This study is exploratory research on a relationship between changes in cultivated area of major crops and farm income by regions. We investigated level of income, volatility of income, and migration of suitable region by climate changes as factors influencing changes in cultivated area. Research processes are as follows. First, we classify the regions where cultivated areas are expanded or reduced through the trends of cultivated area by region and crop during recent 10 years. Second, we compare the changes in income related factors between groups during the same periods. Finally, the results from portfolio analysis show changes in stable income-based optimal crops. From these procedures, we found that the changes in cultivated area are not simply explained by income-related factors. In cases of vegetables, however, we also found that high volatility of income could contribute to reduce cultivated area of the crops. The results from portfolio analysis are not always consistent in all of cases. This means that crop selection can be decided by other factors than stable income.

This study aims to investigate how economic and non-economic factors influence the customers’ trust in a shopping mall in the context of online grocery shopping. To explain the non-economic factors, we adopt the concept of “social embeddedness,” which is primarily used in the area of sociology. We regard the concept of social embeddedenss as two different type of embeddedness, which are “rural” embeddedness and “regional” embeddedness. Rural embeddedness involves a sense of being produced in a rural area, whereas regional embeddedness involves a sense related to the region or location where people reside. In addition, we attempt to determine whether the producer’s information on the webpage could mediate social embeddedness and trust in a shopping mall. Perceived product price fairness and product quality are used as factors to represent economic value.
Analysis of Recent ICT Convergence Technology Status in the Agrifood Area through the Case Review

The purpose of this study is to explore the status of current ICT convergence technology in the agrifood area through reviewing articles. For this, we classifiedthe ICT convergence technology into four categories including RFID technology, smart sensing technology, USN technology, and other ICT convergence cases and reviewed by extracting the cases related to the convergence technology that is recently conducted depending on each category from the Journal of Computers and Electronics in Agriculture between January 2012 and June 2014. Additionally, by combining the reviews of cases, we conducted the study in the direction of analyzing the recent ICT convergence technology status in the current agrifood area.

Due to the rise of Information & Communication Technology (ICT) adoption in many fields, it is necessary to diagnose the informatization situations of corporations in agriculture and give suggestions for improvement. For this goal, surveys were designed and conducted to understand the current informatization situations of agriculture corporations in Korea. The survey covers the plan for utilizing information technology, the establishment of infrastructure for information technology, IT application status, and its effect on their performance. The specific focus of our research is to segment the corporations by their type of industries and their level of sales and give differentiated managerial implications for each segment. Probiotics play an important role in maintaining gut health by modulating the composition of the gut microbiota. BIOVITA 3 is a blend of freeze-dried powders of three probiotics including Clostridium butyricum IDCC 1301, Weizmannia coagulans IDCC 1201, and Bacillus subtilis IDCC 1101. Previous research has shown that this probiotic blend can relieve constipation in mice by rebalancing gut microbes, suggesting its potential benefits for conditions like inflammatory bowel disease (IBD). To explore this possibility, we conducted an experiment examining BIOVITA 3's effect on colitis induced by dextran sulfate sodium (DSS) in mice. For this purpose, mice were orally administered BIOVITA 3 (1 × 106 CFU) or starch (38 mg/mL)once daily for three weeks, followed by replacing a drinking water with 3% DSS in water with unrestricted access for seven days. The onset of colitis was evident through significant increases in the scores of disease activity index (DAI), levels of pro-inflammatory proteins in colon tissues, and damage scores of colon tissues observed through histology. Among these markers of inflammation, the DAI scores and levels of pro-inflammatory proteins (interleukin [IL]-6, interferon-γ, IL-17, leukotriene B4, and myeloperoxidase) were significantly reduced in the group treated with BIOVITA 3 compared to the starch-treated group. These findings support that BIOVITA 3 mitigates symptoms associated with DSS-induced colitis in mice, suggesting its potential therapeutic benefits for IBD.
