The time-zone of pollinating activity according to numbers of Apis mellifera hive released in the strawberry(Maehyang var.) houses was together from 9A.M. to 4P.M., and the peak times of pollinating activity were between 11A.M and 1P.M.. The effects on pollinating activity according to numbers of A .mellifera hive released in the strawberry houses were ordered 5bee combs(11,000heads), 4bee combs(8,800heads) and 3bee combs(6,600heads). The rate of workers lost in A. mellifera hives with 5bee combs and 4bee combs during the strawberry cultivating period were lower than that of 3bee combs. The rates of fruit set by pollinating activity according to numbers of A.mellifera hive released in the strawberry houses were same level with 99%. The fruit qualities; No. of seeds, sugar content and rate of normal fruit set were same level, but fruit weight was ordered 5bee combs in 16.9g, 4bee combs in 16.4g and 3bee combs in 15.6g. The rate of marketable fruit of 4bee combs and 5bee combs were 5% to 9% higher than that of 3bee combs, respectively.

The effects on pollinating activity relative to the comb number in the honeybee hive released at the strawberry houses were ordered 5bee combs(11,000heads), 4bee combs (8,800heads) and 3bee combs (6,600heads). The rate of workers lost in A. mellifera hives with 5bee combs and 4bee combs during the strawberry cultivating period were lower than that of 3bee combs. The rates of fruit set by pollinating activity relative to the comb number in the honeybee hive released at the strawberry houses were same level with over 98%. The fruit qualities; No. of seeds, sugar content and rate of normal fruit set were same level, but fruit weights were ordered 5bee combs in 37.2g, 4bee combs in 35.6g and 3bee combs in 32.6g. The marketing incomes of 4bee combs and 5bee combs were 9% to 13% higher than that of 3bee combs, respectively.

The effects on pollinating activity relative to the comb numbers in the honeybee hive released in the strawberry houses were ordered 5bee combs(11,000heads), 3bee combs(6,600heads) and 4bee combs(8,800heads). The rate of workers lost in A. mellifera hives with 5bee combs during the strawberry cultivating period were lower than those of 3bee combs and 4bee combs. Shape recovery stress of thermo-mechanically treated Ti-Ni and Ti-Ni-Cu shape memory alloys has been investigated by means of thermal cycling test under constant load and also and effect of thermo-mechanical treatment on transformation behaviour and transformation temperatures has been examined by means of electrical resistivity measurements, differential scanning calorimetry and X-ray diffraction. Transformation behaviour was not changed by thermo-mechanical treatments in Ti-Ni-Cu alloys, while it changed from B2(cubic)-B19'(monoclinic) to B2-R(rhombohedral)-B19' in the Ti-Ni alloy. Martensitic transformation start temperature increased silghtly by thermo-mechanical treatments in Ti-Ni-Cu alloys, while it decreased largely in the Ti-Ni alloy. Shape recovery stress of Ti-Ni-Cu alloys was larger than that of the Ti-Ni alloy. This was attributed to the fact that the maximum recoverable elongation of Ti-Ni-Cu alloys was larger than that of the Ti-Ni alloy. And also shape recovery stress depended of Cu-content. It increased from 290MPa to 400MPa with increasing Cu-content up to 5at%, and then decreased from 400MPa to 375MPa with increasing Cu-content from 5at% to 10at%.
Phytophthora Foot Rot of Deltoid Synurus Caused by Phytophthora cryptogea

Foot rot symptoms were repeatedly observed on plants of deltoid synurus (<i>Synurus deltoides</i>) growing in a field of the Wild Vegetable Research Institute located in Pyeongchang, Korea during disease surveys in July 2020 and June 2021. The symptoms appeared as wilting of the plant leaves, and the plant stems and petioles at or above the soil line turned dark and rotted. The incidence of diseased plants in the field was 5‒10%. Five isolates of <i>Phytophthora</i> sp. were obtained from lesions of the diseased plants and investigated for their morphological and molecular characteristics. All the isolates were identified as <i>Phytophthora cryptogea</i> based on the morphological and molecular characteristics. Three isolates of <i>P. cryptogea</i> were tested for pathogenicity on deltoid synurus plants using artificial inoculation. All the tested isolates caused foot rot symptoms on the inoculated plants. The symptoms were similar to those observed in plants from the field investigated. To our knowledge, this is the first report of <i>P. cryptogea</i> causing Phytophthora foot rot in deltoid synurus.
New approach to synthesis of carbon nanotubes

<P>Carbon nanotubes (CNTs) have been synthesized through chemical vapor deposition in argon gas atmosphere using Fe–2.5%Mo alloyed nanoparticles as a catalyst and H<SUB>2</SUB>/CH<SUB>4</SUB> gas mixture as a reaction gas. Fe–2.5 wt.%Mo alloyed nanoparticles with average diameter of 7, 20, 45 and 85 nm are prepared by the chemical vapor condensation process using the pyrolysis of iron pentacarbonyl (Fe(CO)<SUB>5</SUB>) and molybdenum hexacarbonyl (Mo(CO)<SUB>6</SUB>). The morphologies of the CNTs are controlled by adjusting the nanoparticle size, reaction gas ratio and reaction temperature. With decreasing nanoparticle size under the same experimental conditions, the degree of crystalline perfection increases gradually and the morphologies of the carbon nanotubes vary from multi wall carbon nanotubes to single wall carbon nanotubes. Also, the ratio of reaction gas has an effect on the morphology and the degree of crystallinity of CNTs. In this work, it is suggested that morphology, diameter and degree of crystallinity of CNTs could be controlled by adjusting the reaction gas ratio, reaction temperature and catalyst size.</P>
