Estimating Mobile-Friendliness Scores of Web Pages

<P>Mobile devices such as cell phones and personal digital assistants (PDAs) are becoming increasingly popular tools to access the Internet. Unfortunately, the experience of users attempting to access web pages with these mobile devices has been less than satisfactory because of their small display areas, slow communications links and low computing power. In this paper, we propose a trained scorer to estimate the mobile-friendliness scores of web pages, providing an indication of their suitability for mobile devices. These scores help mobile-friendly pages receive higher ranks in search results when mobile users seek information on the web. Our experiments show that the search results re-ranked by our mobile-friendliness scores increase mobile user satisfaction.</P>
Endothelial nitric oxide synthase gene polymorphisms and the risk of silent brain infarction.

<P>Silent brain infarction (SBI), a unique cerebrovascular disorder, is frequently detected on magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) of apparently healthy elderly persons, and it is known to increase the risk of stroke and other related diseases. Although detailed mechanisms of SBI pathogenesis have yet to be determined, recent studies suggest that SBI is significantly influenced by genetic factors. In this study, we investigated polymorphisms in the endothelial nitric oxide synthase (eNOS) gene (i.e., -786T>C, 4a4b and 894G>T) as possible risk factors for SBI. We enrolled 269 patients with SBI and 234 control subjects and examined their fasting plasma homocysteine and folate levels, and analyzed for eNOS polymorphisms and haplotypes. The prevalence of SBI was shown to be significantly higher in patients with the eNOS 894GT genotype (OR, 2.00; 95% CI, 1.30-3.08) and 894GT+TT genotype (OR, 2.05; 95% CI, 1.34-3.16), compared with the 894GG genotype. However, in the case of -786T>C and 4a4b polymorphisms, no significant difference was observed between SBI patients and normal subjects. Interestingly, we found that the prevalence of SBI can increase twice as high when either -786T>C or 4a4b polymorphism was combined with 894G>T polymorphism, -786TC+CC/894GT+TT (OR, 3.83; 95% CI, 1.24-11.80) and 4a4b+4a4a/894GT+TT (OR, 4.08; 95% CI, 1.34-12.40), respectively. According to haplotype analysis, we found that three haplotypes (-786T-4b-894G, -786T-4b-894T and -786C-4a-894T) were shown to be significantly different between SBI patients and control subjects. These results indicate that eNOS polymorphisms and haplotypes serve as risk factors for SBI, and three different polymorphic loci in the eNOS gene play interactively, thereby leading to synergistic effects for the generation of SBI.</P>
The Analysis of Students` Attitude Toward the Levels of PAPS and Gender in Physical Education

Purpose: The aim of this study is to determine the students`` attitude toward the levels of PAPS(Phisycal Activity Promotion System) and Gender in Physical Education(PE). It used the results of PAPS and the Korean Physical Education attitude scales invented by Kim Jong hwan(2004). PAPS results were divided in 5 levels (1 to 5) but this study used 2 groups - the best group(Lv.1 and 2) and the concerned group( Lv.4 and 5). Method: This research examined and collected data from the students who go to middle schools in J city, Jeollabuk-do area. Amid those, a comprehensive survey was implemented on 180 students in 3 middle schools. 180 copies of the questionnaire distributed and were returned. And among them, 15 copies were cut out for its insincere answers and 45 copies were answered by 3rd level students. The final 120 copies were exploited for analysis in depth. The survey consisted of 26 questions on Student characteristics(2) and Attitude in PE(24). The questions on attitude in PE included 6 factors - ``positive emotion``(4), ``negative emotion``(4), ``health and fitness``(4), ``physical activity and movement``(4), ``interpersonal relationship``(4) and ``active participation and performance``(4) - and used 5 point Likert scale. Result: 1. Differences of the students`` attitude toward the PAPS level in PE The survey showed that the students of the best group(lv.1 & 2) were higher in 5 factors - Positive emotion, Health and fitness, Physical activity and movement, Interpersonal relationship and Active participation and performance - than the concerned group(lv.4 & 5), while in negative emotion they weren``t. It meant that the lower the physical level, the more negative attitude in PE. It was considered that the result was closely related to psychological factors which students had been having in experiences with classmates and teachers in PE. 2. Differences of the students`` attitude toward Gender in PE There was a significant difference in the students`` attitude toward Gender in PE. The male students were higher than the female students in the 4 factors - Positive emotion, Health and fitness, Physical activity and movement, and Active participation and performance - and in Negative emotion factor the female students were higher. But gender difference was not significant in Interpersonal relationship factor. Conclusion: √ The students`` attitude differences regarding the PAPS level were significant in all of attitude factors in PE - Positive emotion, Negative emotion, Health and fitness, Physical activity and movement, Interpersonal relationship, Active participation and performance. The result of this study support that the physical development through physical activities is good to foster positive emotion and better attitude within PE. √ The differences of the students`` attitude in PE by Gender were meaningful in these factors except Interpersonal relationship - Positive emotion, Negative emotion, Health and fitness, Physical activity and movement, Active participation and performance. The result that the boys have more positive attitude than the girls in PE is seem to be affected by intimacy of the boys for PE. Thus we should find various ways to make the girls become intimate with physical activities by creating special PE programs and equipments.
Design of silicon-on-nothing structure based on multi-physics analysis

The formation of silicon-on-nothing (SON) structure during an annealing process from the silicon substrate including the trench structures has been considered as an effective technique to construct the structure that has an empty space under the closed flat surface. Previous studies have demonstrated the mechanism of the formation of SON structure, which is based on the surface diffusion driven by the minimization of their surface energy. Also, it has been fragmentarily shown that the morphology of SON structure can be affected by the initial design of trench (e.g., size, number) and the annealing conditions (e.g., temperature, pressure). Based on the previous studies, here, we report a comprehensive study for the design of the cavity-embedded structure (i.e., SON structure). To do this, a dynamic model has been developed with the phase field approach. The simulation results represent that the morphology of SON structures could be detailedly designed, for example the position and thickness of cavity, the thickness of top and bottom layer, according to the design parameters. This study will give us an advantage in the effective design of SON structures.
Development of a three-dimensional dynamic model for chemotaxis

In this study, we proposed a three-dimensional dynamic model under the diffuse interface description for the single crawling cell. From the developed model, we described the clear evolution processes for crawling neutrophil and assessed the reliable quantitative chemotactic property, which confirmed the high possibility of adequate predictions. To establish the system considering of multiple mechanisms such as, diffusion, chemotaxis, and interaction with surface, a diffuse interface model is employed.

The interaction between the cell and the substrate is the most prominent feature on the migration of crawling cell. This paper proposes a three-dimensional dynamic model under the diffuse interface description to reveal an effect of interaction between the single crawling cell and the substrate during chemotactic migration, which confirms the high possibility of adequate predictions. To illustrate the effects of interaction between the cell and the substrate, we consider the interfacial energy related with the coexistent material. Multiple mechanisms including interface energy, chemotaxis effect and diffusion are addressed by employing a diffuse interface model.
