A test procedure, based on recursive residuals is proposed and developed The power of the test procedure to identify one or more outliers is investigated through simulation, and its relevance to the number and configuration of the outlier.

In this paper, we discuss and review various measures which have been presented for studying outliers, high-leverage points, and influential observations when ridge regression estimation is adopted. We derive the influence function for ${\underline{\hat{\beta}}}\small{R}$, the ridge regression estimator, and discuss its various finite sample approximations when ridge regression is postulated. We also study several diagnostic measures such as Welsh-Kuh's distance, Cook's distance etc.

The present paper describes the results of the cooperative experimental study organized by the Resistance Committee of the Korea Towing Tank Conference, which aims to improve model testing technique and accuracy and to self-evaluate their own capabilities. A Series 60, $C_b=0.60$ model was tested at the towing tanks of Korea Institute of Machinery & Metals, Hyundai Maritime Research Institute, Seoul National University, and Inha University. Results for total resistance, wave pattern analysis, wave pattern analysis, wave profile, trim & sinkage and wake measure ments are presented.

Recently logistic regression is popular in a variety of fields so that a number of statistical packages are developed for analyzing the logistic regression. This paper briefly considers the several types of logistic regression models used depending on different types of data. In addition, when four statistical packages (MINTAB, SAS, SPSS and STATA) are used to apply logistic regression models to the real fields respectively, their scope and characteristics are investigated.

Rejecting Outliers by Maximum Modified Normed Residual

One may be particularly interested in identifying which are the genuinely exceptional observations, in order to create a new insight into the phenomena under study. To detect outliers, many statistics have been proposed such as the maximum normed residual (MNR), a statistic equivalent to the maximum normed residual C. Daniel proposed, studentized residual, standardized residual, and so on. This paper gives a procedure for calculating critical values of the maximum modified normed residual and the distribution of the modified normed residual.

In this paper, we discuss and review various measures which have been presented for studying outliers. high-leverage points, and influential observations when principal component regression is adopted. We suggest several diagnostics measures when principal component regression is used. A numerical example is illustrated. Some individual data points may be flagged as outliers, high-leverage point, or influential points.
Sustainable Cities and Korean Ecological Traditions

There is a growing feeling that, while Western rational, scientific and technological approaches have contributed greatly to the urbanization of Korea, the undesirable consequences of this pattern of development necessitate a new, more ecologically sound approach reflecting the cultural values of Korean society. The principal aims of this paper are to improve the understanding of the relationships between environmental knowledge, awareness, and action connected with growth and development from a Korea perspective, and to suggest prospects for a new relationship between sustainability and the Korean ecological tradition. To explore this new relationship, this paper begins with a discussion of sustainability and a comparison of Western and Eastern approaches to nature and environment. Then it reviews research on the eco-city which contributed to the inclusion of environmental dimensions into urban land use planning and development. From these broad bases, it examines paradigms and movements that had an impact on the development of the eco-city concept, with particular emphasis on "sustainable development" - the most recent paradigm. It moves on to address the growing interest in the Korean ecological tradition that lies in the same context with sustainability, sustainable development, and the principles of sustainable development. This chapter also provides the reader with how the tradition has been applied at the house layout, eco-techniques and urban planning level. Finally, a brief conclusion is drawn in the final chapter.
