Comparing and Evaluating two English versions of Samguk Yusa

The purpose of this paper is to compare and evaluate two English versions of Samguk Yusa. One is translated as Samguk Yusa: Legends and History of the Three Kingdoms of Ancient Korea in 1972 by Ha and Mintz. The other is Samguk Yusa: Legends and History of the Three Kingdoms of Ancient Korea in 2006 by Kim. Comparing and evaluating two versions, Vermeer’s translation model is employed. Three important factors in this model are translators’ purposes, intratextual coherence, and intertextual coherence. Ha and Mintz regarded Samguk Yusa as a collection of legends and stories and ignored historical facts. Kim, however, thought that Samguk Yusa was a precious book because it transmitted us historical facts that had been overlooked by Samguk Sagi. Ha and Mintz did not mention their translational principles, but Kim used sense for sense translational principles. Ha and Mintz broke the intratextual and intertextual coherences by translating the original text arbitrarily. In contrast, Kim always tried to keep both coherences and delivered its message clearly.
Effects of Modified MMT on Mechanical Properties of EVA/MMT Nanocomposites and Their Foams

<P>In this study, nanocomposites of poly(ethylene-co-vinyl acetate) with two kinds of organically modified montmorillonite (OMMT) were prepared by melt intercalation. Their structures and mechanical properties were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and tensile test respectively. Especially, foaming of these nanocomposites mixed with chemical blowing agent was carried out through compression molding. Influences of OMMT on foaming ratio and mechanical properties were investigated by density test, tensile test and tear test. Results revealed that both kinds of OMMT with proper content increased tensile strength and Young's modulus of nanocomposites without a compromise of elongation at break. For foaming, OMMTs apparently improved foaming ratio and in particular, one of them can improve tear strength, tensile strength, Young's modulus and elongation although the density was decreased.</P>
High-frequency micromechanical resonators from aluminium–carbon nanotube nanolaminates

At micro- and nanoscales, materials with high Young’s moduli and low densities are of great interest for high-frequency micromechanical resonator devices. Incorporating carbon nanotubes (CNTs), with their unmatched properties, has added functionality to many man-made composites. We report on the fabrication of ≤100-nm-thick laminates by sputter-deposition of aluminium onto a two-dimensional single-walled CNT network. These nanolaminates—composed of Al, its native oxide Al<SUB>2</SUB>O<SUB>3</SUB> and CNTs—are fashioned, in a scalable manner, into suspended doubly clamped micromechanical beams. Dynamic flexural measurements show marked increases in resonant frequencies for nanolaminates with Al–CNT laminae. Such increases, further supported by quasi-static flexural measurements, are partly attributable to enhancements in elastic properties arising from the addition of CNTs. As a consequence, these nanolaminate micromechanical resonators show significant suppression of mechanical nonlinearity and enhanced strength, both of which are advantageous for practical applications and analogous to biological nanocomposites, similarly composed of high-aspect-ratio, mechanically superior mineral platelets in a soft protein matrix.

A mycelial chitin deacetylase has been purified from a chitin deacetylase-hyperproducing fungus, Absidiα coerulea CHK-1. The purified enzyme had a molecular mass of about 62 kDa on denaturated and natural conditions. The pI was 5.5. The chitin deacetylase, when resolved by SDS-PAGE, was positive for Schiff staining, suggesting that the enzyme is a glycoprotein. When O-hydroxylated chitin (glycolchitin) was used as a substrate, the enzyme displayed a temperature optimum of around 50℃ and a pH optimum of around PH 5,5. The enzyme was stable to incubation from pH 3.0 to pH 6.5 at 4℃ for 24 hr. The presence of chitin protected the enzyme from heat inactivation, the extent depending upon the substrate concentration. The activity of the enzyme was stimulated by Mn2+ ion. The enzyme is active on chitooligosaccharides with more than two N-acetylglucosamine residues (M-acetylchitobiose). However, the enzyme is not active on N-acetylglucosamine. The enzyme had an apparent Km of 12.4 mM and Kcat of 32.4 /sec for glycol chitin, respectively.
Clioquinol induces autophagy in cultured astrocytes and neurons by acting as a zinc ionophore

<P><B>Abstract</B></P><P>Recent studies have demonstrated that clioquinol, an antibiotic with an anti-amyloid effect, acts as a zinc ionophore under physiological conditions. Because increases in labile zinc may induce autophagy, we examined whether clioquinol induces autophagy in cultured astrocytes in a zinc-dependent manner.</P><P>Within 1h of exposure to 0.1–10μM clioquinol, the levels of microtubule-associated protein 1 light chain 3 (LC3)-II, a marker of autophagy, began to increase in astrocytes. Confocal live-cell imaging of GFP-LC3-transfected astrocytes showed the formation of LC3(+) autophagic vacuoles (AVs), providing a further indication that clioquinol induced autophagy. Addition of 3-methyladenine or small-interfering RNA against autophagy-related gene 6 (ATG6/Beclin-1) blocked clioquinol-induced increases in LC3-II. FluoZin-3 fluorescence microscopy showed that, like the zinc ionophore pyrithione, clioquinol increased intracellular zinc levels in the cytosol and AVs in an extracellular zinc-dependent manner. Zinc chelation with N,N,N′,N′-tetrakis-(2-pyridylmethyl) ethylenediamine (TPEN) reduced, and addition of zinc increased the levels of LC3-II and LC3(+) puncta, indicating that zinc influx plays a key role therein. Moreover, astrocytes and SH-SY5Y cells expressing mutant huntingtin (mHttQ74) accumulated less aggregates when treated with clioquinol, and this effect was reversed by TPEN. These results indicate that clioquinol-induced autophagy is likely to be physiologically functional.</P><P>The present study demonstrates that clioquinol induces autophagy in a zinc-dependent manner and contributes to clearance of aggregated proteins in astrocytes and neurons. Hence, in addition to its metal-chelating effect in and around amyloid beta (Aβ) plaques, clioquinol may contribute to the reduction of Aβ loads by activating autophagy by increasing or normalizing intracellular zinc levels in brain cells.</P> <P><B>Research Highlights</B></P><P>► Clioquinol acts as a zinc ionophore and introduces zinc into autophagic vacuoles. ► Clioquinol induces autophagy in astrocytic cultures in a zinc-dependent manner. ► Autophagy induced by clioquinol reduces accumulation of huntingtin aggregates. ► Excessive clioquinol induces autophagic cell death especially in neurons. ► In conclusion, adequate doses of clioquinol may have beneficial actions in the Alzheimer's Diseases brains.</P>

본 연구는 보육교사를 대상으로 자아탄력성, 자기효능감, 재난인식, 재난대비 정도와 직무적 재난대비에 영향을 미치는 요인을 확인하기 위해서 2019년 9월에서 10월 사이에 서울에 위치한 어린이집보육교사 187명을 대상으로 수행되었다. 연구결과, 보육교사의 24.7%가 재난을 직접 경험하였으며, 91.5%가 재난대비교육을 받은 경험이 있었다. 보육교사의 직무적 재난대비 수준은 1세 미만의 아동을 돌보는 보육교사가 혼합연령을 돌보는 보육교사 보다 높았으며, 보육교사의 직무적 재난대비는자기효능감, 재난에 대한 인식, 일반적 재난대비와 정적인 상관관계가 있었다. 보육교사의 직무적재난대비에 영향을 주는 요인은 자기효능감이었다. 따라서, 보육교사의 직무적 재난대비를 높이기위해 자기효능감을 높이기 위한 재난관리 역량의 향상이 필요하며 또한, 이를 위한 프로그램의 개발과 적용 및 그 효과에 관한 추후 연구가 요구된다. This study was conducted to identify factors influencing of disaster preparedness for childcare teachers in from September to October 2019. The subjects of this study were 187 teachers at 20 childcare centers located in Seoul. The results show that 24.7% of childcare teachers had direct experience with disasters, and 91.5% experienced disaster preparedness education. Job-related disaster preparedness of childcare teachers caring for infants was higher than that of teachers caring for mixed age groups. The childcare teacher’s job-related disaster preparedness had a positive correlation with self-efficacy, perception of disaster, and general disaster preparedness. Factors influencing the childcare teacher’s job-related disaster preparedness were self-efficacy. In order to increase disaster management capabilities of childcare teachers, it is necessary to improve of self-efficacy. Therefore, it is necessary to develop and apply programs to improve self-efficacy related to disaster preparedness among childcare teachers.

Transparent In-doped (1 at.%) zinc oxide (IZO) thin films are deposited by pulsed DC magnetron sputtering with H2 mixed Ar atmosphere on glass substrate without any heating process. Even at room temperature, highly c-axis oriented IZO thin films were grown in perpendicular to the substrate. The hydrogenated IZO (IZO:H) film isolated in H2 atmosphere for 30 min exhibited an average optical transmittance higher than 85% and low electrical resistivity of less than 2.7 × 10?3 Ω·cm. These values are comparable with those of commercially available ITO. Each of the IZO films was used as an anode contact to fabricate organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs) and the device performances studied. At the current density of 1 × 103 A/m2, the OLEDs with IZO:H (H2) anode show excellent efficiency (11 V drive voltage) and a good brightness (8000 cd/m2) of the light emitted from the devices, which are as good as the control device built on a commercial ITO anode.
