This paper presents a method for constructing DEM(Digital Elevation Model) from the image data which are acquired from a commerical map using an image scanner. The processes of data acquisition, thinning, mark elimination, broken line linking and elevation interpolation have been performed. As a result, we obtained altitude information better than manual interpolation with a commercial map.

This paper describes a method for mesh generation of arbitrary polyhedra. This method is based on Delanuay's triangulation whose dual is well-known Vornoi's diagram. Firstly, this algorithm divides analysis model into a finite set of elements using minimum input data for depicting its boundary shape. And interior node placement can being using a proposed strategy . Finally, the connectivities are fixed and the nodes are repositioned to produce elements with somewhat improved shapes. The technique we use is called Laplacian smoothing.

A typical map image is consisted of number, symbols and lines that represent contour lines, geographical bounaries, roads, rivers and etc. This paper describe the two components: separation and recognition. The separation algorithm is based on hierachical method. The separation of proposed method is better than method using only a size of connected component. This proposed method will be used in GIS input system efficiently.

잡음제거를 위한 Preprocessing과 BTC를 이용한 화상압축에 관한 연구

There are various methods of the image coding in the digital processing technique. An effective coding has a high compression ratio and subjective quality. In order to get a high compression ratio, especially simplicity and real time processing, BTC(block truncation coding) has been used. This method uses the information(sample mean, sample standard deviation and bit-plane) of the splitted subblock. This paper describes a preprocessing technique, conventional BTC, AMBTC (absolute moment block truncation coding) and compares the BTC with the AMBTC.

A thinning and vectorization components in a document interpretation system have been presented. This paper describes the two components: thinning and vectorization, at the front end of Geographic Information System. The raster database associated with a map is very large and required a large of processing times. But the vector data is efficient. In this paper the skeleton is vectorized by tracking thinned image and saved DXF vector format.

In Geographic Mapping system, Facility administration is going to be computerized for secure and efficient maintenance, and it is needed to input many already existing geographic map into computer system. Then it is required to extract symbols and recognition them. Thus we developed an automatic symbol extraction and recognition system for geographic map. which enabled to input such map, at recognition rate over 85%.

웹상에서 하드웨어를 제어하기 위한 연구로 기존의 스크립트 언어만으로 제어하였던 방범 대신에 자바를 이용하여 동적인 원격제어를 할 수 있는 시스템을 설계하였다. 이를 위해 서버측에 인터페이스와 LED, LCD, Switch 등을 연결하고 동작 상태를 클라이언트에서 자바애플릿으로 원격 제어할 수 있음을 보였다.
