Dependence of the discharge coefficient on the flow rate and the liquid viscosity for simplex swirl<br/> atomizers was re-examined and a brief experiment has been performed to confirm the trend. By<br/> arranging this relationship for several nozzle configurations, the discharge coefficient could be expressed<br/> successfully as a function of the swirl Reynolds number based on the tangential velocity at the swirl<br/> chamber inlet, the liquid viscosity and the effective swirl chamber radius.
