The purpose of this study was to investigate school children's monthly incidence rates and causes of accident. The number of studied subjects were 279 school children. The results were as follows: 1. Average monthly incidence rate of accident for male was 17.8 per 100 persons, and that of female was 12.7. That of the 6th grade was 32.7, and the 1st grade was 5.6, and March was the highest in incidence rate of studied months. 2. The accidents occured most frequently in the 6th grade and relatively low in the 1st grade. 3. The presence of parents, their occupation, and education and monthly income of household were not affected school children's accident. 4. Time required and distance from house to school were concerned to children's accident. Walking was relatively lower than other way in the way of transport from house to school. 5. The majority sites of injury were legs & arms. 6. Most of injured children treated at the medical institute.

Idiopathic spontaneous intraperitoneal hemorrhage is both rare and potentially fatal. The incidence of gastroepiploic artery rupture, especially a non-aneurysmal rupture, is extremely low. We report the case of an elderly woman who was mistakenly diagnosed with procedure-related bleeding after gastroscopy. A 0.3 cm polyp was identified and removed during the procedure. The patient later developed shock due to which gastroscopy was repeated; however, no unusual findings were observed. Therefore, abdominopelvic computerized tomography was performed and gastroepiploic artery rupture was detected. Transcatheter arterial embolization was immediately performed without laparotomy, without any complications. The bleeding was controlled, and the patient was discharged after embolization. It is important to acknowledge the possibility of spontaneous rupture of the visceral arteries in elderly individuals with hypertension or atherosclerosis, especially in the event of sudden abdominal pain or shock immediately after an endoscopic procedure. This is the first case report of idiopathic spontaneous rupture of the right gastroepiploic artery successfully managed by transcatheter arterial embolization in South Korea.

The appropriate porosity and pore size of barrier membranes were associated with the transportation of biomolecules required for new bone formation and angiogenesis. In this study, we fabricated three-dimensional (3D)-printed resorbable polycaprolactone (PCL) membranes with different porosities (30%, 50%, and 70%) to evaluate the effective pore size for guided bone regeneration (GBR) membranes. To analyze mechanical properties and cytocompatibility, PCL membranes prepared using extrusion-based 3D printing technology were compared in dry and wet conditions and tested in vitro. The proliferation rates and pattern of fibroblasts and preosteoblasts on PCL membranes with different porosities were determined using a cell counting kit-8 assay and scanning electron microscopy. PCL membrane porosity did not affect cell proliferation, but osteogenic differentiation and mechanical properties were increased with lower porosity (30%) on day 14 (p < 0.001). Similar results were found in an in vivo calvarial defect model; new bone formation was significantly higher in PCL membranes with lower porosity (p < 0.001). These results indicate that 3D-printed PCL with 30% porosity (130 mu m pore size) is an excellent pore size for GBR membranes.

This study was conducted to compare 3D-printed polycaprolactone (PCL) and polycaprolactone/β-tricalcium phosphate (PCL/β-TCP) membranes with a conventional commercial collagen membrane in terms of their abilities to facilitate guided bone regeneration (GBR). Fabricated membranes were tested for dry and wet mechanical properties. Fibroblasts and preosteoblasts were seeded into the membranes and rates and patterns of proliferation were analyzed using a kit-8 assay and by scanning electron microscopy. Osteogenic differentiation was verified by alizarin red S and alkaline phosphatase (ALP) staining. An in vivo experiment was performed using an alveolar bone defect beagle model, in which defects in three dogs were covered with different membranes. CT and histological analyses at eight weeks after surgery revealed that 3D-printed PCL/β-TCP membranes were more effective than 3D-printed PCL, and substantially better than conventional collagen membranes in terms of biocompatibility and bone regeneration and, thus, at facilitating GBR.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the healing capacity within an 8-mm rabbit calvarial defect using a polycaprolactone (PCL)/poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) scaffold blended with tri-calcium phosphate (TCP) that was constructed using solid freeform fabrication (SFF) technology. The PCL/PLGA/TCP scaffold showed a 37 % higher compressive strength and rougher surface than the PCL/PLGA scaffold. In animal experiments, new bone formation was analyzed using microcomputed tomography (micro-CT) and histological and histometric analyses. The PCL/PLGA/TCP groups had significantly greater neo-tissue areas as compared with the control groups at 4 and 8 weeks (P < 0.05). The PCL/PLGA/TCP group had significantly greater bone density as compared with the control and PCL/PLGA groups at 4 and 8 weeks (P < 0.005). The results of this study suggest that the PCL/PLGA/TCP scaffold fabricated using SFF technology is useful for recovering and enhancing new bone formation in bony defects in rabbits.

For application in a ferroelectric random access memory, capacitors with structures of Pt/(Bi, La)Ti3O12 (BLT)/Pt and Pt/BLT/Y2O3 lm layers on Si(100) substrates were prepared by the solgel method, and BLT FET devices were fabricated by using Y2O3 as buer layer. A Pt/BLT/Pt/Si capacitor showed no critical degradation in polarization values after retention read pulses input for 105:5 s. The capacitance-voltage data of the Pt/BLT/Y2O3/Si capacitors at input voltage of 5 V indicate that the memory window voltage decreased from 1.4 V to 0.6 V with increasing annealing temperature from 700 C to 750 C. From the drain current as a function of gate voltage (VG) for Pt/BLT/Y2O3/Si(100)-FET devices, the memory window voltage increased from 0.3 V to 0.8 V as VG increased from 3 V to 5 V.
