With the advance in industrial development and modern living comfort, the demand for electricity throughout the country is ever increasing. Also the annual consumption of coal by coal-fired power plants is increasing. The amount of ash produced in 2000 is estimated to be about 4.5 million tons. The disposal of this huge amount of ash introduces serious environmental problems. Fly ash among the ash produced is used in building industries as a substitute to cement in concrete and the concrete thus produced is said to be lighter and stronger. But bottom ash among the ash produced is not used because of its poor properties. But encouraging the use of bottom ash as a construction material is a sensible method of utilization as it avoids the problems and costs associated with disposal and provides an alternative aggregate source. This study is aimed at using bottom ash as an alternative fine aggregate source to provide a solution to disposal and insufficient fine aggregate for the production of concrete. So properties of bottom ash produced in power plants were estimated due to the difference of bottom ash produced in each plant. And mortar strength was estimated as basic data to use bottom ash in building industries.
Synthesis and Photoreaction of Allylsilanes

The syntheses and photoreaction of various phenyl and naphthyl allylsilanes have been studied. The syntheses of allylsilanes are carried out using the methods of Wittig reaction. The allylsilanes are produced very efficiently. The products of photoreactions of allylsilancs arc determined by HPLC technique. The structure of the photoproducts, however, can not be determined clearly until now because of the very low chemical yields.

In this paper, the optimal homing guidance problem is investigated for the general missile/target models described in the state-space. The closed-form solution of the optimal guidance law is derived, and its asymptotic properties are studied as the time-to-go goes to infinity or zero. Futhermore, several approximate solutions of the optimal guidance law are suggested for real-time applications.
화재로 인해 성능저하된 콘크리트의 물성변화에 관한 실험적 연구

In this study, normal and high strength concrete were made according to kinds of aggregate, admixture and water-binder ratio, and than exposed to a high temperature environment on the assumption that species were fired separately for 30 and 60 minutes with Standard Time-Temperature Curve. And fundamental data for the character change of concrete heated highly were presented by measuring characters of explosive spalling, ultrasonic pulse velocity and compressive strength before and after heating, after 1 and 3 months. It is intended to present data for the exact diagnosis, repair and reinforcement system of the deteriorated concrete heated highly.

As a part of efforts to obtain high quality and economical efficiency of concrete, blast-furnace slag has been utilized by means of cement replacement. Therefore superior performance can be ensured, environmental pollution can be prevented and economical advantage can be obtained with utilization by cement replacement. But the studies on the blast-furnace slag are not systematic and reasonable. So, it was planed that basic data in regard to technique of manufacturing and economic improvement of concrete is showed with experimental comparison and investigation of engineering properties of concrete utilizing blast-furnace, industry by-product, as cement replacement in this study.

Cytomegalovirus (CMV), a member of the human herpesvirus group, causes severe disease in immunocompromised patients. In particular, CMV pneumonia can be a life-threatening disease to patients taking immunosuppressive drugs. The radiographic manifestations of CMV are variable and may consist of reticular or reticulonodular patterns, ground-glass opacities, air-space consolidations, or mixed patterns. A cavitary lesion in pneumonia associated with CMV infection is extremely rare. Herein we report on a case of CMV pneumonia which presented with a cavitary lesion and was treated successfully in a systemic lupus erythematosus patient who was taking immunosuppressive drugs.
