Objective: The present study is to evaluate satisfaction of vehicle outside door handles (ODHs) by design factor for improving grip comfort. Background: Existing studies have mainly focused on size and/or shape of typical handles (e.g., cylindrical handle); therefore, a specialized research for ergonomic ODH design is needed. Method: Satisfaction (operation, shape, height, width, tilting angle, central radius (R), inside upper R, inside middle R, inside lower R, pressure distribution, and overall satisfaction) by design factor (2-level: section width; 3-level: central R, inside upper R, inside middle R, inside lower R, tilting angle, and section height) were analyzed by applying a Taguchi L18 design (2¹ × 36). Design levels by design factor were determined referring to 5 existing ODHs. 18 ODHs developed in the study were relatively evaluated comparing with a reference ODH (0 point) through an 11-point bipolar scale (-5: extremely dissatisfaction, 0: no difference, +5: extremely satisfaction) by twenty participants aged 20s ~ 50s. Results: Section width and inside upper R were significant on satisfaction of ODH. Conclusion: A design guideline for ODH was established considering users’ satisfaction. Application: The design factor evaluation protocol using Taguchi method applied in the study can be applicable to the other vehicle moving handles (e.g., inside door handle, door trim grip handle, door trim pull handle).

<P> A novel Gram-stain-negative, non-spore-forming, obligate aerobic, motile, rod-shaped, and flagellated bacterium, designated S11R28T, was isolated from the intestinal tract of a Korean shiner, <I>Coreoleuciscus splendidus</I>. Based on 16S rRNA gene sequences, strain S11R28T was identified as member of the genus <I>Undibacterium</I> in class <I>Betaproteobacteria,</I> and was closely related to <I>Undibacterium parvum</I> DSM 23061T (98.49%). The isolate grew at 4-25℃, pH 6-9, with 0% (w/v) NaCl, and grew optimally at 20℃, pH 8, in the absence of NaCl. The main cellular fatty acids were C16 : 0 and summed features 3 (C16 : 1ω7c and/or C16 : 1ω6c). The strain possessed diphosphatidylglycerol, phosphatidylglycerol, and phosphatidylethanolamine as predominant polar lipids, and ubiquinone Q-8 as a respiratory quinone. The polyamine profile composed of 2-hydroxyputrescine, spermidine, putrescine, and benzoic acid. A genomic DNA G+Ccontent was 51.4mol%. The average nucleotide identity between strains S11R28T and U. parvum DSM 23061T was 78.66%. Thus, <I>Undibacterium piscinae</I> can be considered a novel species within the genus <I>Undibacterium</I> with the type strain S11R28T (=KCTC 62668T =JCM 33224T). </P>

Salmonellosis is commonly associated with meat and poultry products, but an increasing number of Salmonella outbreaks have been attributed to contaminated vegetables and fruits. Enteric pathogens including Salmonella enterica spp. can colonize diverse produce and persist for a long time. Considering that fresh vegetables and fruits are usually consumed raw without heat treatments, Salmonella contamination may subsequently lead to serious human infections. In order to understand the underlying mechanism of Salmonella adaptation to produce, we investigated the transcriptomics of Salmonella in contact with green vegetables, namely cabbage and napa cabbage. Interestingly, Salmonella pathogenicity island (SPI)-1 genes, which are required for Salmonella invasion into host cells, were up-regulated upon contact with vegetables, suggesting that SPI-1 may be implicated in Salmonella colonization of plant tissues as well as animal tissues. Furthermore, Salmonella transcriptomic profiling revealed several genetic loci that showed significant changes in their expression in response to vegetables and were associated with bacterial adaptation to unfavorable niches, including STM14_0818 and STM14_0817 (speF/potE), STM14_0880 (nadA), STM14_1894 to STM14_1892 (fdnGHI), STM14_2006 (ogt), STM14_2269, and STM14_2513 to STM14_2523 (cbi operon). Here, we show that nadA was required for bacterial growth under nutrient-restricted conditions, while the other genes were required for bacterial invasion into host cells. The transcriptomes of Salmonella in contact with cabbage and napa cabbage provided insights into the comprehensive bacterial transcriptional response to produce and also suggested diverse virulence determinants relevant to Salmonella survival and adaptation.
Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic on the Mental Health of Adolescent Students in Daegu, Korea
Lee Hojun,Noh Yeseul,Seo Ji Young,Park Sang Hee,Kim Myoung Haw,Won Seunghee 대한의학회 2021 Journal of Korean medical science Vol.36 No.46
Background: In February 2020, as coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) spread rapidly in Daegu, South Korea, students in that region experienced many emotional difficulties. In this study, we analyzed the stress and emotional crisis experienced by students during the COVID-19 pandemic, its causative factors, and the factors that affect negative emotions. Methods: We identified the demographic information related to the experiences of unbearable stress and emotional crisis and their causal factors at three points in time: before the pandemic, during its peak, and at the time of the survey (2–3 months after the peak). In addition, we analyzed the factors related to depression and anxiety experienced by students during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Korean version of the Patient Health Questionnaire 9 and the Korean version of the Generalized Anxiety Disorder 7 was used to assess for depressive and anxiety symptoms in the subject students, respectively. Results: A total of 8,177 students participated in the analysis, with 4,072 boys (49.8%), 4,105 girls (50.2%), and 4,463 middle school students (54.6%) and 3,177 high school students (45.4%). The percentage of students who experienced unbearable stress was 9% before the COVID-19 pandemic, increased to 16% at the peak of the COVID-19 pandemic, then decreased to 12.7% at the time of the survey. Stress was experienced more by girls (18.1% versus 13.8% in boys; χ2 = 28.159, P < 0.001) and high school students (19.0% versus 13.5% in middle school students; χ2 = 45.437, P < 0.001). Overall, 7.6% experienced emotional crises during the COVID-19 pandemic, which was more prevalent in girls (10.1% versus 5.2% in boys; χ2 = 71.025, P < 0.001) and in high school students (8.8% versus 6.7% in middle school students; χ2 = 12.996, P < 0.001). Depression and anxiety was seen in 19.8% and 12.3% of students during the COVID-19 pandemic, respectively. The risk factors for depression and anxiety included unbearable stress before the COVID-19 pandemic (P < 0.001), mental health (P = 0.044), and age (P = 0.040), whereas resilience was identified as a protective factor for depression and anxiety (P = 0.001). Conclusion: Students in Daegu experienced lots of mental difficulties since the COVID-19 pandemic. It will be necessary to improve stress management and resilience to improve students' mental health in disasters such as the COVID-19 pandemic.
Rare Imaging of Fat Embolism Seen on Computed Tomography in the Common Iliac Vein after Polytrauma
( Hojun Lee ),( Jonghwan Moon ),( Junsik Kwon ),( John Cook-jong Lee ) 대한외상학회 2018 大韓外傷學會誌 Vol.31 No.2
Fat embolism refers to the presence of fat droplets within the peripheral and lung microcirculation with or without clinical sequelae. However, early diagnosis of fat embolism is very difficult because the embolism usually does not show at the computed tomography as a large fat complex within vessels. Forty-eight-year-old male with pedestrian traffic accident ransferred from a local hospital by helicopter to the regional trauma center by two flight surgeons on board. At the rendezvous point, he had suffered with dyspnea without any airway obstruction sign with 90% of oxygen saturation from pulse oximetry with giving 15 L of oxygen by a reserve bag mask. The patient was intubated at the rendezvous point. The secondary survey of the patient revealed multiple pelvic bone fracture with sacrum fracture, right femur shaft fracture and right tibia head fracture. Abdominal computed tomography was performed in 191 minutes after the injury and fat embolism with Hounsfield unit of -86 in his right common iliac vein was identified. Here is a very rare case that mass of fat embolism was shown within common iliac vein detected in computed tomography. Early detection of the fat embolus and early stabilization of the fractures are essential to the prevention of sequelae such as cerebral fat embolism.

Lee, Jaeyeong,Shin, Hojun,Choi, Kyoung Soon,Lee, Jouhahn,Choi, Jae-Young,Yu, Hak Ki Elsevier 2019 International journal of hydrogen energy Vol.44 No.5
<P><B>Abstract</B></P> <P>In this paper, a nickel (Ni) catalyst with large surface area supported by a graphitic layer is proposed. The graphitic layer is formed on a Ni foil by chemical vapor deposition (CVD) using CH4 as a source. The Ni foil is partially etched by a chemical etchant to increase the surface to volume ratio. The H2 generation rates of the catalysts for different Ni etching times are measured and their surfaces are observed using an optical microscope. The optimized Ni etching time is 6 h, and the catalyst prepared by 6 h of etching shows an H2 generation rate of about 600 ml/min⋅(g metal). The 6-h etched Ni/graphitic layer (Ni/G) is reused five times to confirm durability; it shows a high performance without any degradation. The H2 generation rate for different concentrations of NaBH4 is measured. The reaction follows first order kinetics, which means that the higher the concentration of NaBH4 is, the faster the H2 generation is.</P> <P><B>Highlights</B></P> <P> <UL> <LI> Nickel foil with increased surface area showed excellent catalytic performance. </LI> <LI> A graphitic layer prevents nickel from tearing or damaging. </LI> <LI> The rate of hydrogen generation of sodium borohydride is about 600 ml/min·(g metal). </LI> <LI> The catalyst showed excellent stability even after 5 repetitions. </LI> </UL> </P>
