Fin-tube type(Fin-type) heat exchanger has been tested in order to replace the heat exchanger of parallel flow type(P.F-type) which is now widly used in automobile air conditioning system. The following conclusions are drawn by the comparison of the characteristics of the heat exchangers. Evaporator and condenser capacities and COP(Coefficience of performance) were varied as with the compressor speed, outdoor air temperature and air flow rate changed, which much influenced on the characteristics of the air conditioning system. Evaporator and condenser capacities were increased with increasing compressor speed and outdoor air temperature. Evaporator and condenser pressures of Fin- type were decreased by 7% and 5% respectively compared with those of P.F-type. The COP of Fin-type was decreased with increasing outdoor air temperature and compressor speed. The COP of P.F-type was decreased by 14% compared with that of Fin-type.

Extracellular superoxide dismutase (EC-SOD) is an antioxidant enzyme that protects cells and tissues from extracellular damage by eliminating superoxide anion radicals produced during metabolism. Two different forms of EC-SOD exist, and their different enzyme activities are a result of different disulfide bond patterns. Although only two folding variants have been discovered so far, five folding variants are theoretically possible. Therefore, we constructed five different mutant EC-SOD expression vectors by substituting cysteine residues with serine residues and evaluated their expression levels and enzyme activities. The mutant EC-SODs were expressed at lower levels than that of wild-type EC-SOD, and all of the mutants exhibited inhibited extracellular secretion, except for C195S EC- SOD. Finally, we demonstrated that co-expression of wild-type EC-SOD and any one of the mutant EC-SODs resulted in reduced secretion of wild-type EC-SOD. We speculate that mutant EC-SOD causes malfunctions in systems such as antioxidant systems and sensitizes tissues to ROS-mediated diseases. [BMB reports 2011; 44(1): 40-45]
감성 공학을 이용한 자동 변속감 정량화 측정에 관한 연구

This study was conducted to develop and validate a multidimensional measure of shift quality for automatic transmission passenger vehicles as perceived by drivers during kick-down shifting events. As part of the first study, a survey was conducted to identify primary factors to describe subjective shift quality among average drivers. A factor analysis on the survey data revealed four semantic subdimensions, which included responsiveness, smoothness, unperceivable, and strength. Based on the four descriptive terms, an evaluation form, including semantic scales on each subdimension, was developed and used for experiment in the second study. Consequently, a series of statistical analysis revealed the relationship between each subdimension on subjective quality and the corresponding mechanical properties. Models of comprehensive shift quality based on the ratings of the subdimensions for driving intentions and speeds were also developed. The study provided a unique framework to assess subjective driving quality related to mechanical control variables in a multidimensional way, which is applicable to improve the quality of a vehicle.
하이브리드 자동차용 다단 자동 변속기의 변속감 제어에 관한 연구

Traditionally, the continuously variable transmission (CVT) has widely been adopted as a typical driveline for the hybrid electric vehicles in the automobile market. The automatic transmission, on the other hand, is rarely used for the reason that it is quite difficult for the shift quality and the drivability to reach to the development target which is same as it of the gasoline engine vehicle. In this paper, the core technology for shift quality control is introduced to apply the automatic transmission to the parallel type of hybrid power system. We mainly proposed the power on down shift strategy to obtain the optimized drivability performance appropriate to EV and HEV mode respectively by using the fuzzy control theory, and also the coast down shift strategy on the regenerative braking condition in the hybrid electric vehicle.

In general, driving performance is developed to satisfy preference of average customers. But there is no single standardized setup which can fulfill various driving taste of all drivers, since it is different by gender, culture, age group, and personal habits. To resolve this issue, automotive companies have introduced selectable drive mode buttons which drivers can manually select desired drive mode among Normal, Eco, and Sport. These manual multi-mode systems are more efficient than single-mode system, but it still is a transitory solution which leads to inconvenience of requiring drivers’ effort to frequently select their preferred drive mode in volatile driving situations. Also, it is a questionable supposition that categorizing complex needs of drivers into 3 modes is sufficient. In order to overcome these problems, it is necessary to analyze individual driving style and automatically provide customized driving performance in real-time. In this paper, we introduce fuzzy algorithm of evaluating user’s short-term and long-term driving propensity by analyzing various vehicle signals and development result of smart shift & drive control system which is capable of varying powertrain and chassis control based on personal driving style adaptation and road environment to provide optimal driving performance and experience.
