The College of Engineering was specialized to have a sole function for supplying technical high school teachers in 1977 and referred to as the College of Industrial Education according to the Government's policy. The economic impact mainly due to the oil-crises caused a severe problem to this college, namely discrepancy of supply to demand scale. Accordingly the number of student enrollment was to be fluctuated from 479 in 1979 through 800 in 1979 and 900 in 1980 to 430 in 1981. And the engineering departments have been attached to this Engineering Education College since 1981. These circumstanses met singnificant inefficiency in facility operation. This program aims at providing an overall relocation of the college facilities and preparing the practical system to make the joint-operation possible taking into account circulation, academic stream, budget, maintenance, etc. However this study could not get optimal spacing but some trade-off, considering the current situation.

Acinetobacter species is a non-fermentative aerobic gram-negative coccobacillus that is an important pathogen found in nosocomial infections. Recently, multi-drug resistant Acinetobacter baumannii (MDR-AB) infections have been increasing and pose a serious problem. Most such infections present as bacteremia, pneumonia, or a wound infection; however, CNS infections are very rare. We herein present a case of ventriculitis caused by MDR-AB in a 37-year old man after a neurosurgical intervention. The patient was successfully treated with intrathecal colistimethate.
A survey of current practices in post-polypectomy surveillance in Korea

Background/Aims: We investigated the clinical practice patterns of post-polypectomy colonoscopic surveillance among Korean endoscopists. Methods: In a web-based survey conducted between September and November 2021, participants were asked about their preferred surveillance intervals and the patient age at which surveillance was discontinued. Adherence to the recent guidelines of the U.S. Multi-Society Task Force on Colorectal Cancer (USMSTF) was also analyzed. Results: In total, 196 endoscopists completed the survey. The most preferred first surveillance intervals were: a 5-year interval after the removal of 1-2 tubular adenomas < 10 mm; a 3-year interval after the removal of 3-10 tubular adenomas < 10 mm, adenomas ≥ 10 mm, tubulovillous or villous adenomas, ≤ 20 hyperplastic polyps < 10 mm, 1-4 sessile serrated lesions (SSLs) < 10 mm, hyperplastic polyps or SSLs ≥ 10 mm, and traditional serrated adenomas; and a 1-year interval after the removal of adenomas with high-grade dysplasia, >10 adenomas, 5-10 SSLs, and SSLs with dysplasia. In piecemeal resections of large polyps ( > 20 mm), surveillance colonoscopy was mostly preferred after 1 year for adenomas and 6 months for SSLs. The mean USMSTF guideline adherence rate was 30.7%. The largest proportion of respondents (40.8%-55.1%) discontinued the surveillance at the patient age of 80-84 years. Conclusions: A significant discrepancy was observed between the preferred post-polypectomy surveillance intervals and recent international guidelines. Individualized measures are required to increase adherence to the guidelines. (Intest Res 2024;22:186-207)

This study was conducted to develop seed propagation protocol of Hemerocallis taxa native to the Korean Peninsula. Eight species of Hemerocallis are native to Korea. In this study, we classified seed dormancy types and characterized germination traits in H. thunbergia, H. dumortieri, H. hakuunensis, and H. hongdoensis. H. hakuunensis and H. hongdoensis have been known as endemic species in the Korean Peninsula. The initial embryo: seed length ratio in seeds of the four Hemerocallis species was between 0.65 and 0.75 at harvest, and the embryos elongated by 23.1 to 32.7% prior to germination. Thus, seeds of the four Hemerocallis species have morphological dormancy (MD). Seeds of the four species germinated to ≥84% in light at 25/15°C within 30 days. The lower the incubation temperature, the lower the germination rate of seeds of the four Hemerocallis species. But the range of temperature was expanded through cold stratification. GA3 treatment had no effect on expanded the temperature range. This indicates that the seeds have conditional dormancy (CD) that germinates in a narrow temperature range. In conclusion, the four Hemerocallis seeds have some portion of morphological dormancy (MD) and other seeds have morphophysiological dormancy (MPD).

<P>A shape design optimization of the boom system in high ladder vehicle modeled by 3-dimensional finite elements is carried out. The structural analysis is performed using 3-D FEA (Finite Element Analysis) giving the results of displacements, stresses and natural frequencies. The section height and width of the boom is controlled by the FEA result data. The subproblem approximation method is implemented for the optimal shape based on displacement and principal stress. In the meantime, Lanzcos algorithm method is implemented in order to find the natural frequency of the system. The optimal models obtained by three different optimization processes are compared with the initial model and evaluated for economic conditions respectively. It is found that the different shape optimization processes give the different shape optimization results, which suggest their unique optimal shapes under their necessary design condition. </P>

Background: The optimal timing of treatment with EGFR-tyrosine kinase inhibitors (EGFR-TKI) in NSCLC patients has not yet been determined. Methods: We separated 228 patients with advanced /metastatic NSCLC treated with gefitinib into an early gefitinib group (patients who received gefitinib as first- or second-line treatment) and a delayed gefitinib group (patients who received gefitinib as third or fourth-line treatment) and attempted to determine whether the timing of gefitinib treatment affected clinical outcomes. Results: Median overall survival (OS), progression free survival (PFS), and median OS from first-line treatment of advanced/metastatic disease (OSt) for 111 patients in the early gefitinib group were 6.2 months, 3.3 months, and 11.6 months. However, median OS, PFS, and OSt for 84 patients in the delayed gefitinib group were 7.8 months, 2.3 months, and 22.7 months. No differences in OS and PFS were observed between the 2 groups. However, OSt was significantly longer in the delayed gefitnib group. Timing of gefitinib therapy was one of the independent predictors of OSt. Hb ${\geq}$ 10 g/dl, and having never smoked, and ECOG performance status ${\leq}1$ were independent predictors of better PFS. Conclusion:Deferral of gefitinib therapy in patientswith advanced ormetastatic NSCLC may be preferable if they are able to tolerate chemotherapy.
Non-Adiabatic Flamelet Modeling for Combustion Processes of Oxy-Natural Gas Flame

In order to realistically predict the combustion characteristics of the oxy-fuel flame, the present study employs the non-adiabatic flame let approach. In this combustion model, the detailed equilibrium chemistry is utilized to accurately account for the thermal dissociation as well as to properly include the radiative cooling effects on the detailed chemistry. Numerical results indicate that the present approach has the capability to correctly capture the essential features and precise structure of the oxy-fuel flames. In this work, the detailed discussion has been made for the characteristics of oxy-fuel flames, the capability and defect of the present approach and also uncertainties of experimental data.
