申澄雨 상명대학교 논문집 1987 상명대학교논문집 Vol.20 No.-

This study is intended to understand the fact about the learning activities of Sangmyung Women's University students, and provide teaching staff with information on how we can encourage their learning efficiency. For this study, questionaires were responded from 905 students and the result was analyzed according to their faculty and classes. The inter-relationship between some questionaire items was also considered. The result of the study is as follows: 1. A majority of students showed good predisposition to learn. Many students had explicit objectives for their major courses, whereas not in the case of their courses in liberal arts. Students from Faculty of Arts & Physical Education are generally well aware of the objectives they should achieve for their major courses. 2. Students spent an average of 1.66 hours a day on their individual study out of class. The less time they spent studying, the less predisposition to learn in the subjects and the lower recognition of their learning objectives. 3. Most of students used library for homework and preparation for their exams. Compared with those from other colleges, fewer students use library for review and preparation for their classes and employment. 4. Those who have explicit objectives and good learning motivation for their study are somewhat more satisfied with their college life. Seventy percent of students tend to be satisfied with their college life. 5. Thirty percent of students intended to continue graduate level of study after graduation, while 60 % want to find a job. In detail, about 70% of students from Faculty of Education and Humanities & Social Sciences, want to find a job, and about 50% of Faculty of Arts & Physical Education students want to continue their graduate level of study. 6. The major factors in improving the predisposition to learn is the contents of subject matter and the teaching method. Students from Faculty of Education and from the Faculty of Natural Sciences are more active in their study when the contents are interesting enough. 7. One fourth of the students think that the lecture method is more useful for enhancing their learning efficiency. Most of them do not study more than an hour a day, and they scarcely manage to preview or review for their classes. 8. One sixth of the students want their classes to be carried on by means of their own reporting or oral presentation, and one tenth prefer the question and answer method. These students belong to those who spend somewhat more time on their out of class study. The former method is preferred by students from Faculty of Education and the latter is preferred by those from Faculty of Natural Sciences. Based on this investigation, a pertinent teaching method can be devised and suggested as follows : 1. Students should be induced to establish their learning objectives explicitly, because many students study ignorantly subjects of courses in liberal arts. 2. Professors should have the students in the class take interest in the subject matter and recognize that the subject matter is beneficial to themselves for their academic achievement. 3. It is efficient to use a lecture method for the students who have not prepared for their classes and reviewed, or have reviewed only, and to use a report writing or oral presentation method, and a seminar method for those who have prepared more earnestly.

Vol.2 No.-

Written for the purpose of offering some materials to improve the Educational settlement on the view of value for the future high school students, this thesis observes mainlythe reality of the view of value possessed by the high school students in 1970's. For this purpose, 21 theses written on this theme in 1970's were taken for reference, which seems to be the research style that has never been employed in this field. As a result of analysing the above - mentioned theses the followings could be learned : Firstly, "the purpose of research'' was mostly to search for the method of teaching the view of value and the method of improving it. As for "the method of research, they largely employed questionnaire, which was mainly composed of choise type and, in some cases, rating method. In managing the data, percentile was used. And Seoul was the most preferred research area''. In this thesis, the contents of the above-mentioned theses under same or similar item was synthesized and generalized. The result is as follows. 1. View of Nation More than half of high school students were found to love and be proud of their fatherland and nation. Nevertheless, more than half of them answered that they could not sacrifice for national interest when it was incompatible with their individual interest. 2. View of Politics As for political system, democratic system was absolutely favored. Especially, girl student had stronger democratic tendency. 3. View of Economics More than two thirds of them had the tendency of abusing money, while lots of students answered that, in case of getting a huge amount of money by chance, they would save it or contribute for social-welfare service. 4. View of Life Sincerity and justice was most favored as the basic attitude of life, and two thirds of them replied that they would make efforts in case of falling in difficulties. Most of them said that they felt greatest happiness when they led daily lives peacefully and affluently. 5. View of Study About 80% of students regarded study as a means to self-completion. A s for the purpose of college education, they emphasize that it is not to be behind others in this competitive society and to enhance knowledge and intelligence. 6. View of Job General tendency was that boy students hope to be specialists such as diplomat, lawyer and businessman. They preferred the posts with friendly atmosphere and many things to learn rather than those with better salary. 7. View of Morality Most of them accepted the necessity of sacrificial, rite or the other traditional ceremonies, but more than half of them pointed out that their ceremonial procedures should be revised into up-to-date form. As to the rule "The younger should give precedence to the elder", half of them agreed while the other half opposed. Besides, making success in life was generally regarded as the very way to filial piety. 8. View of religion Most students felt the necessity of religion, while few of them believe in it practically. 9. View of Friendship As for the precondition of friend similar character was regarded as to be most important. 10. View of Male vs. Female They wanted cultivated and sincere person as their life partner. Boy-students wanted the girls who could study together, and girl-students want the boys who could share affluent communication with them. So far, we observed the views of high school students in ten categories. We can see, through that analysis, the rise of liberalism and individualism affected by western culture. The value system of high school students in 1970's was mostly imitated from western culture, and thus was in confusion and contradictions. The national consequence is that a new and expectful value System is required to be established for the high school students in 1980's. For this, doubled interest and efforts by this society and educational circle is demanded.

Lastly, we tried to seek the best teaching method, that is, the optimization of individualized teaching, to improve the learning activities of the individual pupil. The plan of the optimization has been made up in accordance with ATI(Aptitude Treatment Interaction) and on the present situation of the primary and secondary school in Korea. Some of what we have got from this study are the types of teaching behavior. Others are data for the study of teaching behavior. It is desirable to develop as many types of interaction as possible between the teacher and the pupil, between the subject matter and the learner, and also as many types of traits of the pupils as possible, related to their learning achievement. • 學生들의 學校生活에 대한 態度와 心理的 安定 追究에 관한 調査硏究

        方貞福,申澄雨 상명대학교 교육문제연구소 1980 敎育硏究 Vol.2 No.-

Abstract This thesis is written to observe the attitude of students toward campus life and their pursuit for psychological stability. For that purpose, 1246 students adoped by stratified voluntary sampling method from four middle schools and six high schools in Seoul were used for statistical questionnaire. , The result of this research can be categorized into four. The first is "the matter of concern" of the students. They, no matter boys or girls, had the greatest interest in their future design and secondarily in their studies. The second is "The control of mental stability and fatigue". In general, middle school students were psychologically more stabilized than high school students and girl-students than boy-students. About three forths among middle school students and above a half among high school students were proved to be stable. The most prominent reasons of instability were the matter of studies and that of family affairs. The former was remarkable among girl-students, and the latter among boy-students. As for the means to overcome fatigue, sports were employed by boys, and readings by girls. In ordinary days the degree of student's mental fatigue and the means to overcome it generally tended to be similar however boy students felt much more fatigue and they were apt to choose sleep or sports. And as they grow older, they pursued mental restoration from fatigue rather than physical one. The third is "the expectation about school, education" and "the degree of satisfaction over campus life". Middle school students appeared to be more satisfactory (more than four fifths) over campus life than high school students, As they grew older, dissatisfaction over campus life also grew, the reason of which was the depression in studies and the deterioration of human relation with classmate. They replied that they attend school to build up themselves as desirable person (mostly for girls) and to acquire good knowledge (mostly for boys), Besides, they expected for the education to be able to give them more adaptivility to social life. The last is "self-consciousness of students". Girl-students than boy-students, and high school students than middle school students appeared to be more sincere in completing their duties. They felt pricks of conscience when they told a lie or when they were insincere in their task. Besides, about half of them replied that they had confidence against temptation and hardships.
