<P><B>Purpose</B></P><P>Alteration of biomarker status after primary systemic therapy (PST) is occasionally found in breast cancer. This study was conducted to clarify the clinical implications of change of biomarker status in breast cancer patients treated with PST.</P><P><B>Materials and Methods</B></P><P>The pre-chemotherapeutic biopsy and post-chemotherapeutic resection specimens of 442 breast cancer patients who had residual disease after PST were included in this study. The association between changes of biomarker status after PST and clinicopathologic features of tumors, and survival of the patients, were analyzed.</P><P><B>Results</B></P><P>Estrogen receptor (ER), progesterone receptor (PR), and human epidermal growth factor receptor 2 (HER2) status changed after PST in 18 (4.1%), 80 (18.1%), and 15 (3.4%) patients,respectively. ER and PR mainly underwent positive to negative conversion,whereas HER2 status underwent negative to positive conversion. Negative conversion of ER and PR status after PST was associated with reduced disease-free survival. Moreover, a decline in the Allred score for PR in post-PST specimens was significantly associated with poor clinical outcome of the patients. HER2 change did not have prognostic significance. In multivariate analyses, negative PR status after PST was found to be an independent adverse prognostic factor in the whole patient group, in the adjuvant endocrine therapy-treated subgroup, and also in pre-PST PR positive subgroup.</P><P><B>Conclusion</B></P><P>ER and HER2 status changed little after PST, whereas PR status changed significantly. In particular, negative conversion of PR status was revealed as a poor prognostic indicator, suggesting that re-evaluation of basic biomarkers is mandatory in breast cancer after PST for proper management and prognostication of patients.</P>

Twospotted spider mite, Tetranychus urticae was collected from the rose greenhouse in Gimhae, Gyeongnam province in Jan, 2001. Resistant strain was reared over nine years treated with Acequinocyl (over 400 times), and increased 614 folds as compared to susceptible strain (S). Cross resistance of acequinocylresistant strain adults to eight acaricide was showed high in Cyflumetofen (108 folds) and expressed low in Abamectin (16 folds), Tebufenpyrad (7.6 folds), Fenpyroximate (6.1 folds). Against Chlorfenapyr (0.5 folds), however, showed negatively correlated cross resistance. Synergistic effects with PBO (piperonyl butoxide), an oxygenase inhibitor, DEF (S,S,S-tributyl phosphorotrithioate), an esterase inhibitor, and DEM (diethymaleate), an inhibitor of glutathion S-transferase were also investigated. Synergistic effect showed low in DEM (4.2 folds) but showed high in PBO (12 folds) and DEF (23 folds).
Evaluation on Microbial Contamination in Chinese Cabbage Cultivated Soil in Korea

The occurrence of various pathogenic microorganisms on farms is a concern if they are able to contaminate fresh produce, which provides entry into the food supply. This study was undertaken to assess the microbiological quality and prevalence of pathogens in Chinese cabbage cultivated soil in Korea. A total of 57 Chinese cabbage cultivated soils were collected in 4 locations in Korea from February to August 2017. The soils were analyzed for the presence of total aerobic bacteria, Escherichia coli, coliforms, Salmonella spp., Escherichia coli O157:H7, Listeria monocytogenes, and Staphylococcus aureus. The total aerobic plate counts in soils were in the range of 5.7 to 8.7 log CFU g<SUP>-1</SUP>. The coliforms and E. coli were detected in 39 and 8 out of 57 soil samples, respectively, in the range of 1.1 to 6.3 log CFU g<SUP>-1</SUP> and 0.7 to 4.0 log CFU g<SUP>-1</SUP>. Salmonella spp., E. coli O157:H7, L. monocytogenes, and S. aureus were not detected from any samples. Results from these studies may help control the spread of bacterial species such as E. coli and Salmonella spp. through the farm environment.

미세먼지는 단순한 환경 문제를 넘어 환경부 국가전략에 의해 추진되면서 정부는 2020년 미세먼지 를 최우선 과제로 선정했다. 배출원별 미세먼지 저감정책은 도시 위계에 따라 차등 시행됐다. 기존 미세먼지 관련 연구는 건강부터 사회 전반에 미치는 영향까지 전반적으로 이뤄졌다. 그러나 미세먼 지 배출원과 도시 위계에 따른 정책 요인의 동적 분석은 고려하지 않았다. 따라서 본 연구는 문헌검 토를 바탕으로 도시 규모별 시스템 다이내믹스를 활용해 미세먼지(PM10) 배출원의 인과적 루프를 도출하고자 한다. 이를 위해 1)기존 연구를 토대로 미세먼지 정책 변수 선정, 2)미세먼지 원인과 영향의 인과관계 조사, 3)미세먼지 발생의 동적 특성 파악, 4) 부문별 정책변수를 고려한 미세먼지 인과지도를 제시한다. 결과적으로 미세먼지 배출원은 인과관계 지도에서 사회경제적, 인구학적, 도시 공간적 변수와 관계를 가지며 도시별 미세먼지 저감정책의 차이에 따른 미세먼지 배출량 간의 영향관계를 확인할 수 있었다. Fine dust was designated as a social disaster with top priority, a complex environmental problem, by the Ministry of Environment, Korea. in 2020. Policies to reduce fine dust from emission sources were differently implemented by city size. Previous research related to fine dust has dealt with both its impacts on health and its impacts on society as a whole. But, the studies did not consider changes in fine dust control factors, and did not employ dynamic analysis of policy factors according to city size. Therefore, this study intended to draw a causal loop of fine dust (PM10) emissions and effects using System Dynamics by city size considering policies. To reach this goal, this study has designed following research procedure: 1) to select factors that identify fine dust emission sources and the effects; 2) to investigate causal relationships between the causes and effects of fine dust; and 3) to draw a causal map of fine dust in consideration of policy variables by sectors by city hierarchy. As a result, the sources of fine dust included socioeconomic, demographic, and urban spatial variables, and the impacts of fine dust emissions due to differences in fine dust reduction policies by city size were identified in the causal map.

Erosive pustular dermatosis of the scalp (EPDS) is a rare disorder of the elderly characterized by multiple pustular lesions with erosions and crusting that result in scarring alopecia. EPDS typically develops in aged or sun-damaged skin with a history of trauma. Histopathologically, EPDS is nonspecific, showing atrophic epidermis and chronic inflammation. Bacteriological and mycological investigations of EPDS are generally negative. Although herpes zoster is a common disorder in elderly people, previously reported cases of EPDS were rarely associated with herpes zoster. We present a rare case of EPDS following herpes zoster treated successfully with topical tacrolimus. (Ann Dermatol 22(2) 232~234, 2010)

Follicular mucinosis (FM) is an epithelial reaction pattern that is characterized by the accumulation of mucinous material in the epithelial hair follicle sheath and the sebaceous glands. Although various pharmacological agents have been employed in an attempt to treat FM, effective therapeutic options have remained elusive. We experienced a recalcitrant form of primary FM that we successfully treated with indomethacin and low-dose intralesional interferon alpha (IFN α), respectively. To the best of our knowledge, the primary type of FM that responded to indomethacin and low-dose IFN α, respectively, in a single case has not been reported in the English medical literature.
