      • Genetic Diversity of Korean Rice Breeding Parents as Measured by DNA Fingerprinting with Simple Sequence Repeat (SSR) Markers

        Molecular markers are useful tools for evaluating genetic diversity and determining cultivar identity. Present study was conducted to evaluate the genetic diversity within a diverse collection of rice accessions used for Korean breeding programs. Two hundred eighty-seven rice cultivars, composed of temperate japonica, tropical japonica, indica, and Tongil-type of Korean crossing parents were evaluated by means of 15 simple sequence repeat (SSR) markers. A total of 99 alleles were detected, and the number of alleles per marker ranged from 4 to 11, with an average of 6.6 per locus. Polymorphism information content (PIC) for each of the SSR markers ranged from 0.2924 to 0.8102 with an average of 0.5785. These results, with the result that use of only 15 SSR markers made all rice cultivars examined could be uniquely distinguished, imply the efficiency of SSR markers for analysis of genetic diversity in rice. Cluster analysis was performed on similar coefficient matrics calculated from SSR markers to generate a dendogram in which two major groups corresponding to japonica (Group I) and indica and Tongil type rice (group II) with additional subclasses within both major groups. The narrowness of the Korean breeding germplasm was revealed by the fact that most of the Korean-bred and Japan-bred temperate japonica cultivars were concentrated into only 2 of the sub-group I-1 (143 cultivars) and I-2 (58 cultivars) among six sub-groups in major group of japonica. This is because of the japonica accessions used in this study was a very closely related ones because of frequent sharing of the crossing parents with similar genetic background with synergy effect of the inherited genetic difference between indica and japonica. A rice breeding strategy with the use of molecular markers was discussed for overcoming of genetic vulnerability owing to this genetic narrowness.

      • 핵이동과 'NP이/가+V형' 복합동사 형성

        The purpose of this paper is to account for the changes of syntactic structure and argument structure when the verb compounding occurred. In this paper, I limited the scope of discussion only to 'NPi/ka+V' type complex predicate(ie, 'honi-nata') and 'NP+V' type compound verbs like 'honnata(to be scolded)'. The verb compounding could be explained as a Syntactic Head Movement within the Principles and Parameter Theory. And the compound verbs formed by Head Adjunction interpreted as a unique word by Word Interpretation(WI) at LF, because it is a minimal projection X^min of V. Usually, the verbs which attend to the formation of compound verb are unaccusative verbs. So, the argument of this unaccusative verb is generated in complement position of the verb in D-structure. An unaccusative verb and it's noun with Nominative Case interacts morpho-semantically to form a new meaning, and this new meaning motivates to insert a new external argument. The change of argument structure, when the complex predicate formed, could be described as an 'Expansive Restructuring of Argument Structure' following after acquiring a new semantic feature. Therefore, when the compound verbs formed from this complex predicate, the argument structure is reductivly restructured. I expect to show both of 'honnata' type compound verbs and even 'sunbota' types could be expounded with this restructuring principle. Finally, this description could be generalized as one of general principles of Restructuring of Argument Structure, including compound verb formation and derivational passive verb formation.

      • 진행위암 및 식도암에 대한 EAP병합 화학요법

        Eleven patients with advanced gastric cancer, five patients with esophageal cancer were treated with Etoposide, Aclacinimycin (or Adraimycin), and Cisplatin(EAP) combination chemotherapy. The results were as followings: 1. The response rate was 64% in advanced stomach cancer and 60% in esophageal cancer. The overall response rate was 63% in total patients. 2. The toxicites of the EAP combination regimen were evaluated by ECOG(Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group) toxicity criteria. The toxicities were as following in order of frequency: anemia 44%, nausea and vomiting 37%, leukopenia 13%, genitorinary toxicites 7%, thrombocypenia 6%. 3. The median duration of survival was 7.5+ months stomach cancer and 8+ months in esophageal cancer in responded patients. 4. The median duration of partial remission were 4+ months and 5+ months in stomach cancer and esophageal cancer in respectively. In conclusion. the EAP combination chemotherapeutic regimen have substantial effects on advanced stomach and esophageal cancer.

        The aim of this paper is to investigate the syntactic and semantic properties of Short Form Confirmatives(SFC's) and the functions of negative 'an' occuring in SFC's in Eastern Chonnam Dialect. Although the syntactic forms of SFC's are the same as of negative interrogatives, the function of SFC's is to provide an affirmative proposition to listener to confirm certain events or situations. The pragmatic affix 'an' of SFC's means that speaker's supposition is not in accordance with the actual situation in a given conversation There are several types SFC's with a marked type having two or more 'an's' in a single sentence, and no other 'an's'.

      • 각종 악성종양질환에서의 세포면역 기능에 대한 연구 : 말초 혈액 T 임파구 아형 분포 및 지연형 과민반응에 대한 검색 Delayed Cutaneous Hypersensitivity and Peripheral Blood T-lymphocyte Subsets

        The author studied delayed cutaneous hypersensitivity and peripheral blood T-lymphocyte subpopulations in 54 patients with malignant tumors. 1. The number and total score of positive reactions in delayed cutaneous hypersensitivity were significantly decreased in cancer patients(p<0.005, p<0.05). 2. Percent OKT4^+ T-lymphocyte in cancer patients were significantly decreased compared to normal control subjects (p <0. 05), and it had positive correlation with total score of delayed cutaneous hypersensitivity reactions(r=0.768). 3. Percent OKT8^+ cells were not different from that of normal control subjects. 4. The ratio of OKT4^+/OKT8^+ in cancer patients were not different from that of normal control subjects except in patients with colorectal carcinoma and malignant lymphomas. 5. Markers of activated T-lymphocyte, OKT10^+ and OKIal^+ cells were increased in all the patient groups. 6. Leu7^+ cells, reflecting natural killer cells, were not different from normal control subjects These results suggest that the cancer patients have depressed cellular immune functions, which mainly results from the decrease of helper T lymphocyte number. Short of functional assays of cellular immunity, the author concluded that the testing of delayed cutaneous hypersensitivity and enumeration of peripheral blood lymphocyte subsets, especially OKT4^+ cells and activated T cells provide useful informations on cellular immune reactivity in cancer patients. Further studies on prognostic value of these parameters should be pursued.

      • InSb 결정 성장과 특성에 관한 연구

        직접천이형 에너지갭(0.17eV)을 갖는 III-V족 2원 화합물 반도체인 InSb를 수직 브리지만법으로 성장시켜 전기-자기적 특성과 Zn의 확산성질을 조사하였다. 결정 성장속도는 1mm/hr 였으며, 성장된 결정의 격자상수 ao는 6.4863A 이었다. 불순물을 첨가하지 않은 InSb 결정의 전도형은 n형이었고, 실온에서 캐리어 농도는 2∼6×10^16㎝^-3 이었으며 캐리어 이동도는 6∼2×10^4㎝^2/V·sec 이었다. 자계를 인가하지 않았을때에 비하여 자기저항은 71.4% 증가하였고 자계가 증가할수록 자기저항은 증가하였다. 또한, 홀전압은 자계의 세기가 증가할수록 증가하였으며 10K gauss에서 36.3mV이었다. InSb 내에서 Zn의 확산깊이는 확산시간의 제곱근에 비례하여 증가하였으며, Zn가 확산하는데 필요한 활성화에너지는 0.67eV이었고 확산계수의 온도의존성은 D=4.25×10^-3 exp(-0.67 /K_BT) 이었다. Binary compound semiconductor InSb crystal which has direct-transition energy gap (0.17eV) was grown by vertical Bridgman method, then the electric-magnetic and Zn diffusion properties of InSb crystal were surveyed. The growth rate of the crystals was 1mm/hr and the lattice constant a_0 of the grown crystal was 6.4863Å. The undoped InSb crystal was n-type, the electron concentration and the electron mobility were 2~6×10^16㎝^-3 and 6~2×10^4㎝^2/V·sec at room temperature, respectively. The magnetoresistance was increased 71.4% as compared with non-applied magnetic field and the magnetoresistance was increased with increasing the magnetic field. Also, the Hall voltage was increased with increasing the magnetic field and Hall voltage was 36.3mV at 10K gauss. The diffusion depth of Zn into InSb proportionally increased with the square root of diffusion time and the activation energy for Zn diffusion was 0.67eV. The temperature dependence of diffusion coefficient was D=4.25×10^-3exp(-0.67 /K_BT).

      • 열처리에 따른 Zircaloy-4 Tube의 부식특성에 관한 연구

        열처리에 따른 Zircaloy-4 tube의 부식 특성을 조사하기 위하여 pilger된 시편, 수냉된 시편, 열처리된 시편에 대해, 500℃, 102 기압의 증기하에서의 부식 시험을 실시하였다. 주어진 시험조건하에서 수냉된 시편과 pilger된 시편은 좋은 nodular 부식 저항을 보였으나, 열처리된 시편은 나쁜 nodular 부식 저항을 가졌다. To investigate the effect of heat treatment on the corrosion behavior of water-quenched, heat -treated, and as-pilgered Zircaloy-4 tubes, corrosion testing was conducted at 500℃ in 102 atm of steam atmosphere. Under these given conditions, water-quenched and as-pilgered and the grains become bigger and equiaxed. Heat treated specimens exhibited improved resistance to nodular corroson, while heat- treated specimens had poor nodular corrosion resistance.

      • 장상피화생과 Helicobactor pylori와의 상관 관계에 관한 연구

        In 1965 Lauren divided advanced gastric carcinoma into two main types-namely, "intestinal" and "diffuse" type carcinoma, which differ not only morphologically but also in their clinical and epidemiological characteristics. Moreover, a different histogenetic process has been postulated by many authors that intestinal type gastric carcinoma might arise from areas with intestinal metaplasia. Since Warren and Marshall reported the presence of Helicobacter pylori in the stomach in 1983, strong evidence has been obtained that there is a close relationship between Helicobacter pylori and chronic gastritis, atrophic gastritis, intestinal metaplasia, and intestinal type gastric carcinoma. To study the relationship between intestinal metaplasia and Helicobacter pylori infection, we performed gastroscopic biopsies and CLO tests taken from patients with epigastric pain. Only 87 patients with macroscopically suspected antral gastritis were included. The prevalence of intestinal metaplasia in gastric antral biopsies increased from 33.3% in the age group<30 years to 63.6% in the age group 60 years. When all patients were divided into two age groups-namely, (i)<50 years(n=41) and (ii)≥ 50 years(n-=46), intestinal metaplasia was found significantly more often in patients ≥ 50 years. ((i) 39.2%, (ii) 54.3%, p<0.0001). The prevalence of Helicobacter pylori in gastric antral biopsies decreased from 66.7% in the age group<30 years to 62.5%, in the age group in the age group 50 to 59 years. When all patients were divided into the same two age groups-namely(i)<50 years and (ii)≥50 years, the prevalence of Helicobacter pylori did not differ between two groups in a statistically significant way. The mean age of intestinal metaplasia positive patients who were also Helicobacter pylori positive was 48±11.0(mean±S.D.)years, whereas the mean age of intestinal metaplasia positive patients who were Helicobacter pylori negative was 52±9.7(mean±S.D.)years. In conclusion. although our data do not prove a causal relationship between Helicobacter pylori infection and the histogenesis of intestinal metaplasia, we suggest that Helicobacter pylori plays an important role in the development of intestinal metaplasia in the gastric mucosa. Whether Helicobacter pylori has to be present at all times during this process or is only necessary as a 'trigger', needs further research.

      • ^(7)Li, ^(87)Rb과 ^(27)Al NMR을 이용한 (K_(1-x)Li_(x))_(2)SnCl_(6), (K_(1-x)Rb_(x))_(2)SnCl_(6)와 K_(2)SnCl_(6):Al^(3+)의 상전이 근처에서의 결정 동력학 연구

        K_(2)SnCl_(6)는 antifluoride계에 속하는 결정으로서 K_(2)SnCl_(6)에 Li^(+)를 첨가하여 ^(7)Li 핵자기공명(NMR)을 측정하여 동형(isomorphic) 혼합결정(K_(1-x)Rb_(x))_(2)SnCl_(6)와 비동형(nonisomorphic) 혼합결정 K_(2)SnCl_(6):Al^(3+)에서의 핵자기공명(NMR), ^(87)Rb NMR과 ^(27)Al NMR의 측정값과 비교하였다. Rb^(+) 이온은 K_(2)SnCl_(6)의 K^(+)이온을 대신해 동형 결정을 이루며, Al^(3+)이온은 Sn^(4+)이온을 대치하면서 비동형 결정을 이루는데 Li^(+)이온 또한 K^(+)이온을 대신하는 동형 혼합결정과 유사한 결과 값을 얻을 수 있었다. 이 연구 결과는 종래의 Cl-NQR 연구 결과와 비교함으로서 K_(2)SnCl_(6)의 동력학적 특성과 구조 상전이 근처에서의 임계현상을 새로운 관점에서 볼 수 있는 가능성을 보여주었다. ^(7)Li, ^(87)Rb and ^(27)Al NMR have been investigated in the isomorphic and nonisomorphic impurity doped crystals (K_(1-x)Li_(x))_(2)SnCl_(6), (K_(1-x)Rb_(x))_(2)SnCl_(6) and K_(2)SnCl_(6):Al^(3+) as a supplementary to the previous Cl NQR studies in these crystals. The results yielded that the features of NMR spectra for both types of crystals are roughly in line with the systematic trends shown in the Cl NQR in these crystals, though the outstanding characteristics exhibited in the Cl NQR become in the case of the NMR of the doped impurities in crystals somewhat weakend. This is due to the degradation of the role of the local field from the main hamiltonian in NQR to the subsidiary in NMR. Each NMR result of the iso/nonisomorphic crystals has been analyzed in terms of the 'impurity induced dynamic lattice defects' for K_(2)SnCl_(6):Al^(3+) and the 'static primary impurity effects' for (K_(1-x)Rb_(x))_(2)SnCl_(6) and (K_(1-x)Li_(x))_(2)SnCl_(6) respectlvely.
