Purification and General Properties of Pea Cytoplasmic Fructose - 1 , 6 - bisphosphatase
Hahn, Tae Ryong,Kang, Han Chul,Lee, Sang Won,Cho, Man Ho 생화학분자생물학회 1975 BMB Reports Vol.27 No.6
Cytoplasmic fructose-l,6-bisphosphatase (FBPase) from pea leaves was purified and characterized. The purified enzyme appeared to be homogeneous with a monomeric molecular weight of 37,000 as determined by SDS polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis. The purified enzyme was active at neutrnl pH (pH 6.0 to pH 7.0) and insensitive to dithiothreitol, as are other gluconeogenic FBPases from mammals and yeast. It was relatively stable against heat. The activation energy (Ea) and the Arrhenius frequency factor of the enzyme catalyzed reaction were 8.75 ㎉/㏖ and 1.8×10⁴/s, respectively.

Objective: We evaluated the Korean mothers` level of awareness of human milk bank (HMB) in order to find out the issues in establishing HMB in Korea. These mothers had infants younger than 18 months old to find out the issues that would help establishment of HMB in Korea. Methods: The survey questionnaire was developed by a team composed by nurses, neonatolo-gists, obstetricians, nutritionists, health care specialists and faculty members. The internet survey was performed by sending emails to mothers who are registered to M family members and have children younger than 18 months. In total, 864 questionnaire were gathered from 114,469 answers and the results were analyzed. Results: Fifty two point eight percent of the respondents had awareness of HMB. 79.4% of sub-jects agreed with the necessity of HMB. On the basis of multivariate logistic regression analysis, we found that the numbers of children, awareness of HMB, the concern on the HMB in Korea, and the expected problems in establishing HMB in Korea were significant factors when evaluating the necessity of HMB in Korea. The common factors associated with positive thinking of potential users, donors and recipients were the awareness of HMB, and the experience of feeding own breast milk to other`s babies. Conclusion: More than half of Korean women were found to agree with the necessity of HMB in Korea, even though they had concern on infection controls and management of HMB and the purpose and function of HMB was not widely educated. The establishment of HMB in Korea would be effective with public education and considering their demands.
A Survey on the Awareness of Human Milk Bank in Korean Female Health Care Providers
( Won-ho Hahn ),( Joon-hwan Song ),( Suyeon Park ),( Nam Mi Kang ),( Sukhee Ahn ),( Seunghyun Song ) 대한주산의학회 2017 Perinatology Vol.28 No.1
Objective: Human milk bank is known as best alternative option for sick infants. However, only two human milk banks (HMBs) are working in Korea. In the present study, we evaluated the awareness on the HMB in female health care provider to find out the issues that would help facilitating HMB establishment in Korea. Methods: The survey questionnaire was developed by a team composed with neonatologists, obstetricians, nurses, nutritionists, and health care specialists. The survey was performed for female health care workers in Soon Chun Hyang Cheonan Hospital between March and June in 2016. Eighty-eight of 110 questionnaires were collected and the results were analyzed. Results: Most of subjects were found to have correct knowledge on the breast milk feeding. However, only 49% of subjects had awareness of the presence of HMB. Unfortunately, less than half of them could get information about HMB by official way including mass media. In addition, 76% of subjects were found not to want to use HMB. Most important reason was found as a concern on the safety of donor milk including life style of donors, infection controls, and possible nutritional loss of banked milk. Conclusion: The purpose and function of HMB was not widely educated and it seems to be one of most important reasons why women have negative concept about HMB in Korea. Thus, further study is warranted with more numbers of subjects after active public education about the HMB.

Background: Cosmetics` labels and advertisements are important means for companies to promote sales as well as for consumers and medical experts to choose the products. For this reason, Korea Food and Drug Administration (KFDA) established the guidelines related to cosmetics` labels and advertisements for keeping the consumers from the exaggerative advertisement on cosmetics. In this study we introduce the detailed guideline of cosmetics` Labels and Advertisements and Regulations and analyzed the states abided by the company. Objectives: Including domestic and imported products used in Konkuk university hospital, total 12 companies and 68 cosmetic products were investigated by the ‘Guideline for Cosmetics’ labels and Advertisements` established by Korea Food and Drug Administration(KFDA). Methods: The collected data was analyzed. Results: 47(67%) of the products were using more than one word or phrase prohibited by the guidelines. It is higher rate than expected given that the cosmetics business related to clinics are less competitive on the advertisement than general cosmetic business field. Conclusion: Above all the guidelines should be complied more strictly by the cosmetic advertisement, but also need to consider whether the present guidelines are well reflecting the reality. Medical experts who deal the cosmetics should be aware of guidelines so that recommend proper cosmetics for the patients and not dazzled by the exaggerative advertisement.

Background: T.rubrum is most common fungal pathogens that causes tinea pedis and onychomycosis. Due to limitation of current treatment options, alternative therapies are desirable. We investigated inhibitory effect of UVC, terbinafine liquid and Natural Extracted Anti-fungal Material on T. rumbrum in vitro. Objectives: Total 25 plate was cultured for 10 days on mycosel agar plate; 5 strains of T. rubrum and 5 copies for each strain. They are divided into 5 groups for control, UVC irradiation, terbinafine spray, Biocleanact spray(natural extracted anti-fungal material), UVC and Biocleanact spray group. Methods: The cultured media were irradiated for 1 hour daily for 3 weeks in the germicidal lamp emitting 253.7 nm(UVC) and power of 11mW/cm2 at 10cm distance. Terbinafine liquids and Biocleanact was sprayed respectively twice on the surface to fully cover the colony area. We measured the median diameter of each colony every other day for 3 weeks. And analyzed the change of colony diameter and growth rate. Results: The UVC had barely no effect to restrain the growth of T. rubrum, similar with growth of the control group. However, both the terbinafine spray and Biocleanact slowed down the growth rate remarkably and showed similar effect. Conclusion: We could only figure out the fungistatic effect, but not the fungicidal effect in vitro. UVC irradiation settings in this study totally not effective. In the further study, more variable wavelength and fluences of UVC irradiation should be investigated.
