High resolution transmission electron microscopy (HRTEM) has been used to investigate the detailed microstructures of the antiphase boundaries (APBs) of 1:2 B-site ordered domains in fully ordered Ba(Mg_(1/3)Ta_(2/3))O₃ ceramic compound. The orientation relationship (102)_I // (012)_(II) [010]_I // [I00]_(II) was found between two domains. The ledged coherent interface has formed with (101) plane as an atomic habit plane. The growth ledge which possesses the kinks on ledge structure on the riser has the height of 1.22 nm which is equivalent to three (101) planes. The coalescence of the growth ledges and the generation of these ledges at the structurally faulted region had been found experimentally. New interface model which was coherent and had a growth ledge was constructed based on the experimentally obtained diffraction pattern and HRTEM images and thereafter the lateral growth by the ledge mechanism in the coarsening of ordered phase boundaries was proposed.

Background: An independent medical examination (IME) is a critical process for awarding reparation for injury. However, conducting an IME in pain medicine is very difficult, not only because pain is a subjective symptom, but also because there are no proper objective methods to demonstrate it. This study was conducted to compare IME reports and the court decisions on the disability status of the patients. Methods: We analyzed 79 IME reports and 25 corresponding court decisions on the disability status of patients. The diagnoses, causal relationships between the patients' status and the trauma, McBride's degree of disability, the American Medical Association's impairment ratings, the estimated annual cost for future treatment, and the necessity of care-giving were compared and analyzed. Results: The diagnoses in the 79 cases were complex regional pain syndrome (CRPS) type I (58 cases), CRPS type II (7 cases), peripheral neuropathy (5 cases), myofascial pain syndrome (4 cases), herniated intervertebral disc (2 cases), and fibromyalgia (1 case). The types of accidents were road traffic accidents (50 cases), military injuries (14 cases), industrial accidents (11 cases), and others (4 cases). The IME reports and the court decisions stated considerably different McBride's degrees of disability (P = 0.014). However, there was no significant difference in the estimated cost for future treatment between the IME reports and the court decisions (P = 0.912). Conclusions: IME reports should be accurate, fair, and based on objective findings. Feedback on IMEs from the court decisions is helpful for reference use.

In accordance with the trend for mobile terminals to be high intensity and to have thinner layers,low temperature co-fired ceramics (LTCC) materials with outstanding dielectric loss characteristicsand diverse dielectric constants have been in demand, and the need for high-strength materials thatcan withstand external shocks has increased. Ca[(Li1/3Nb2/3)1−xTix]O3−δ (CLNT) has a qualityfactor over 14,000 and τf ≤ 10 when the dielectric constant is 41 ∼ 46, but its sintering temperatureis high at 1150◦C. Therefore, it cannot be used as a LTCC component. This study aimed to lowerthe sintering temperature to 900◦C by adding a low-melting-point glass such as B2O3·SiO2·BaOand B2O3·SiO2·Al2O3. As the glass content in CLNT was increased from 10 wt% to 20 wt%, thedensity and the Q·f0 property decreased, and the dielectric constant rose. When B2O3·SiO2·BaOwas added to CLNT at 15 wt%, the dielectric constant was found to be 27, the Q·f0 property to be3470, and the τf to be −18 ppm/◦C. When B2O3·SiO2·Al2O3 was added to CLNT at 10 wt%, thedielectric constant was 20, the Q·f0 property was 3990, and the τf was −15 ppm/◦C. As such, inboth cases, excellent dielectric properties were observed.
