The polymorphism of rye chromosomes studied by using a special graphic method based on the arm-ratio and length of the mitotic chromosomes. The chromosome complement of rye was consisted of 1 pair of satellite chromosome, 2 pair of median, 2 pairs of submedian, 1 pair of submedian-subterminal, and 1 pair of subterminal chromosomes. The polymorphic differences in length were more prevalent than in arm-ration. Significant differences in polymorphism were found in chromosome Ⅰand VⅡ, chromosome Ⅵ seemed to be the most stable among rye chromosomes.

Seed proteins of seven Sesame varieties were investigated with Sodiumdodesylsulfate-Polyacrylamide Gel Electrophoresis. Bands patterns of seed proteins showed more quantitative than qualitative differences. Characteristic bands were appeared in proteins of rapid running group. These results are available in classification of Sesame varieties.

Pinus densifiora의 體細胞 染色體數는 2n = 24이며 모든 染色體가 metacentric type이었다. Total length는 22.4∼13.6 μ이고 5雙의 染色體가 2次狹窄을 가지고 있었다. 2次狹窄을 가진 染色體는 같은 소나무屬內의 다른 種과 差異를 나타내었다. Pinus densiflora의 核型은 다음과 같이 表示된다. K=(2n=24)=2A^(m)+2B^(m)+2C^(m)+2D^(m) +2E^(m)+2F^(m)+2G^(m)+2(S)H^(m)+2_(S)I^(m) +2_(S)J^(m)+2_(S)K^(m)+2_(S)L^(m) The somatic chromosome number of Pinus densiflora was 2n=24. All chromosome pairs were metacentrie type with the range of total length from 22.4 to 13.6μ. Five pairs of chromosomes had the secondary constriction. The karyotype shows that the chromosome morphology of SAT-chromosome pairs in P. densiflora is different from other species in Pinus. The transmission of B chromosomes in PALDANG rve(Secale cereale L.) was investigated. In the progeny of the cross in population of Bs plants average number of B chromosome per plant increased 2 to 2.5 in first generation. In the progeny of 2Bs×2Bs, the B chromosome number per plant was found to be 2.1 and in the case of the crosses between 4Bs( ♀) and 2Bs (♂), it appeared 3.5, 3.1 and 3.2 respectively.

Cytogenetic analyses were done in thirteen natural populations of Scilla scilloides complex collected from Chejudo. Six genotypes, BB (2n=18), ABB (2n=26), AABB (2n=34), ABBB (2n=35), AABBB (2n=43) and AAABBB (2n=51) were observed, where A and B denote genomes with χ=8 and χ=9, respectively. Genotypes BB, ABB and AAABBB were found for the first time in Chejudo populations. Genotypes BB and ABB were never reported from the Korean populations. Six of the populations investigated were mixed populations of two or three cytogenetic types, and others were pure populations consisting of BB (1), AABB (4) and AABBB (2). AABB genotypes were predominant over other genotypes and AABBB was the next. AA genotypes growing in the mainland of Korea was not found. It was suggested that the Chejudo populations of S. scilloides complex were closely related to the Japanese populations than mainland populations of Korea. The number of B-chromosome ranged from one to four. The B-chromosomes were all isochromosomes (F) and no chromosome fragment (f) was found. The frequencies of B-chromosome were 75% in BB and AABBB genotypes, respectively. The frequency of B-chromosome in AABB plants was similar to that of AABB plants reported in the mainland populations.

A karyotype of cytotype BB plant in Scilla Complex was established and the frequency of B-chromosomes were investigated. Chromosome complements of BB genome were composed of five pairs of subtelocentric and four pairs of metacentric chromosomes. Chromosome 1 has satellite with nucleolar organizer. Polymorphism was found in chromosome 2. The karyotype of cytotype BB will be available for analysis of genome composition in various cytotypes of S. scilloides Complex. The frequency of B-chromosome was 78.6%. Numbers of B-chromosome ranged from 1 to 4 and plants with 2B-chromosomes were predominant (57.2%). Two types of B-chromosomes, F and F', were found; F is a large iso-chromosome and F' a small one.

Esterase isozymes (EST) in endosperm, root and shoot of rye seedlings were determined using polyacrylamide gel electrophoresis and the effect of B-chromosomes (Bs) on EST zymogram phenotypes was studied. The number and staining intensity of EST bands vary depending on the tissues applied. EST-A is present in all the tissues of the rye seedlings, where as EST-B is revealed as the coleoptile-specific esterase. EST-C exhibits a two-banded phenotype. EST-D showed different band patterns among tissues. In leaf EST patterns of rye with Bs and without Bs, EST-D showed difference in pattern wtith the presence of Bs. Individuals without Bs have two specific EST bands, whereas plants with 2Bs and 4Bs have three and four specific EST bands respectively. The results reported in this paper lend evidence for the genetic effect of Bs on EST patterns in rye.

Karyotype of Hemerocallis fulva var. kwanso was investigated. The somatic metaphase chromosome number was 2n=3x=33. The chromosome complement was composed of seven pairs of metacentrics, two pairs of submetacentrics, and two pairs of subtelocentrics. The karyotype formula was K=2n=33=3A^(m) + 3B^(m) + 3C^(m) + 3D^(sm) + 3E^(m) + 3F^(m) + 3G^(m) + 3H^(sm) + 3I^(st) + 3J^(st) + 3K^(m).

Pollen morphology of Lilium 1ancifolium L. leichtlinii var, tigrinum and L, distichum was examined by the light microscopy in conjunction differences of pollen Character in Kwangnung, The pollen character of three species was similar except the grain size, The average polar axis and equatrial axis of L,lancifolium showed the highest values among three species and L.distichum was lowest. The differences of them in three species were significant judging from the F-test (p<0.05). And the differences in size of pollen grain in three species were significant (P<0.05). It was possible for grain size to classify the pollen of species of Lilium.
