Enhancing the Robustness and Efficiency of Scale-free Network with Limited Link Addition

( Li Li ),( Qing-shan Jia ),( Xiaohong Guan ),( Hengtao Wang ) 한국인터넷정보학회 2012 KSII Transactions on Internet and Information Syst Vol.6 No.5

The robustness of a network is usually measured by error tolerance and attack vulnerability. Significant research effort has been devoted to determining the network design with optimal robustness. However, little attention has been paid to the problem of how to improve the robustness of existing networks. In this paper, we investigate how to optimize attack tolerance and communication efficiency of an existing network under the limited link addition. A survival fitness metric is defined to measure both the attack tolerance and the communication efficiency of the network. We show that network topology reconfiguration optimization with limited link addition (NTRLA) problem is NP-hard. Two approximate solution methods are developed. First, we present a degree-fitness parameter to guide degree-based link addition method. Second, a preferential configuration node-protecting cycle (PCNC) method is developed to do trade-off between network robustness and efficiency. The performance of PCNC method is demonstrated by numerical experiments.

Operation start time and long-term outcome of hepatocellular carcinoma after curative hepatic resection

        Qiang Lu,Qing-Shan Li,Wei Zhang,Kang Liu,Tao Li,Jia-Wei Yu,Yi Lv,Xu-Feng Zhang 대한외과학회 2020 Annals of Surgical Treatment and Research(ASRT) Vol.99 No.1

Purpose: The objective of the current study was to examine the potential effects of surgery start times (morning vs. afternoon) on the long-term prognosis of patients after hepatic resection (HR) for hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). Methods: All eligible patients were divided into 2 groups according to the start time of surgery: group M (morning surgery, 8 AM–1 PM) and group A (afternoon surgery, 1 PM–6 PM). Clinicopathologic and surgical parameters, as well as oncologic outcomes were compared between the 2 groups. Results: In total, 231 patients were included in the study. There was no difference in age, body mass index, comorbidities, tumor size, tumor location, tumor stages, surgical procedures, or surgical margin between morning and afternoon surgery (all P > 0.05). In contrast, patients in group M experienced longer operation duration than those in group A (median, 240 minutes vs. 195 minutes, P = 0.004). However, no differences of overall survival were observed between morning and afternoon surgery groups in the whole cohort or stratified by surgical margin (all P > 0.05). Conclusion: Surgery start times during the work day have no measurable influence on patient outcome following curative HR for HCC, indicating good self-regulation and professional judgment of surgeons for progressive fatigue during surgery

A design of transmission-type multi-target X-ray tube based on electric field modulation

        Zhao, Lei,Jia, Wenbao,Jin, Limin,Shan, Qing,Cheng, Can,Zhu, Hongkui,Hei, Daqian Korean Nuclear Society 2021 Nuclear Engineering and Technology Vol.53 No.9

Multi-target X-ray tube is a new type X-ray source, and can be applied in many fields such as sensitive X-ray fluorescence analysis and medical imaging. In this work, we report an electric field modulation multi-target X-ray tube, which contains four targets (Cr, Ni, Au, Mo) coated on a Beryllium (Be) window. A four-valve electric field deflector was developed to deflect the electron beam to bombard the corresponding targets. Particle dynamics analysis software was employed to simulate the particle tracking of electron beam. The results show that the 30 keV electron beam could get a 6.7 mm displacement on the target plane by 105 V/m electric field. The focus areas are about 2 mm × 5 mm and 4 mm × 2.5 mm after deflection in two directions. Thermal behavior calculated by ANSYS shows that the designed target assembly could withstand a 10 W continuous power. The optimum target thicknesses and emission spectra were obtained by Geant4 when the thickness of Be window was 300 mm and the electron beam incident angle was 0.141 rad. The results indicate that this multi-target X-ray tube could provide different X-ray sources effectively.

Extraction of hyper-elastic material parameters using BLSTM neural network from instrumented indentation

Jing Jin Shen,Jia Ming Zhou,Shan Lu,Yue Yang Hou,Rong Qing Xu 대한기계학회 2023 JOURNAL OF MECHANICAL SCIENCE AND TECHNOLOGY Vol.37 No.12

Instrumented indentation is a versatile method of extracting hyper-elastic material parameters, particularly useful for applications where stress-strain data are difficult to be insitu measured. Because the analytical force-displacement relation is still unavailable for the indentation of hyper-elastic materials, identifying hyper-elastic parameters often requires an iterative optimization strategy that fits finite element simulations with experimental data. However, the optimization strategy is burdened by heavy computation and its prediction accuracy is greatly influenced by the choice of optimization algorithm. To address these challenges in this study, a bidirectional long short-term memory (BLSTM) neural network is presented that directly predicts hyper-elastic material parameters from indentation load-displacement data, focusing on Mooney-Rivlin hyper-elasticity as an example. To improve the predication accuracy, the condition numbers for the inverse identification of the hyper-elastic parameters are investigated. And, a normalization procedure is proposed to treat the input data, which can guarantee the BLSTM network is well-conditioned. During evaluation, the trained BLSTM network significantly outperforms the iterative optimization strategy using a genetic algorithm. Furthermore, the effect of the normalization procedure is demonstrated.

Experimental and Mechanism Investigation on Boiling Heat Transfer Characteristics of Alumina/Water Nanofluid on a Cylindrical Tube

        Hao Zhang,Zeng-en Li,Shan Qing,Zhuangzhuang Jia,Jiarui Xu,Lin Ma,Sixian Wang,Aimin Zhang,Zhumei Luo 성균관대학교(자연과학캠퍼스) 성균나노과학기술원 2019 NANO Vol.14 No.10

Nucleate pool boiling heat transfer experiments have been conducted to nanofluids on a horizontal cylinder tube under atmospheric pressure. The nanofluids are prepared by dispersing Al2O3 nanoparticles into distilled water at concentrations of 0.001, 0.01, 0.1, 1 and 2 wt.% with or without sodium, 4-dodecylbenzenesulfonate (SDBS). The experimental results showed that: nanofluids at lower concentrations (0.001 wt.% to 1 wt.%) can obviously enhance the pool boiling heat transfer performance, but signs of deterioration can be observed at higher concentration (2 wt.%). The presence of SDBS can obviously enhance the pool boiling heat transfer performance, and with the presence of SDBS, a maximum enhancement ratio of BHTC of 69.88%, and a maximum decrease ratio of super heat of 41.12% can be found in Group NS5 and NS4, respectively. The tube diameter and wall thickness of heating surface are the influential factors for boiling heat transfer coefficient. Besides, we find that Rohsenow formula failed to predict the characteristics of nanofluids. The mechanism study shows that: the decrease of surface tension, which leads to the decrease of bubble departure diameter, and the presence of agglomerates in nanofluids are the reasons for the enhanced pool boiling heat transfer performance. At higher concentration, particle deposition will lead to the decrease of distribution density of the vaporization core, and as a result of that, the boiling heat transfer performance will deteriorate.

      • Expression of Connexin 43 and E-cadherin Protein and mRNA in Non-small Cell Lung Cancers in Chinese Patients

        Zhao, Jun-Qiang,Sun, Fang-Jie,Liu, Shan-Shan,Yang, Jun,Wu, Yu-Quan,Li, Gui-Shan,Chen, Qing-Yong,Wang, Jia-Xiang Asian Pacific Journal of Cancer Prevention 2013 Asian Pacific journal of cancer prevention Vol.14 No.2

Aim: Connexin 43 (Cx43) and E-cadherin are important biomarkers related with cancer. Their expression at protein and mRNA levels was here investigated in 50 primary lung carcinoma tissues and 20 samples of adjacent normal tissue of Chinese patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Methods: Protein and mRNA expression were evaluated by ABC immunohistochemistry and RT-PCR. Results: (1) The positive expression rates of Cx43 and E-cadherin protein were higher in the adjacent normal tissues than those in the primary lung carcinoma tissues; (2) the positive expression rates of Cx43 and E-cadherin protein decreased with NSCLC progression; (3) the expression of E-cadherin protein was not related with the pathological type of NSCLC; and (4) the relative quantity of the Cx43 or E-cadherin mRNA expression was correlated with the the histological type, clinical stage, cancer cell differentiation and the lymph node metastasis. Conclusion: The data suggested that the Cx43 and E-cadherin are reduced with NSCLC progression, and might be important biomarkers for judging the metastasis and prognosis.
