Thermodynamic simulation and structural optimization of the collimator in the drift duct of EAST-NBI

        Tang Ning,Hu Chun-dong,Xie Yuan-lai,Wei Jiang-long,Cui Zhi-Wei,Xie Jun-Wei,Pan Zhuo,Jiang Yao 한국원자력학회 2022 Nuclear Engineering and Technology Vol.54 No.11

The collimator is one of the high-heat-flux components used to avoid a series of vacuum and thermal problems. In this paper, the heat load distribution throughout the collimator is first calculated through experimental data, and a transient thermodynamic simulation analysis of the original model is carried out. The error of the pipe outlet temperature between the simulated and experimental values is 1.632%, indicating that the simulation result is reliable. Second, the model is optimized to improve the heat transfer performance of the collimator, including the contact mode between the pipe and the flange, the pipe material and the addition of a twisted tape in the pipe. It is concluded that the convective heat transfer coefficient of the optimized model is increased by 15.381% and the maximum wall temperature is reduced by 16.415%; thus, the heat transfer capacity of the optimized model is effectively improved. Third, to adapt the long-pulse steady-state operation of the experimental advanced superconducting Tokamak (EAST) in the future, steady-state simulations of the original and optimized collimators are carried out. The results show that the maximum temperature of the optimized model is reduced by 37.864% compared with that of the original model. The optimized model was changed as little as possible to obtain a better heat exchange structure on the premise of ensuring the consumption of the same mass flow rate of water so that the collimator can adapt to operational environments with higher heat fluxes and long pulses in the future. These research methods also provide a reference for the future design of components under high-energy and long-pulse operational conditions

Geochronological and geochemical constraints on the ore-related granites in Huanggang deposit, Southern Great Xing’an Range, NE China and its tectonic significance

        Wei Mei,Xinbiao Lü,Zhi Liu,Rankun Tang,Zhilong Ai,Xiangdong Wang,Mamady Cisse 한국지질과학협의회 2015 Geosciences Journal Vol.19 No.1

Huanggang skarn Fe-Sn deposit is located in themain ridge Sn-polymetallic metallogenic sub-belt of the SouthernGreat Xing’an Range. A combination of zircon U-Pb age, geochemistryand Hf isotopic composition are reported for the orerelatedgranite (K-feldspar granite) of the Huanggang deposit toconstrain its petrogenesis and tectonic setting. LA-ICP-MS U-PbZircon dating results indicate that the K-feldspar granite wasintruded at 145.3 ± 1.6Ma. The K-feldspar granites belong to high-K calc-alkaline and shoshonite series, mainly peraluminous. Theserocks have a negative slope from La to Lu with strongly negativeEu anomalies, they demonstrate negative Ba, Sr P, Ti and Nbspikes and positive Th, U, Nd spikes on the normalized incompatibleelement diagrams. The regional geological setting togetherwith the geochemistry of the K-feldspar granite indicates that it isformed in a post-orogenic setting. The zircon Hf isotopic compositions(εHf(t): +5.2 to +6.6, 176Hf/177Hf: 0.282837‒0.282876) indicateboth juvenile crust sources that originated from depleted mantleand some ancient continental crust sources contributed to its origin, and there is a significant addition of juvenile crust under theSouthern Great Xing’an Range during the time from Paleo-Neoproterozoicto Phanerozoic.

      • Anisotropic Patterns of Liver Cancer Prevalence in Guangxi in Southwest China: Is Local Climate a Contributing Factor?

        Deng, Wei,Long, Long,Tang, Xian-Yan,Huang, Tian-Ren,Li, Ji-Lin,Rong, Min-Hua,Li, Ke-Zhi,Liu, Hai-Zhou Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2015 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.16 No.8

Geographic information system (GIS) technology has useful applications for epidemiology, enabling the detection of spatial patterns of disease dispersion and locating geographic areas at increased risk. In this study, we applied GIS technology to characterize the spatial pattern of mortality due to liver cancer in the autonomous region of Guangxi Zhuang in southwest China. A database with liver cancer mortality data for 1971-1973, 1990-1992, and 2004-2005, including geographic locations and climate conditions, was constructed, and the appropriate associations were investigated. It was found that the regions with the highest mortality rates were central Guangxi with Guigang City at the center, and southwest Guangxi centered in Fusui County. Regions with the lowest mortality rates were eastern Guangxi with Pingnan County at the center, and northern Guangxi centered in Sanjiang and Rongshui counties. Regarding climate conditions, in the 1990s the mortality rate of liver cancer positively correlated with average temperature and average minimum temperature, and negatively correlated with average precipitation. In 2004 through 2005, mortality due to liver cancer positively correlated with the average minimum temperature. Regions of high mortality had lower average humidity and higher average barometric pressure than did regions of low mortality. Our results provide information to benefit development of a regional liver cancer prevention program in Guangxi, and provide important information and a reference for exploring causes of liver cancer.

Graphite Furnace Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometric Determination of Trace Horseradish Peroxidase Using Nanosilver

        Jiang, Zhi-Liang,Tang, Ya-Fang,Wei, Lin,Liang, Ai-Hui Korean Chemical Society 2011 Bulletin of the Korean Chemical Society Vol.32 No.8

In pH 4.2 HAc-NaAc buffer solution, horseradish peroxidase (HRP) catalyzed $H_2O_2$ oxidation of nanosilver to form $Ag^+$. After centrifugation, $Ag^+$ in the supernatant can be measured by graphite furnace atomic absorption spectrophotometry (GFAAS) at the silver absorption wavelength of 328.1 nm. When HRP concentration increased, the $Ag^+$ concentration in the supernatant increased, and the absorption value enhanced. The HRP concentration in the range of 0.84-50 $ng{\cdot}mL^{-1}$ was linear to the enhanced absorption value (${\Delta}A$), with a regression equation of ${\Delta}A$=0.012C+0.11, correlation coefficient of 0.9988, and detection limit of 0.41 $ng{\cdot}mL^{-1}$ HRP. The proposed GFAAS method was used to detect HRP in waste water samples, with satisfactory results.

      • Efficacy and Safety of Sorafenib for Advanced Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer: a Meta-analysis of Randomized Controlled Trials

        Wang, Wei-Lan,Tang, Zhi-Hui,Xie, Ting-Ting,Xiao, Bing-Kun,Zhang, Xin-Yu,Guo, Dai-Hong,Wang, Dong-Xiao,Pei, Fei,Si, Hai-Yan,Zhu, Man Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.14

Background: Many clinical trials have been conducted to evaluate sorafenib for the treatment of advanced NSCLC, but the results for efficacy have been inconsistent. The aim of this study was to evaluate the efficacy and safety of sorafenib in patients with advanced NSCLC in more detail by meta-analysis. Methods: This meta-analysis of randomized controlled trials (RCTs) was performed after searching PubMed, EMBASE, ASCO Abstracts, ESMO Abstracts, and the proceedings of major conferences for relevant clinical trials. Two reviewers independently assessed the quality of the trials. Outcomes analysis were disease control rate (DCR), progression- free survival (PFS), overall survival (OS) with 95% confidence intervals (CI) and major toxicity. Subgroup analysis was conducted according to sorafenib monotherapy, in combination with chemotherapy or EGFR-TKI to investigate the preferred therapy strategy. Results: Results reported from 6 RCTs involving 2, 748 patients were included in the analysis. Compared to sorafenib-free group, SBT was not associated with higher DCR (RR 1.31 (0.96- 1.79), p=0.09), PFS (HR 0.82 (0.66-1.02), p=0.07) and OS (HR 1.01 (0.92-1.12), p=0.77). In terms of subgroup results, sorafenib monotherapy was associated with significant superior DCR and longer PFS, but failed to show advantage with regard to OS. Grade 3 or greater sorafenib-related adverse events included fatigue, hypertension, diarrhea, oral mucositis, rash and HFSR. Conclusions: SBT was revealed to yield no improvement in DCR, PFS and OS. However, sorafenib as monotherapy showed some activity in NSCLC. Further evaluation may be considered in subsets of patients who may benefit from this treatment. Sorafenib combined inhibition therapy should be limited unless the choice of platinum-doublet regimen, administration sequence or identification of predictive biomarkers are considered to receive better anti-tumor activity and prevention of resistance mechanisms.

Targeting treatment of bladder cancer using PTK7 aptamer-gemcitabine conjugate

        Xiang Wei,Peng Yongbo,Zeng Hongliang,Yu Chunping,Zhang Qun,Liu Biao,Liu Jiahao,Hu Xing,Wei Wensu,Deng Minhua,Wang Ning,Liu Xuewen,Xie Jianfei,Hou Weibin,Tang Jin,Long Zhi,Wang Long,Liu Jianye 한국생체재료학회 2023 생체재료학회지 Vol.27 No.00

Gemcitabine (GEM) is one of the first-line chemotherapies for bladder cancer (BC), but the GEMs cannot recognize cancer cells and have a low long-term response rate and high recurrence rate with side effects during the treatment of BC. Targeted transport of GEMs to mediate cytotoxicity to tumor and avoid the systemic side effects remains a challenge in the treatment of BC.Based on a firstly confirmed biomarker in BC-protein tyrosine kinase 7 (PTK7), which is overexpressed on the cell membrane surface in BC cells, a novel targeting system protein tyrosine kinase 7 aptamer-Gemcitabine conjugate (PTK7-GEMs) was designed and synthesized using a specific PTK7 aptamer and GEM through auto-synthesis method to deliver GEM against BC. In addition, the antitumor effects and safety evaluation of PTK7-GEMs was assessed with a series of in vitro and in vivo assays.PTK7-GEMs can specifically bind and enter to BC cells dependent on the expression levels of PTK7 and via the macropinocytosis pathway, which induced cytotoxicity after GEM cleavage from PTK7-GEMs respond to the intracellular phosphatase. Moreover, PTK7-GEMs showed stronger anti-tumor efficacy and excellent biosafety in three types of tumor xenograft mice models. These results demonstrated that PTK7-GEMs is a successful targeted aptamer-drug conjugates strategy (APDCs) to treat BC, which will provide new directions for the precision treatment of BC in the field of biomarker-oriented tumor targeted therapy.

      • Prognostic Significance of C-reactive Protein in Urological Cancers: a Systematic Review and Meta-analysis

        Dai, Jin,Tang, Kun,Xiao, Wei,Yu, Gan,Zeng, Jin,Li, Wei,Zhang, Ya-Qun,Xu, Hua,Chen, Zhi-Qiang,Ye, Zhang-Qun Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2014 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.15 No.8

Background: C-reactive protein (CRP), considered as a prototypical inflammatory cytokine, has been proposed to be involved in tumor progression through inflammation. Recent studies have indicated CRP as a progostic predictor for urological cancers, but the results remain controversial. Materials and Methods: A systematic search of Medline, Scopus and the Cochrane Library was performed to identify eligible studies published between Jan 1, 2001 and Sep 1, 2013. Outcomes of interest were collected from studies comparing overall survival (OS), cancer-specific survival (CSS) and relapse-free survival (RFS) in patients with elevated CRP levels and those having lower levels. Studies were pooled, and combined hazard ratio (HR) of CRP with its 95% confidence interval (CI) for survival were used for the effect size estimate. Results: A total of 43 studies (7,490 patients) were included in this meta-analysis (25 for RCC, 10 for UC, and 8 for PC). Our pooled results showed that elevated serum CRP level was associated with poor OS (HR: 1.26, 95%CI: 1.22-1.30) and RFS (HR: 1.38 95%CI: 1.29-1.47), respectively. For CSS the pooled HR (HR: 1.33, 95%CI: 1.28-1.39) for higher CRP expression could strongly predict poorer survival in urological cancers. Simultaneously, elevated serum CRP was also significantly associated with poor prognosis in the subgroup analysis. Conclusions: Our pooled results demonstrate that a high serum level of CRP as an inflammation biomarker denotes a poor prognosis of patients with urological cancers. Further large prospective studies should be performed to confirm whether CRP, as a biomarker of inflammation, has a prognostic role in urological cancer progression.

The facile preparation of Cu–Zn–Al oxide composite catalysts with high stability and performance for the production of dimethyl ether using modified aluminum alkoxide

        Peng Wanga,Wei Huang,GuangZhi Zhang,Zhi-hua Gao,Yu Tang,Kai Sun,XiaoYu Zhang 한국공업화학회 2015 Journal of Industrial and Engineering Chemistry Vol.26 No.-

Modified aluminum alkoxide prepared by alcoholysis was used as an aluminum source in the complete liquid-phase technology for the preparation of slurry catalysts. The use of the modified aluminum alkoxide afforded control over the rate of the hydrolysis/condensation reactions during the preparation of the catalyst precursors, thereby generating catalysts with a fine nano-structured active metal and metallic oxide particles. Four types of Cu–Zn–Al (molar ratio is 2:1:4) catalysts were prepared using different procedures. These catalysts were tested for CO hydrogenation at 553 K, 4.0 MPa and H2/ CO = 1.0 in a kettle with a mechanical agitator. The results indicated that the activity of the catalysts was greatly dependent on the rate of the hydrolysis/condensation reactions, and the catalyst with the best catalytic performance was obtained by controlling the hydrolysis/alcoholysis rate during catalyst synthesis by pre-alcoholysis of AIP as the aluminum source, over which the CO conversion and dimethyl ether selectivity could reach 62.6% and 62.5%, respectively.

Numerical investigation on tortuosity of transport paths in cement-based materials

        Xiao-Bao Zuo,Wei Sun,Zhi-Yong Liu,Yu-Juan Tang 사단법인 한국계산역학회 2014 Computers and Concrete, An International Journal Vol.13 No.3

Based on the compositions and structures of cement-based materials, the geometrical models of the tortuosity of transport paths in hardened cement pastes, mortar and concrete, which are associated withthe capillary porosity, cement hydration degree, mixture particle shape, aggregate volume fraction andwater-cement ratio, are established by using a geometric approach. Numerical simulations are carried out to investigate the effects of material parameters such as water-cement ratio, volume fraction of the mixtures, shape and size of aggregates and cement hydration degree, on the tortuosity of transport paths in hardened cement pastes, mortar and concrete. Results indicate that the transport tortuosity in cement-based materials decreases with the increasing of water-cement ratio, and increases with the cement hydration degree, the volume fraction of cement and aggregate, the shape factor and diameter of aggregates, and the material parameters related to cement pastes, such as the water-cement ratio, cement hydration degree and cement volume fraction, are the primary factors that influence the transport tortuosity of cement-based materials.
