        Speaking Stella and Silent Astrophil : An Unstable Gender Paradigm in Astrophil and Stella

        The first English sonnet sequence, Astrophil and Stella (1591) by Philip Sidney (1554-1586), has been traditionally considered to embody a powerful sense of subjective presence and philosophical trappings in relations to love and desire. Traditional literary criticism has long been preoccupied with the poet as a desiring subject in the Renaissance love lyrics while the beloved lady is passively and silently represented by a male voice. In her traditional idealization, bordering at times on idolatry, the beloved lady is in fact reduced to silence, which was the most virtuous ideal of feminine decorum in Elizabethan period. In search of the previously hidden or overlooked female voices, this study aims to reexamine the typically gendered paradigm in Sidney's sonnet sequence between a silent female beloved lady and a speaking male poet-lover. Although the Petrarchan mistress is sometimes silenced, in some significant cases she is not. Not only does Stella speak, but the power and significance of her speech are also found at several points in the sequence. It is notable that Stella's voice is represented equal to Astrophil's own. Being a proxy for the representation of the male poet-lover's self, and therefore assigned a silent and iconic function, she occasionally plays an active role, while the male poet is passive and silent. In front of Stella's authoritative and virtuous speech, Astrophil is presented helpless, passive and silent. Though the Eighth song offers Stella's most frank and first person description of her desire for Astrophil, she denies Astrophil. Facing her refusal, Astrophil turns to looking inward in his dark, private and silent state. The last sonnet is overtly artificial and conventional with its Petrarchan metaphors and sentiments and reveals a sense of inability: confined within a convention and unable to say anything else. Stella is enforced to silence but on occasion she repels Astrophil in her speaking in contrast with a passive, helpless and most of all silent Astrophil.

        Purpose: The purpose of this descriptive study was conducted to investigate the health condition and satisfaction for health examination of students in elementary school. Method: The subjects for this study were 113 students, from an elementary school in W, Kyung-Buk Province. The health condition and satisfaction Questionnaire made by Kyung-Buk Education Office(2007) and modified by authors of this study were used to measure health condition and satisfaction. The data were collected from Dec. 21 to Dec. 13, 2009 using questionnaire with self reported and records of the school health. Data was analysed by x 2-test, independent t-test and ANOVA with SPSS WIN 17.0. Result: There were no statistically significant differences in the reported satisfaction scores of elementary school children regarding health examinations either by gender (male: 40.13 ± 3.90, female: 39.95 ± 4.50)or economic conditions (low: 41.00 ± 2.3, upper: 40.53 ± 4.9, middle: 39.66 ± 4.1). Conclusion: The findings in this study did not support differences in satisfaction scores either by gender or level of income relative to health examination. Future research may utilize a qualitative approach to explore differences among school.

        Abstract - In this thesis, we propose a QoS supporting method on wireless ad hoc-based active network for improving reliability. On the loss of route path, the existing DSR routing protocol has several problems with wireless network communication because of decease of data reception rate and increase of network load. The proposed method improves reliability of data transfer by using functions of active network. That is, by using functions of active nodes and active packets, the proposed method supports QoS with reservation transfer method that saves data packets on transfer at intermediate nodes with lost path and then re-transmit the packets after route reconfiguration.

        본 연구는 분말상 원료(전분, 대두분)의 저장유통시 품질변화를 건전성과 안전성 측면에서 검토하여 식품의 기준 ·규격 설정f.」 합지적으로 반영하고자 하였다. 전분과 패두분의 이물을 검사하고, 2종 대두분(중국산, 미국산)을 ?0일간 IS'c와 30t에 저장하면서 성상, 수분, 산가, 과산화물가, 지방산 조성,아플라톡신 BB의 생성여부를 분석하였다. 중국산 대두분 30'』 저장군에서 50일 이후 곰팡이가 발생한 것 이외에 모든 시료에서 양호한 성상을 나타내었고, 전분과 대두닥 모든 시료에서 이물은 검출되지 않았다. 산가는 중국산과 미국산 시료간에 편차를 보여 증국산 30"C, 50일 저장시료에서 약 10배끙도 증가하였고, 과산화물가는 저장 90일후 15'E 저장군은 약 2.3배, 30'c 저장군은 3배정도 증가하였다. 대두분의 주요 지방산은 linoleic acidf18. 2), oleic acid(18 : 1), palmitic acid(16 : 0)이었으며, 3개월 저장에 따른 지방산 함량의 변화는 미미하였다. 아플라톡신 B₁은 모든 시료에서 검출되지 않았다. The objective of this study was to investigate auality changes of type raw materials(starch, soy flour) during various storage conditions. Starchflour(source of China, U.S.A) were slfred under two temperature(15'C, 30'c) forSensory evaluation, (o.reign material test, moisture content, acid value, peroxide ualue,composition, aflatorin Bi were analyzed. China soy flour(stor·ed 30'f) was contaminated by fungj on 50 days. Except for soy flour contardnated by fungi, sensory characteristics were not changed and foreign mater;als were notdetected. Acid value of China soy flour(stored at 30'C, 90 days) was about 10 times higherlevel before storage and acid value was more influenced by source(China, USA). Peroxide valuewas in proportion with the storage period slightly. The major fatty acid of soy flour waslinoleic acid(18 . 2), an(3 the change of fatty acid composition was not observed. Aflatoxlrl Blwas not detected.

      • MANET 라우팅 프로토콜 QoS 지원서비스의 성능평가에 관한 연구

        In this paper, we evaluated two main QoS supporting routing protocol on wireless ad hoc network. At presence, wireless mobile communication focuses on how to efficiently support mobility of users more than QoS guarantee. However, in order to satisfy requirement of various applications which have been or will be served, QoS support service between source and destination becoming a very important issue. Of all routing protocols, DSR and AODV are very important routing protocol in MANET. So we simulated DSR and AODV QoS Routing Protocol Through simulation evaluation tool NS(Network Simulation) based on various environments.

        Abstract - In this paper, we propose a bidirectional mobile Ad Hoc routing protocol based on AODV(ad-hoc on-demand distance victor routing) with QoS(quality of service) support. At presence, wireless mobile communication focuses on how to efficiently support mobility of users more than QoS guarantee. However, in order to satisfy requirement of various applications which have been or will be served, QoS guarantee between end point is a very important issue. The existing AODV routing protocol is implemented to use only BE (Best Effort) service. However, actual wireless mobile environment requires to reduce a waste of communication resources and meet with the real-time change of data paths by setting up routes with QoS support, considering available communication resources at each node in advance. Therefore, in this thesis, we propose an adaptive QoS support method using hello message in order to rapidly meet with the change of available communication resources and to smoothly perform route maintenance. For performance evaluation, we analyzed the average date reception rate. At that time, we used evaluation parameters such as node's mobility -stop time, hello message period, and packet priority, considering the node's mobility and the number of best effort/QoS data flows. As results, we found that with our proposed method the average data reception rate was increased 16.3% for 0 mobility-stop second case and 4.7% for 300 mobility-stop second case.

      • 체성분이 폐경 전후 여성의 골밀도에 미치는 여향

        Objectives : To evaluate the degree of bone mineral density and prevalence rate of osteoporosis according to age and to search the preventive strategy for osteoporosis, the factors that affect on bone density were studied in Physical Characteristics of pre- and postmenopausal women in korea. Methods : The subjects were 961 premenopausal and 1,167 postmenopausal women who have examined in health promotion center of Yeungnam University Hospital in Daegu city from January, 1999 to January, 2001. The test for bone mineral density, biochemical factors, and body composition were done. Results : 1) The prevalence rates of reduced bone mineral density and osteoporosis in premenopausal women were 23.8% and 1.6%, respectively. However, these values were increased to 46.1% and 28.1% in postmenopausal women. 2) The body weight and height were important predictive factors for bone mineral density. The effects of age, body weight, and height on bone mineral density were 39%. The body weight was correlated statistically significantly with bone mineral density in pre- and postmenopausal women. The higher body mass index (BMI), the greater value of bone mineral density was revealed in pre- and postmenopausal women. 3) The correlation between body composition adjusted for body weight and bone mineral density revealed similar pattern between pre- and postmenopausal women. The height, lean body mass, muscle mass, mineral content, and mineral fraction were positively correlated with bone mineral density, however, body fat mass, percent body fat, waist/hip ratio, and BMI were correlated negatively with bone mineral density. 4) There was no direct correlation between cardiovascular risk factor and bone mineral density in this study, however, further study is needed because cardiovascular disease and osteoporosis have common risk factor and the prevention of osteoporosis can help to prevent cardiovascular disease. 5) In multiple regression analysis among bone mineral density as a dependent variable and independent variables (age, body weight, height, Ca/creatinine ratio, and alkaline phosphatase (ALP)), ALP revealed statistically significant inverse correlation with bone mineral density. Conclusions : These results suggested that to prevent osteoporosis, the systemized program including physical condition for promoting anti-osteoporotic factor have to be developed and apply from the thirties whom have maximal bone mineral density.

      • 牧丹皮 玄胡索이 姙娠에 미치는 影響

        It is acknowledged that Moutan cortex radicis and Corydalis tuber are contraindicated drugs of pregnancy. The present work was done to investigate the influences of Moutan cortex radicis and Corydalis tuber on pregnancy. The extracted and condenced liquid of Moutan cortex radicis and Corydalis tuber were administered to experimental animals and the influences were evaluated on pregnant maintenance, corpus lutein functions and toxic action of kidney and liver during pregnancy. The results of this work were summerized as follows: 1. For white pregnant rats, Moutan cortex radicis showed insignificant decrease of the fertilized eggs while Corydalis tuber showed insignificant increase of the fertilized eggs as the pregnant days pass by. 2. For false pregnant rabbits, Moutan cortex radicis and Corydalis tuber showed significant decrease of HCG. 3. For white pregnant rats, Moutan cortex radicis and Corydalis tuber showed insignificant decrease of GOT, GPT and ALP levels. 4. In serum of white pregnant rats, Moutan cortex radicis showed significant decrease of BUN level while Corydalis tuber showed insignificant increase. 5. In serum of white pregnant rats, Corydalis tuber showed increase of creatinine level while Moutan cortex radicis did not show changement. 6. Moutan cortex radicis and Corydalis tuber showed insignificant increase of serum uric acid and uric protein levels of white pregnant rats.

      • 유한요소법을 이용한 기둥형 로드셀의 비선형성 평가

        Recently, force measurement systems are commonly used in many industrial fields and the precision of the measurement system is getting more important as the industry needs more precise tools and instruments to make high quality products. However, a high precision force measurement system is hard to make unless we know precisely the causes, quality and quantity of measurement errors in advance. In this work, many possible mechanical causes of measurement errors are reviewed including ratio of length to diameter of sensing part, radius of contact area, radius of bearing part, ratio of material properties and change of boundary conditions. Also, the measurement errors are analyzed by nonlinear finite element method and the nonlinear behavior of the errors are investigated. The results can be used to design force measurement systems and expected to be very useful especially for compact type load cells.

        Biodegradable firms were prepared from rice bran protein with 1%, 1.5%, 2% and 2.5% glycerol and 1%, 1.5%, 2% and 2.5% sorbitol. The effects of glycerol and sorbitol contents on tensile strength, % elongation and water vapour permeability of the films were studied. Films prepared with sorbitol had higher tensile strengh, lower % elongation and lower water vapour permeability than the films prepared with glycerol.
