급성 연쇄상구균 감염후 사구체 신염에 동반된 고혈압 뇌증 1례

고혈압성 뇌병증은 고혈압 환자에서 고혈압과 관련된 두통, 경련, 시각장애 및 다른 신경학적 장애를 동반하는 증후군이다. 증례는 13세 여자환아로 급성 연쇄상구균 감염후 사구체 신염에 동반된 고혈압성 뇌병증 환자였다. 내원시 혈압은 150/110 mmHg 였고 내원당시 검사소견상 단백뇨, 혈뇨, C3의 감소 소견을 보였다. 내원 2일째 자기공명영상을 시행하였고 스핀에코 T2 강조영상에서 양 후두엽과 후 측두엽에 고신호의 이상 부위들이 발견되었다. 치료후 실시한 자기공명영상은 정상 소견을 보였다. 본 저자들은 급성 사구체 신염 환자에서 자기공명영상으로 고혈압성 뇌병증을 진단하고 치료한 1례를 문헌고찰과 함께 보고하는 바이다. Hypertensive encephalopathy is a syndrome consisting of headache, seizures, visual changes, and other neurologic disturbances in patients with elevated systemic blood pressure. We experienced a 13-year-old girl who presented with the manifestations of hypertensive encephalopathy in acute post-streptococcal glomerulonephritis. She visited our hospital because of generalized tonic-clonic seizure after severe headache. On admission her blood pressure was 150/110 mmHg and initial laboratory findings revealed proteinuria, hematuria and decreased C3 level and, T2-weighted MR image showed increased T2 signal in both occipital lobes, suggesting cerebral edema. On follow-up MRI, pathologic lesions were improved. We described a case of hypertensive encephalopathy in acute post-streptococcal glomerulonephritis diagnosed by MRI with a brief review of some related literatures.

Background : This study was carried out to select the medicinal crop having the superior antimicrobial activity against 5 microorganisms among 20 medicinal crops. Methods and Results : Dried plants were extracted by methanol. The extracts of each plant were evaporated under vacuum. The extracts were absorbed into 50㎕ of each extracts on paper disk and diameter of clear zone was confirmed around the colony. The results showed that diameter of the clear zone against Escherichia coli was the widest in Rhus javanica(R. javanica, 16mm), followed by Evening primrose(14.5mm), Chinaberry(13mm) and Giant knotweed(11mm). Also, diameter of the clear zone against Vibrio parahaemolyticu was the widest in R. javanica(26mm), followed by Evening primrose(21mm), chrysanthemum flower(19mm), Chinese pepper(16.5mm), Chidii rhizoma(11.5mm), Curly dock(11.5mm), Comfrey(11mm), Black nightshade(11mm) and Mustard(10mm). Likewise, diameter of the clear zone aginast Proteus mirabilis was the widest in R. javanica(11.5mm), followed by Chinaberry(11mm). Specially, diameter of the clear zone against Bacillus subtilis and Staphylococcus aureus was identified only in R. javanica(12mm and 11mm, respectively). Therefore, R. javanica showed the best excellent antimicrobial activity among 20 medicinal crops. Total phenolic and flavonoid contents of R. javanica were 2,725mg/100g and 30.2mg/100g respectively. DPPH and ABTS activity of R. javanica were 92.6% and 98.4%, respectively. Conclusion : These results suggest that R. javanica can be utilized as natural food additives and antioxidant materials because of its powerful antimicrobial action and the high antioxidant activity.

<P> A wavelength swept broadband source based on a sub-10-femtosecond (fs) pulse laser and a spatial filtering method was developed for the application to frequency-domain optical coherence tomography (FD-OCT). The use of the sub-10-fs laser with a galvano scanner operating at a high repetition rate provided a fast tunable broadband light source, which tuned the spectral component across the spectral bandwidth of 110 nm at 1-kHz repetition rate. The spectrally filtered light beam had 0.5-nm instantaneous spectral linewidths at 1-mW average output power. The implemented FD-OCT system clearly imaged a narrow air gap between glass plates with an axial resolution of 5 <EM><TEX>$\mu$</TEX></EM>m, which proved a potential for the application of a short pulse laser source to the FD-OCT system. The proposed wavelength swept source scheme can secure mode-hopping-free operation at fast tuning speed, which could be applicable for the FD-OCT system properly. </P>
Effects of Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi and Soil Conditions on Crop Plant Growth

We investigated the effects on various crops of inoculation with species of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) in soils from different sources and selected AMF species suitable for domestic environment-friendly farming. Effects on plants varied with the AMF species used. In carrot, Scutellospora heterogama, Acaulospora longula, and Funneliformis mosseae had a positive effect on growth of the host, whereas AMF had only weak effects on the growth of red pepper and leek. AMF inoculation had positive effects on the growth of carrot and sorghum. The results of this study indicate the nature of the relationship between soil, plants, and AMF; this study therefore has important implications for the future use of AMF in environment-friendly agriculture.
Review : Biodiversity and Distribution of Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi in Korea

In this study, we summarized previous studies on diversity and distribution of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) for last 30 years in Korea. According to a review of the literature concerning AMF in Korea, 14 genera and 89 species have been recorded. Host plants for AMF are very diverse and include crop species and woody plants in natural forests. Based on the achievements of the last 30 years of study on AMF, we anticipate that relatively more intensive studies of the functional and genetic diversity of AMF will be conducted.

This study was conducted to reveal the diversity of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) in Mt. Munan, based on the morphological and molecular characters. Soil and root samples were collected from the rhizosphere of host plants including Lindera obtusiloba, Stephanandra incisa, Styrax obassis and Symplocos sawafutagi and AMF were trap-cultured with Sorghum bicolor as a host plant in a greenhouse. The spores were extracted from the cultured soils and five species were identified using morphological and molecular characteristics; Acaulospora longula, A. mellea, Ambispora leptoticha, Gigaspora margarita and Paraglomus occultum. The distribution of AMF showed different trends according to host plants. The dominant AMF species were A. longula in L. obtusiloba, A. leptoticha in S. incisa, S. obassis and S. sawafutagi.
