' and 'Body of Fate'. 'Will' and 'Creative Mind' are part of the conscious mind, whereas 'Mask' and 'Body of Fate' are part of the subconscious mind. Four Faculties influence one another. In the diagram of 'The Great Wheel', if one's 'Will' is at phase 17, his 'Mask' is at phase 3, his 'Creative Mind' at 13 and his 'Body of Fate' at 27. Every man goes through all the phases with the exception of the first and fifteenth, which do not appear in human life. Moreover every man belongs in general to a phase of human nature.
