李 光 洙 ( Lee Kwang Su ) 현대중국학회 2021 현대중국연구 Vol.23 No.1
This article started with a sense of problem that how the sharply opposing bilateral relationship will affect the changing amid the Corona Pandemic’s influence on international politics. Under the goal of achieving reunification, China is curbing Taiwan’s independence and implementing Taiwan policy to promote reunification. Taiwan, on the other hand, aims to increase profits through economic trade with China, but suspects that China’s policy is a unified front strategy to absorb and unify Taiwan. The Corona Pandemic makes the U.S.-China relations more conflict-oriented. The United States effectively recognizes Taiwan as an international agent to keep China in check. Taiwan is taking advantage of this to move toward de-Chinaization, while China routinely pushes for diplomatic pressure and military threats, keeping Taiwan in check. In the face of the Corona 19 pandemic, the two sides will be interdependent and will repeat checks and inducements to each other over future relationships.
