Min’s glasses are specially manufactured in order to enhance the satisfaction of the wearer and increase treatment effectiveness. We compared the effectiveness of Min’s glasses with that of conventional occlusion therapy in amblyopic pediatric patients. We prospectively studied 60 amblyopic patients. For four to 30 months, 24 of the patients were treated with conventional patch occlusion (patch group) and 36 of them were treated with Min’s glasses (glasses group). We compared the improvement in visual acuity and the treatment compliance between both groups, according to age (over six and less than six), sex, type of amblyopia, and the duration of treatment. Sixteen patients (66.7%) in the patch group and 32 patients (88.9%) in glasses group showed improvement in visual acuity (p=0.002). The pre-treatment average log MAR acuity was 0.56±0.25 in the patch group, and 0.59 ±0.25 in the glasses group. The average improvement in visual acuity was a 0.17 log MAR score in the patch group, and a 0.31 log MAR score in the glasses group (p=0.004). Compliance was 59.54% in the patch group and 83.44% in the glasses group (p=0.012). The pre-treatment average log MAR acuity was 0.49 ± 0.23 for children over six years of age in the patch group, and 0.58±0.28 for children over six years of age in the glasses group. For children over six years of age in the glasses group the improvement in visual acuity (0.29 log MAR score) was greater than for children over six years of age in the patch group (0.06 log MAR score) (p=0.0003). The pre-treatment average log MAR acuity was 0.55±0.22 for female patients in the patch group, and 0.60±0.25 for female patients in the glasses group. Female patients in the glasses group also showed a greater visual acuity improvement (0.29 log MAR score) than female patients in the patch group (0.14 log MAR score) (p=0.0028). However, there were no differences between the groups in patients less than six years of age and in male patients. In conclusion, Min’s glasses were more effective than conventional treatment with a patch in improving visual acuity and encouraging compliance in pediatric amblyopic patients, especially in children over six years of age and in girls.

The upshoot and downshoot are occurred when the eye is rotated into the adducted position in Duane's retraction Syndrome. These phenonemons are believed to be related to a taut or leash effect ("Bridle effect") from the lateral rectus muscle. Seven patients with Duane's retraction syndrome demonstrated above findings and underwent Y-sptting and recesion of the lateral rectus muscle. All 7 patients demonstrated a marked decrease in the up-or downshoot and retraction of the eye ball, and became better primary position of the eye ball after the operation.

본 논문은 연역 데이터베이스상에서 뷰(view)의 갱신(update)에 관한 것이다. 뷰란 규칙에 의해 정의되는 사실을 말하며, 뷰 자체는 저장하지 않는다. 따라서 뷰 갱신을 직접적으로 갱신하지 않고 뷰를 정의하는 사실들의 갱신으로 변경하여 간접적인 뷰 갱신을 수행산다. 뷰를 정의하는 규칙이 하나 이상일때는 해결방안이 여러개 나올 수 있으며, 규칙(deductive rule)에 지역 변수가 존재할 때는 해결책에 변수가 나타난다. 이러한 문제점들을 해결하기 위하여 무결성 제약조건을 이용한다. 이 모든 과정은 사용자에게 문의하지 않고 시스템에 의해 자동적으로 이루어진다. 그리고 사용자는 뷰에 관한 특별한 지식없이 일반적인 사실과 동일한 방법으로 갱신을 수행하게 된다. This paper is concerned with the view update problem in a deductive database. View is a predicate that is defined by rule and view itself is riot stored. In order to update non stored predicate, we translate a view update into set of facts updates which define view. When rules that define view are more than one, we present a solution that is not only consistent with the updated database but also changes the original database as little as possible. In general, view updates through abduction lead to ambiguous and non-deterministic problems. These problems are handled by using the semantics in integrity constraints. Since view updates cause the state of database to be changed, view updates using integerity constraints can verify database consistency at the same time.
성장중인 흰쥐 두개관에서 HPLC에 의한 세포내 Purine 대사산물 함량에 관한 연구

The present experiment was performed to investigate the contents of metabolites involved in the purine catabolic pathways in developing rat calvaria. The portions of calvarias containing frontal and parietal bones was separated from 19-day-old rat foetuses. Specimens were assayed for their contents of intracellular purine metabolites by high performance liquid chromatography in the acid extract of the tissues with rapid quenching. The content of inosine was the highest in the purine nucleosides and bases. The content of adenosine was higher than that of guanosine, but xanthosine was not detected in the tissues. The contents of hypoxanthine and guanine were relatively high, but adenine and xanthine were not detected. These results implied that the major purine metabolites in developing rat calvaria were inosine, hypoxanthine and guanine.

A new device, muscle clamping system was developed to facilitate exact quatifying technique A strabismus surgery, and reduce the risk of complications. The device is composed of a lower fixing body with three jaws and an upper supporting body. They are used to clip an extraocular muscle and fix it to the sclera with a single bite. Superior rectus recession on 16 rabbit eyes were performed with this new device. Conjunctival injection, muscle adhesion strength, and light microscopic findings were examined at 1, 2, 4 and 8 weeks postoperatively. The Conjunctival injection were minimal, adhesion power ranged from 420 to 600 gram gravity, which is sufficient in withstand the normal pull of human extraocular muscle. In microscopic exam, some Inflammatory cells and fibrosis were found. The new device was technically easy, fast, and accurate, so it may be useful in stabismus surgery.

An improved retinal tack can be used to fix the retina in complicated retinal detachment and proliferative vitreoretinopathy. We used the retinal tack made by biodegradable polyglycolic acid, polylactic acid and copolymers. The tacks with polyglycolic acid were placed in the retina the right eyes of 10 rabbits as group 1, with polylactic-polyglycolic acid copolymers as group 2 in each left eyes. We examined the absorption rates and degree of intraocular inflammation at 1 day, 1, 2, 4, and 8 weeks and compared both eyes. The tacks were absorbed with time in both eyes, but more rapid in copolymers. And there was no inflammation in both eyes. Now, this study will be a base on the drug delivery system in intraocular pharmacological and surgical management.

Twelve patients with large angle congenital-infantile esotropia averaging 71 prism diopters under-went 7-mm bilateral medial rectus recessions by the fornix approach. Successful horizontal alignment with the initial procedure when measured at the most postoperatively was achieved in 11 patients (92%). One patient(8%) was undercorrected and none was overcorrected. The advantages of the method, as compared to three or four muscle procedures, are that it is quicker, simpler, and a less traumatic procedure which leaves the lateral rectus nuscle an unoperated for future surgeries if necessary. This is effective even in very large angle congenital-infantile esotropia.

The portions of calvarias containing frontal and parietal bones was separated from 19-day-old rat foetuses. Specimens were assayed for their contents of intracellular purine nucleotides by high performance liquid chromatography in the acid extract of the tissues with rapid quenching. The concentration of intracelluar adenine nucleotides pool was higher than that of guanine nucleotides pool, but the guanine nucleotides pool/adenine nucleotides pool ratio was much higher than those of most mammalian tissues. The concentration of IMP was very lower than those of AMP and GMP.
