Due to the rise of Information & Communication Technology (ICT) adoption in many fields, it is necessary to diagnose the informatization situations of corporations in agriculture and give suggestions for improvement. For this goal, surveys were designed and conducted to understand the current informatization situations of agriculture corporations in Korea. The survey covers the plan for utilizing information technology, the establishment of infrastructure for information technology, IT application status, and its effect on their performance. The specific focus of our research is to segment the corporations by their type of industries and their level of sales and give differentiated managerial implications for each segment. This is because the type of informatization and information technology assistance they need highly depends on their industry type and sales level. Developing a decision support system for selecting new crops

Due to changes in the agricultural market environment and both overseas and domestic farming conditions, uncertainties in agricultural production and management are becoming greater. Hence, there is a stronger need for farmers to choose crops in the optimal condition. This research aims to introduce the result and process of developing a decision support system for selecting crops, aimed to assist farmers in selecting the optimal crops most suitable in the given situation. There are basically three main factors to consider in the decision-making process for farmers when selecting a crop to introduce to their lands. First of all, one must consider how much profit crop A will produce when it is cultivated. Secondly, one must consider which crop to cultivate in order to earn a certain amount of profit. Thirdly, one must consider what is the best way to maximize Farm A's business profit. For instance, a farm may have land as its resource, and one must research which location, type of crop, level of technology, and so forth, to maximize profit.This research creates a database of the profitability of a total of 180 crop types by analyzing Rural Development Administration's survey of agricultural products income of 115 crop types, small land profitability index survey of 53 crop types, and Statistics Korea's survey of production costs of 12 crop types. Furthermore, this research presents the result and developmental process of a web-based crop introduction decision support system that provides overseas cases of new crop introduction support programs, as well as databases of outstanding business success cases of each crop type researched by agricultural institutions.
Development of Method to Calculate Plant Available Water Content for Irrigation Management

For proper water management in field, it is important to measure the soil moisture content of the field and to irrigate according to it. Volumetric water content is easily measured with dielectric soil moisture sensor but is hard to use if the soil type is unknown. Plant available water is based on matric potential of soil water, so it can indicate actual water content that plant can use in any soil type. In this study, converting volumetric water content to plant water content is developed without additional measurement of soil matric potential. Volumetric water content was measured in a vineyard in Hwaseong-si, Gyeonggi-do, Republic of Korea, and was converted into plant available water with previous research results. Plant available water could reveal misunderstandings that volumetric water content might make. In the future, plant available water is expected to be adapted to set irrigation strategy.

신경망 기반 저온 저장 중 양파의 품질변화 예측 기술 개발 기초 연구

양파는 국내 대표적인 저장 농산물 중 하나로, 저온 저장 환경에서 길게는 약 8개월간 보관하며 시장에 공급되는 것으로 알려져 있다. 하지만, 저장 중 각종 생리장해 및 부패의 영향으로 매년 30% 이상의 높은 저장 손실률을 기록하고 있어 보다 효율적인 저장관리기술의 개발이 필요한 상황이다. 따라서, 본 연구에서는 저장관리기술의 필수적인 요소기술로 활용될 수 있는 저온 저장 중 양파 품질의 실시간 예측 기술을 개발하고자 하였다. 이를 위해, 실제 산지유통센터와 유사한 모의 저장 환경을 설치하였으며, 내부에는 실시간 환경 정보를 수집하기 위한 모니터링 시스템을 구축하였다. 또한, 샘플링을 통한 주기적인 파괴실험을 수행하여 저장 기간 및 환경 변화에 따른 양파의 품질변화를 기록하였다. 이렇게 수집된 환경 및 품질 정보를 활용하여 신경망 기반의 저장 중 양파 품질 예측모델을 학습하였으며, 기존의 전통적인 방식과 비교하여 그 효용성을 평가하고자 하였다. 개발된 기술을 통해 예측된 양파의 품질 정보는 향후 저장 환경 조건의 개선 및 적정 출하 시기 선정 등에 활용될 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
