Purpose: We describe a 54-year-old woman with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) who suddenly presented with chorea and had positive antiphospholipid antibodies. F-18 FDG PET showed abnormally increased glucose metabolism in bilateral putamen and primary motor cotex. Tc-99m ECD SPECt also showed abnormally increased regional cerebral blood flow in bilateral putamen. She was treated with corticosteroid and aspirin after which the symptoms improved. Four months later, follow up F-18 FDG PET showed improvement with resolution of hypermetabolism in bilateral putamen. This case suggests that striatal hypermetabolism is associated with chorea in SLE.

Since the CBD(Conservation on Biological Diversity)`s 10th Conference of the Parties adopted the protocol on access to genetic resources and benefit sharing in Nagoya 2010, the importance of endangered species studies such as habitat distribution, protection and management have been more emerged. Corylopsis coreana, an endangered species in Korea, was isolated nationally and has been damaged by anthropogenic factors. In this paper, we identified the factors affecting C. coreana habitat at the national scale and regional scale using National Survey of Natural Environment and predicted the distribution of C. coreana. Annual precipitation, precipitation of wettest quarter, temperature seasonality and Digital Elevation Model(DEM) were derived as important factors at the national scale, and precipitation of wettest quarter, DEM and solar radiation on spring were identified as important factors at regional scale. Colylopsis distribution was affected by an effect of climate significantly at the national scale, and by additionally the microclimate and topography at regional scale. These findings will be used as the basis on habitat conservation and restoration plan and climate change.
대기경계층 난류유동의 Large Eddy Simulation 해석기법의 알고리즘에 관한 연구

LES(Large eddy simulation) is an intermediate technique between the direct simulation of turbulent flows and the solution of the Reynold-averaged equations. The method is initiated by the introduction of a filtering operation which seperates the large-scale and small scale structures. The large scales are computed explicitly, whereas the small scale necessarily are modeled. In this study, a LES model used three-dimensional incompressible Navier-Stokes equation is calculated for the numerical simulation of turbulent flow in the PBL. Instantaneous and detailed flow of velocity component war obtain with LES and horizontal mean vertical profile of potential temperature was indicated typical profile in the PBL.

Background/Aims: Gastric cancer evolves in the pathologic mucosal milieu, and its development is characterized by both the loss of acid-secreting parietal cells and mucosal cell metaplasia, called spasmolytic polypeptide-expressing metaplasia (SPEM). Cytokines, such as interleukin (IL)-10, IL-1β, and IL-6, play a key role in gastric carcinogenesis. However, changes in the cytokine profile of SPEM have not been evaluated. Methods: To induce SPEM in mouse stomachs, C57BL/6 mice were intraperitoneally injected with tamoxifen and sacrificed at 3, 10, and 21 days after treatment. RNA-sequencing (RNA-seq) and a multiplex bead array were used to measure cytokines in the stomachs of tamoxifen-treated/control mice. Results: The administration of tamoxifen led to the rapid development and histological normalization of SPEM 3 and 10 days after administration, respectively. RNA-seq revealed that the expression of IL-10 was decreased 3 days after tamoxifen administration. The multiplex assay identified a significant decline in IL-10 levels 3 days after tamoxifen treatment (58.38±34.44 pg/mL vs 94.09±4.98 pg/mL, p=0.031), which normalized at 10 and 21 days after tamoxifen treatment. Immunofluorescence staining confirmed that IL-10 expression was markedly decreased at the time of SPEM development and subsequently returned to normal, accompanied by a reversal in histologic changes. Conclusions: IL-10 may play a pivotal role in the tamoxifen-induced acute development of gastric SPEM. (Gut Liver 2017;11:789-797)
ECAP 강가공에 의한 5083 Al 합금의 초소성 변형

초기 결정립 크기가 200 μm인 상업용 5083 Al 합금에서 equal channel anglar pressing(ECAP) 강가공에 의하여 결정립을 초미세화 시킬 수 있었다. ECAP는 200℃에서 수행되었고, 반복 passes시 180˚ 회전을 주면서 같은 시편에 8 passes까지 강가공을 가하였다. 미세조직 특징은 1 pass후 평균 0.2 μm의 폭과 0.8 μm의 길이를 갖는 연신된 평행한 bands가 균일하게 형성 되었고, 4 passes후 결정립 크기가 약 0.3 μm인 등축의 초미세 결정립이 얻어졌다. 이러한 초미세 결정립을 갖는 5083 Al 합금에서 저온 초소성 성질이 얻어졌는데, 약 0.5 μm의 결정립 크기를 갖을 때 250℃이하의 온도에서 연신율이 200 %이상인 초소성 거동을 나타내었다. An ultrafine grained structure was introduced into a commercial 5083 Al alloy with the initial grain size of ∼200 μm using the equal channel angular pressing technique. Equal channel angular pressing was successfully conducted at 200℃ and the results showed that the microstructure was reasonably homogeneous after single passage and consisted of parallel bands of elongated substructure having the average width of 0.2 μm and the average length of 0.8 μm. Repetitive passes were conducted on the same sample up to total 8 passes through the die so that the sample was rotated 180˚ around its longitudanal axis between passes. An equiaxed ultrafine grained structure of ∼0.3 μm was obtained in the present alloy after 8 passes. It was found that a 5083 Al alloy with the grain size of ∼ 0.3 μm exhibited a superplastic-like behavior with elongation to failure in excess of 200% below.

CITIS(Contractor Integrated Technical Information Service) is a contractor's developed service to provide electronic access and/or delivery of contractually required information. CITIS satisfies one of the major CALS objectives to furnish a single-entry point for authorized access to contractor-generated Contract Data Requirement List(CDRL) data. A critical requirement for the practical implementation of the CITIS concept is the ability to access multiple existing heterogeneous databases in a fashion transparent to the CITIS user. In this paper, we will propose a prototype system model for CITIS, and discuss the system architecture of proposed CITIS system as a global information management system for distributed and heterogeneous local information systems. Furthermore, we will discuss about the required server module and using-scenario of proposed CITIS system.

In this study, methotrexate (MTX)-encapsulated polymeric micelles using methoxy poly(ethylene glycol) (MPEG)-grafted chitosan (ChitoPEG) copolymer were prepared. The MIX-incorporated polymeric micelles of ChitoPEG copolymer has a particle size of around 50-100 nm. In 1H nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) study, the specific peaks of MTX disappeared in heavy water ($D_2O$) and only the specific peak of MPEG was observed, while all of the peaks were confirmed in dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO). These results indicated that MTX was complexed with chitosan and then formed an ion complex inner-core of the polymeric micelle in an aqueous environment. The drug contents of the polymeric micelle were around $4{\sim}12%$ and the loading efficiency of MTX in the polymeric micelles was higher than 60% (w/w) for all of the formulations. The cytotoxicity of MIX and MTX-incorporated polymeric micelle against CT26 tumor cells was not significantly changed.

Myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) is a relatively uncommon hematological disorder, charactedzed by cytopenia in the peripheral blood and normo-or hypercellularity in the bone marrow with morphological dysplastic change. Ineffective hematopoiesis leads to hematological failures in this syndrome. MDS is largeIy affected in older individuaIs with a median age of 60-75. It's association with pregnancy is even rarer. Although the exact incidence of MDS in pregancy is unknown, it is likely to be less than 1 per 100,000 pregnancies annually. Recently, we experienced a case of MDS presented initially during pregnancy in a 34-year-old primipara and managed with intensive hematologic support. Uerine rupture occurred in pregnancy complicated with MDS at 34 gestation weeks and a healthy infant was successfully delivered by Cesarean section. We report this case with a brief review of the literature.

Cold-induced norepinephrine activates β3-adrenergic receptors (β3-AR) to stimulate the kinase cascade and cAMP-response element-binding protein, leading to the induction of thermogenic gene expression including uncoupling protein 1 (Ucp1). Here, we showed that stimulation of the β3-AR by its agonists isoproterenol and CL316,243 in adipocytes increased the expression of Ucp1 and Heme Oxygenase 1 (Hmox1), the principal Nrf2 target gene, suggesting the functional interaction of Nrf2 with β3-AR signaling. The activation of Nrf2 by tert-butylhydroquinone and reactive oxygen species (ROS) production by glucose oxidase induced both Ucp1 and Hmox1 expression. The increased expression of Ucp1 and Hmox1 was significantly reduced in the presence of a Nrf2 chemical inhibitor or in Nrf2-deleted (knockout) adipocytes. Furthermore, Nrf2 directly activated the Ucp1 promoter, and this required DNA regions located at -3.7 and -2.0 kb of the transcription start site. The CL316,243-induced Ucp1 expression in adipocytes and oxygen consumption in obese mice were partly compromised in the absence of Nrf2 expression. These data provide additional insight into the role of Nrf2 in β3-AR-mediated Ucp1 expression and energy expenditure, further highlighting the utility of Nrf2-mediated thermogenic stimulation as a therapeutic approach to diet-induced obesity.
