World order in the Northeast Asia had been developed by China before European influence came to the Asia. Chinese view of world orders was extensively described by their traditional thought(中華思想). Chinese traditional thought was a kind of cultural feeling of superiority, internationally hierachical order, and mainly kept up by tributary system(朝貢制度). Chosen-Ch'ings relations appear externally tributary system which was based on Chinese traditional thought(中華思想) but really was maintained absolute superiority of Ch'ings military forces, and was grounded on non-intervention policy under some preconditions. The preconditions was (1) maintaining ceremonial and conventional tributary system, (2) Chosen maintaining friendly relations with China, and (3) there being no the provocative state which was willing to challenge against Chiness world order But these preconditions was nullified befor and after the Treaty of 1876(江華島條約) by (1) Japan emerging to modern state for the first in Asia (2) Russia advancing into Far East Asia, and (3) Chosen changing into the attitude to Ch'ing. Consequently, because of nullifing these preconditions, Ch'ings policy to Chosen changed from the non-intervention policy to the positive intervention policy.

This thesis is focused on an investigation of how the major ideas of korean early Realist School (開化派) were formed in the mid-nineteenth century and what their national consciousness was 1) As a countermeasure against the capitalistic world, the korean early Realist School inherited the Practical Thought (實學思想) which had been formed from the late 17th century to the early 19th contury, and Buddhism which had been passed down from the 4the century. 2) The Realist School adopted the national consciousness provoking policies of national independence and integration in order to get over the impending domestic and foreign crisis. Even though these ideas were far from a perfect democracy, they can be regarded as a progressive and enlightened stream of thought. It can be concluded that our generation will have to make a reasonable choice among those ideas for the sake of getting an answer to the conflicts between our independent modernization and the outside pressures.
