논문 : 해외공연이 최승희의 예술세계에 미친 영향

최성옥 ( Sung Ok Choi ) 한국무용기록학회 2010 무용역사기록학 Vol.20 No.-

This study aims to examine how much Ishii Baku and overseas dance performance tours had impacted Seung-Hee Choi`s choreography and her unique dance styles. This study also tries to show her contribution to the modernization of Korea`s traditional dance. During the Japanese colonial era, Seung-Hee Choi showed the pain of the Korean people who had lost their nation through dancing. This nationalistic aspect was the foundation of her choreography and her dance styles. She was influenced by Ishii Baku who was her Japanese dance teacher. With his influence, she choreographed the new form of Korean modern dance styles by incorporating Korean traditional dance movements to her own creative style. After overseas tours of dance performances in the U.S.A., Europe, and South America from 1938 to 1940, Seung-Hee Choi realized that her dance styles incorporating traditional Korean dance movements are more acclaimed by the foreigners than the domestic audiences. Thus, she decided to develop her own unique dance styles more incorporated with traditional Korean dance. Furthermore, she wants to establish East Asian dance styles. Choi tried to establish "Choi Seung-Hee East Asian Ballet Foundation" for a systematic study of Asian dances. However, her venture failed because the social and political milieu was not conducive at that time. This study confirms that Isihe Baku and the American dance tour had significant influences on building Choi`s own dance styles. In the American and European dance tours, she introduced "Bosalchum" and "Choripdong," which showed Korean national emotions and attracted the interest of Western ballet groups that tried to incorporate the nationalistic materials into the modern dance. During the South American dance tour, she expressed mistery and beauty of Asia by harmonizing Korean traditional dance movements and Western dance styles. After she recognized that traditional Korean dance movement attracted foreign interests, she devoted herself to internationalize Korean modern dance, which eventually became the foundation of Korean modern dance and modernized Korean traditional dances. With her own artistic ideas, she constantly created dance works. Therefore, she deserves to be recognized as one of the most significant figures in Korean dance history in spite of the political ideology and her achievements should be taught to the young generation.

Dose comparison between prescription methods according to anatomical variations in intracavitary brachytherapy for cervical cancer

Choi, Euncheol,Kim, Jae Ho,Kim, Ok Bae,Byun, Sang Jun,Kim, Jin Hee,Oh, Young Kee The Korean Society for Radiation Oncology 2018 Radiation Oncology Journal Vol.36 No.3

Purpose: We compared how doses delivered via two-dimensional (2D) intracavitary brachytherapy (ICBT) and three-dimensional (3D) ICBT varied anatomically. Materials and Methods: A total of 50 patients who received 30 Gy of 3D ICBT after external radiotherapy (RT) were enrolled. We compared the doses of the actual 3D and 2D ICBT plans among patients grouped according to six anatomical variations: differences in a small-bowel V2Gy, small bowel circumference, the direction of bladder distension, bladder volume, sigmoid V3.5Gy, and sigmoid circumference. Seven dose parameters were measured in line with the EMBRACE recommendations. Results: In terms of bladder volume, the bladder and small-bowel D2cc values were lower in the 150-250 mL bladder volume subgroup; and the rectum, sigmoid, and bladder D2mL values were all lower in the >250 mL subgroup, for 3D vs. 2D ICBT. In the sigmoid V3.5Gy >2 mL subgroup, the sigmoid and bladder D2mL values were significantly lower for 3D than 2D ICBT. The bladder D2mL value was also significantly lower for 3D ICBT, as reflected by the sigmoid circumference. In patients with a small bowel V2.0Gy >10 mL or small bowel circumference >15%, most dose parameters were significantly lower for 3D than 2D ICBT. The bladder distension direction did not significantly affect the doses. Conclusion: Compared to 2D ICBT, a greater bladder volume can reduce the internal 3D ICBT organ dose without affecting the target dose.

The Anti-inflammatory and Anti-nociceptive Effects of Ethyl Acetate Fraction of Cynanchi Paniculati Radix

        Choi, Jung-Hyun,Jung, Byung-Ha,Kang, Ok-Hwa,Choi, Hyuk Joon,Park, Pil Sang,Cho, Sun Hee,Kim, Youn-Chul,Sohn, Dong Hwan,Park, Hyun,Lee, John Hwa,Kwon, Dong-Yeul Pharmaceutical Society of Japan 2006 Biological & pharmaceutical bulletin Vol.29 No.5

<P>The anti-inflammatory and anti-nociceptive effects and sedative activities of the ethyl acetate fraction of <I>Cynanchum paniculatum</I> (EACP) were evaluated in mice and rats by acetic acid-induced vascular permeability, arachidonic acid-induced paw edema, cotton pellet-induced granuloma formation, formalin-induced licking time, acetic acid-induced writhing response, and pentobarbital-induced sleeping time. EACP at a dose of 40 mg/kg significantly exhibited anti-inflammatory activities on acetic acid-induced vascular permeability, arachidonic acid-induced paw edema, and the late phase of formalin-induced licking time. Moreover, it showed anti-nociceptive effects on acetic acid-induced writhing responses and significant sedative effects on pentobarbital-induced sleeping time. The results demonstrated that the anti-nociceptive effects are apparently related to the sedative effects of EACP. These results support the use of <I>Cynanchum paniculatum</I> in relieving inflammatory pain.</P>

Relationship Between Earlobe Crease and Brachialankle Pulse Wave Velocity in Non-hypertensive, Non-diabetic Adults in Korea

Sang In Choi,Hee Cheol Kang,Choon Ok Kim,Seung Beom Lee,Won Ju Hwang,Dae Ryong Kang 한국역학회 2009 Epidemiology and Health Vol.31 No.-

OBJECTIVES: Several studies have found a significant association between the presence of earlobe crease (ELC) and cardiovascular disease (CVD). Brachial-ankle Pulse Wave Velocity (baPWV) is a non-invasive and useful measure of arterial stiffness predicting cardiovascular events and mortality. However, few studies have reported the relationship between ELC and baPWV as a new measure of arterial stiffness. The purpose of this study was to determine whether ELC is related to baPWV in non-diabetic, non-hypertensive, and apparently healthy Korean adults. METHODS: A cross-sectional study was conducted on 573 non-hypertensive, non-diabetic Korean adults aged 20-80 yr. Subjects were stratified into three groups according to gender and menopausal status. baPWV was measured by an automatic waveform analyser. The association between ELC and baPWV was assessed by multiple linear regression analysis after adjusting for conventional cardiovascular disease risk factors including age, gender, blood pressure, lipid profile, and smoking status etc. RESULTS: The overall frequency of ELC was 19.02% and the subjects with ELC showed significantly higher mean baPWV (p<0.0001). Multiple linear regression of subjects revealed that the presence of ELC was independently associated with baPWV (male, p<0.0001; premenopausal female p=0.0162; postmenopausal female p=0.0208). CONCLUSION: ELC had a significant correlation with baPWV, independently controlling for other classical cardiovascular risk factors in adults aged 20 yr or older. ELC is an important surrogate marker of increased arterial stiffness as measured by baPWV in Korean adults. (Epidemiol Health 2009;31:e2009002).

      • Collaborative Governance in the Low-Income Housing Services in the United States: Roles of Nonprofit Organizations

( Sang Ok Choi ),( Keon Hyung Lee ) 한국행정학회 2010 한국행정학회 학술발표논문집 Vol.2010 No.-

This study examines major characteristics of low-income housing delivery systems and programs in the United States. From a case study of the State of New Jersey, this study provides some implications for Korean government to build a collaborative governance system of the lowincome housing services. First, a network administrative organization (NAO) - the Housing and Community Development Network of New Jersey - can be a possible collaborative governance system in Korea in part because of sharing resources and knowledge with state and local governments and other nonprofits to support the low-income housing services. Second, the New Jersey`s housing network system fosters the ability of making effective collaborative housing partnerships with entities of state and local governments, lending institutions and the private forprofit sector. Using grants and loans from various governmental programs to leverage private investment in thousands of projects of varying sizes, nonprofit housing and regional profit corporations are building new housing units, preserving old ones. Finally, this study suggests that housing decision makers and nonprofit managers should consider critical contingency factors, such as trust and goal consensus, prior to determination of a collaborative governance system for the low-income housing services.

      • Dental management of a child with Arnold-Chiari malformation: A case report

Sang Mi Jo,Ko Eun Lee,Ok Hyung Nam,Hyo-Seol Lee,Sung Chul Choi,Kwang Chul Kim,Mi Sun Kim Asia Association for Disability and Oral Health 2020 대한장애인치과학회지 Vol.16 No.2

Arnold-Chiari malformation is a displacement of the tonsils and posterior vermis of the cerebellum through the foramen magnum, compressing the spinomedullary junction. The most common presenting symptoms are headache, cervical pain, back pain, motor weakness, loss of balance, dysphasia, tinnitus, and dysarthria. Other less common symptoms include seizure, obstructive sleep apnea, deafness, numbness of the face, and cranial malformation. In the present case, an 11-year-old female was referred to Department of Pediatric Dentistry at Kyung Hee University Hospital by an ophthalmologist for dental caries on the molars. The patient was diagnosed with Arnold-Chiari malformation. She underwent posterior fossa decompression and cranioclasty at seven years of age. Clinical examination showed poor oral hygiene and dental caries on the maxillary right first molar and mandibular left first molar. Given the patient’s behavior problem, cavity treatment and prophylaxis were performed under conscious sedation for about 1h with nitrous oxide inhalation and midazolam intramuscular administration. In addition, continuous follow-up checks were carried out with periodic prophylaxis for the prevention of dental caries and gingivitis. As the syndrome involves many different medical problems, special care should be considered. Additionally, dental treatment should be carried out in a comprehensive consultation system.

        Choi, Daye,Lee, Haeri,Lee, Jeong Jun,Jung, Ok-Sang American Chemical Society 2017 Crystal Growth & Design Vol.17 No.12

<P>A practical porous crystalline matrix for molecular structure determination of a wide range of liquid chemicals has been set up. We herein report proof-of-concept research on the temperature-dependent single-crystal-to-single-crystal (SCSC) guest exchange of the <I>P</I>- and <I>M</I>-helix-enantiomeric multilayered ensemble with flexible open-channels of the shortest diameter, 4.4 × 4.4 Å2. This landmark ensemble is, to the best of our knowledge, the most efficient, practical, tolerant, and reproducible porous matrix for single crystal structure determination of general liquid compounds via easy SCSC guest exchange without any desolvation process. The innovative channel behaves in a guest-dependent flexible response manner and enables scientists to solve structures of a wide range of liquid chemicals. This paper reports the molecular structures of 41 liquid chemicals including chiral and natural compounds via guest exchange at >75% success rate.</P><P>A flexible porous matrix enables scientists to solve molecular structures of a wide range of liquid chemicals via SCSC guest exchange.</P><P><B>Graphic Abstract</B> <IMG SRC='http://pubs.acs.org/appl/literatum/publisher/achs/journals/content/cgdefu/2017/cgdefu.2017.17.issue-12/acs.cgd.7b01301/production/images/medium/cg-2017-01301w_0007.gif'></P><P><A href='http://pubs.acs.org/doi/suppl/10.1021/cg7b01301'>ACS Electronic Supporting Info</A></P>

Identification of campesterol from Chrysanthemum coronarium L. and its antiangiogenic activities

        Choi, Jung-Min,Lee, Eun-Ok,Lee, Hyo-Jung,Kim, Kwan-Hyun,Ahn, Kyoo-Seok,Shim, Bum-Sang,Kim, Nam-Il,Song, Myoung-Chong,Baek, Nam-In,Kim, Sung-Hoon Heyden & Son 2007 Phytotherapy research Vol.21 No.10

<P>Campesterol, a plant sterol in nature, is known to have cholesterol lowering and anticarcinogenic effects. Since angiogenesis is essential for cancer, it was surmised that an antiangiogenic effect may be involved in the anticancer action of this compound. This study investigated the effect of campesterol on basic fibroblast growth factor (bFGF)-induced angiogenesis in vitro in human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) and an in vivo chorioallantoic membrane (CAM) model. Campesterol isolated from an ethylacetate fraction of Chrysanthemum coronarium L. showed a weak cytotoxicity in non-proliferating HUVECs. Within the non-cytotoxic concentration range, campesterol significantly inhibited the bFGF-induced proliferation and tube formation of HUVECs in a concentration-dependent manner, while it did not affect the motility of HUVECs. Furthermore, campesterol effectively disrupted the bFGF-induced neovascularization in chick chorioallantoic membrane (CAM) in vivo. Taken together, these results support a potential antiangiogenic action of campesterol via an inhibition of endothelial cell proliferation and capillary differentiation.
