디젤 엔진의 진동 신호를 이용한 연소음 크기에 관한 연구

지구 온난화로 인한 CO₂ 규제 및 유가상승으로 인해 승용 디젤엔진에 대한 수요가 증가하고 있다. 하지만 SI 엔진에 비하여 크게 발생되는 진동과 소음은 NVH 측면에서 상품성을 저하시키는 가장 큰 원인이다. 엔진의 소음은 크게 기계적인 충격에 의한 소음과 실린더 내 연소로 인해 발생하는 소음으로 구분되며, 이중연소에 의해 발생하는 소음을 연소음이라한다. 디젤엔진의 경우 높은 압축비와 자발화 연소 특성으로 인한 급격한 압력상승이 실린더 블록을 가진시키며, 실린더 블록표면의 진동이 공기중으로 방사됨으로써 연소음이 발생하게 된다. 이에 본 연구에서는 디젤엔진의 연소인자와 연소음간의 상관 관계를 연구하기에 앞서 실린더 블록표면의 진동과 연소음간의 상관관계에 대하여 살펴보았다. 실린더 블록의 진동은 가속도계를 이용하여 측정하였으며, 연소음은 무향실에서 측정되었다. RPM, BMEP, 주 분사시기 및 분사 압력등을 변화시켜가면서 다양한 운전조건에서 연소음과 블록벽면의 진동을 측정하였다. 그 결과 연소음의 크기는 블록진동의 최댓값의 크기와 시간에 대한 적분값과 비례하였으며, 이를 바탕으로 진동신호와 연소음의 상관관계를 찾았다.

This study theoretically explores the impact of the modularity and virtualization of IT architecture on a firm's ability to learn through exploration and exploitation. Drawing on prior research on modularity, virtualization, organizational learning, and IT governance, we develop a theoretical framework that suggests the modularity and virtualization of IT architecture fosters explorative and exploitative learning. We further propose that the effects of modularity and virtualization are moderated by IT governance factors such as the locus of IT control and the ownership of IT resources.

This essay analyzes Adrienne Kennedy’s A Lesson in Dead Language focusing on women’s embodied experience of bleeding as dramatized in the play. While other scholars of Kennedy have interpreted the blood stains on the girl pupils’ dresses as a sign of "internalized guilt", I argue that it is the very notion that Kennedy attempts to thwart. By intentionally juxtaposing ambiguous narratives, Kennedy discloses the arbitrariness of the narrative of guilt, demanding the audience to rethink the meaning of bleeding. Using narrative theory, and Julia Kristeva’s and Hélène Cixous’ feminist approaches to language and discourse, I analyze the White’s Dog’s and the girl pupils’ narrative attempts to give meaning to the phenomenon of bleeding. I observe that while the White Dog tries to construct a narrative of bleeding as a sign of guilt and punishment, the girls attempt to subvert it and to create alternative contexts from which to read the meaning of bleeding on their own terms. I argue that the blood stains on the girls’ organdy dresses are a powerful manifestation of their resistance to the institutional enforcement of the meaning of women’s bodily experiences. Kennedy’s remarkable dramaturgic skill is demonstrated as she deconstructs the dominant narrative of women’s bleeding without attempting to define and fix any other meaning in its place. Instead she acknowledges the embodied experience itself and leaves it unnamed, thus allowing for ongoing production of meaning.

<P>Inhalable glycol chitosan-coated poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) nanoparticles containing palmitic acid-modified exendin-4 (Pal-Ex4) (chitosan Pal-Ex4 PLGA NPs) were prepared and characterized. The surface morphology, particle size, and zeta potential of chitosan Pal-Ex4 PLGA NPs were investigated, and the adsorption and cytotoxicity of chitosan Pal-Ex4 PLGA NPs were evaluated in human lung epithelial cells (A549). Finally, the lung deposition characteristics and hypoglycemia caused by chitosan Pal-Ex4 PLGA NPs were evaluated after pulmonary administration in imprinting control region (ICR) and type 2 diabetic db/db mice. Results showed that chitosan Pal-Ex4 PLGA NPs were spherical, compact and had a diameter of ~700 nm and a positive surface charge of +28.5 mV Chitosan-coated PLGA NPs were adsorbed onto A549 cells much more so than non-coated PLGA NPs. Pal-Ex4 release from chitosan-coated PLGA NPs was delayed by as much as 1.5 days as compared with chitosan-coated Ex4 PLGA NPs. In addition, chitosan-coated PLGA NPs remained in the lungs for ~72 hours after pulmonary administration, whereas most non-coated PLGA NPs were lost at 8 hours after administration. Furthermore, the hypoglycemic efficacy of inhaled chitosan Pal-Ex4 PLGA NPs was 3.1-fold greater than that of chitosan Ex4 PLGA NPs in db/db mice. The authors believe chitosan Pal-Ex4 PLGA NPs have considerable potential as a long-acting inhalation delivery system for the treatment of type 2 diabetes.</P>

During the 1970s and the 80s, the representation of Asian Americans in theatre and popular TV dramas in the U.S. was limited to certain stereotypes. Frank Chin and David Henry Hwang were the representative Asian American playwrights during this period, who attempted to overturn the stereotypical representation of Asian Americans and to create new identities for them. This essay examines the racial stereotypes of Asian Americans and the racist practices on the U.S. stage as evidenced in the newspaper articles during this period and analyzes the political and cultural systems in the U.S. which forged and authorized the stereotypes. Against this background information, this paper focuses on the dramaturgy of the two playwrights as their means to criticize the racism in the U.S. and to explore the possibilities to thwart the existent stereotypes and create new alternative identities for Asian Americans. Frank Chin, in his Chickencoop Chinaman and The Year of the Dragon, radically departs from the stereotypes familiar to and, therefore, expected by the audience, leaving them uncomfortable and confused as a result. In contrast, David Henry Hwang, in F.O.B. and Dance and the Railroad, actively deploys the familiar stereotypes, yet questions their validity at the same time mainly through humor and empathy. Furthermore, due to the ways Hwang places his familiar yet new Asian (American) characters in stable plot structures and familiar narrative genres, his plays were favorably received by the audience at the time. However, the way in which the success of his plays and the attention paid to the main actor in the two shows, John Lone, were made into a model minority success story and therefore turned into another stereotypical representation of Asian American in the mass media exemplifies how difficult it is to break the stereotypical assumptions the white majority has of the racial others in the U.S.; how hard it is to overturn the cultural hegemony of the white majority.
Cytolytic Activities of Taxol on Neural Stem Cells

Stem cells have been the subject of increasing scientific interest because of their utility in numerous biomedical applications. Stem cells are capable of renewing themselves; that is, they can be continuously cultured in an undifferentiated state, giving rise to more specialized cells of the human body. Therefore, stem cells are an important new tools for developing unique, in vitro model systems to test drugs and chemicals and a potential to predict or anticipate toxicity in humans. In the present study, in vitro cultured F3 immortalized human neural stem cell line and in vivo adult Sprague Dawley rats was used to evaluate the cytotoxicity of anticancer drug paclitaxel. In vitro apoptotic activity of paclitaxel was evaluated in F3 cell line by a MTT assay and DAPI test. The cell death was induced with the treatment of 20 nM paclitaxel and chromatin degradation was detected by DAPI staining, which was analyzed by fluorescent microscope. In vivo studies, we also observed nestin immunoreactivity on subventricular zone, which is stem cell rich region in the adult brain of the SD rat. Immunofluorescent staining result shows that pixel intensities of nestin were decreased in a dose dependent manner. These results suggest that paclitaxel is able to induce cytotoxic activity both in F3 neural stem cell line and neural stem cell in SD rat brain.
